Luckily, the owner ( I heard the coworkers calls her name by Loan) was so sweet to squeeze me in; even though, there was 3 ladies there getting their nails done by other nail techs. She truly understood my time crunch, and got me out of there within 35 minutes. Overall, I am completely impressed on the quality of my hybrid nails, considering the short time spent there. It's been 2 weeks now, and my nails are still holding on strong. Honestly, I've been to other nail salon before for a quick work, and my nails has never lasted past 5 days for a gel finishing, especially when I'm on a time crunch. I'd give 10 stars if I could! I came here back in Sept and had a wonderful experience with Anne for regular mani pedi. Wow! She was so incredibly thorough, gentle, and detailed. My nails came out perfectly and lasted a long time. I also tend to get cut often and I did get nicked on my toe but I gave it a pass since the nails were so nice. Today I came in to get my bridal nails done and Tina was running the place all on her own since her colleagues were on vacation. She welcomed me and walked through exactly what I wanted. Very satisfied with this place. Annie did a great job on my waxing and French, hot stone pedicure. Clean, quality detailed work, great location, fast, and awesome customer service. The ladies here go above and beyond for their customers. And their prices are super super great especially considering the Mountain View-Los Altos ritzy competition. European wax down the street (who is constantly booked up and odd mid-day closing times) charges $85 for a full leg wax. Unique Nails charges $45 for full leg. I mean come on! Easy choice. First time I came here I was very pleased with my pedicure and for the price it was at but the second time I came here I got a full set of new acrylics and they were horrible... the lady seemed to not know how to apply it and got acrylic all over my skin and my cuticles and 2 of the nails even broke while she was filing them. I've been here three times. Why? Because it's across the street from where I live. I wanted to like it. I really did. But each time they drew blood. Each time they caused me EXTREME pain. Each time they watched tv more than they watched me. Ok, the first time the daughter was there from college. She was nice to talk to. But they still hurt me. I don't know how they stay open. It's so painful. And I don't know if they sanitize their tools. At least they didn't any of the times I have been there. I just don't think I can go back. I tried. Then I tried again. I've been coming here for the past year since the management changed, the store looks a lot better since it's run by different people. I usually come for the usual gel manicures and occasional pedicures. There's a wide range of polishes and colors, my favorites are OPI, China Glaze, Essie, and Gelish. The salon is very well kept and clean. I love how they have new and sealed sanitized and sterilized tools for each customer. Also, it's a quiet and relaxing experience everytime I come because there isn't a lot of conversations going on between the nail technicians. I always leave satisfied if I'm in the hands of Julie (she only works Tuesdays once in a while), Annie, and Steven. For designs, I've had french tips, cheetah spots, and a decorative bow that I've received many compliments on. They are very accommodating and I always leave happy with the service provided. In addition, I don't feel rushed while they are doing my nails and it ensures me that they're taking their time so I'm satisfied. The salon also offers waxing, facials, and haircuts (for men and children) if you're interested as well. Last time I had pedicure done was 15 years ago. It just hasn't been my thing and although I like pretty nails, I have always felt like spending my money on other things. This time I was pregnant, needed help with taking care of my feet and I decided to check this place out. Paid 42 dollars for pedicure with callus removal and fancy massage, 30 would have been just basic pedicure. I felt so well taken care of. Two ladies who worked on my feet were very focused and very thorough. No rush at all and the outcome was beautiful. Definitely worth it. Bad, bad quality nails. I got the acrylic and the lady doing my nails looked like she didn't know what she was doing. I had to ask her to refile my nails because they weren't round. I had to ask her to fix a lot of things. Definitely not coming back here. My nails also have bubbles in them I paid 45 dollars for this? Never again. read more

Today I got a mani pedi with Helen & Yen. Helen did my gel nails, and wow they look great! I like long black pointy nails ( i know I know) and she smoothed them out so they weren't wavy and pointed just right! I went to two other salons who didnt do gel nails, so I am pleased to have find they do a nice job. Yen did a great job on my pedi- the water was nice and hot and the massage was pretty good. The polish is pretty and even in color. Overall great experience. I dont think the NEW shop owner should be judged by the OLD owners terrible behavior. These reviews for the old owner, well dont and should not count for the new one. I had a nice experience, got just what I wanted and was happy to pay for it. I had to write an update for this place. Last post i wrote, i was concerned about whether or not this salon had sterilization/disinfectant protocols in place. I had reason to be concerned because today i went to get a pedicure (at a different location) and noticed some discoloration of my nail after they took off the dark nail polish. The lady said i possibly had a fungal infection. WHAT!?? I've had 10+ pedicures in my life and NEVER had a fungal infection. I was horrified!!!! They gave me some medicine to put under my nail. I had to buy bottle to use at home until it clears up. The only place i could think of that I could contract this fungus was from my last pedicure. I had no problems prior to the last one at unique nails. Never again! i might stay away from pedicures for a while too. read more

The Good: magazine selection, leg rub The Bad: while filling my toenails, the technician also filed the skin around my nails. Ouch! The Ugly: nail polish isn't even. There is a speck of some other nail polish on my skin. I still have dry rough skin on my feet - maybe she thought my unpleasant reaction while my toe bed was being uneccessarily roughed up meant that I didn't want the normal foot scrub routine. read more

The tools came out of sanitization bags and they used disposable liners in the foot bath of the massage pedicure chair. The final product (my nails) was near perfect. So here's what I look for: A. Clean establishment: equipment, chairs, sinks, and floor. B. Price and perks:nice lotion, massage, exfoliation. This place provided me with a 55 minute french pedicure at $30 bucks. It's semi clean, however, I am not sure if they actually do any kinda of sanitizing. It's not the cleanliest of shops, but I too have not been burned by this place, so I will trust they do. Great mint exfoliation here which is a super plus. I also like, but understand they can't do anymore, the "cheese grater" where they use a blade in a machine to remove excess dry skin. It's great and leaves the super soft. Regardless, they don't do it anymore. The reason I give this place 4 stars was because of the cheese grater and owner. But now, no grater so I give them 3.9. Nothing else really sticks out and the nice services is not enough to compensate for the the fact that they don't take cc's-this might have changed, but you maybe imposed a limit. If they take cc's, then I will bump them to 3.5. read more

$30 mani pedi is a great deal but not worth the 2 hours it took. I had a 6pm appointment, arrived at 5:45pm and didn't leave until 8pm. They spent almost 90 minutes on just my pedicure. I appreciate the thoroughness but seriously, I couldn't believe how long it took! By the time they got to my manicure, I was just watching the clock and looking forward to getting out of there. I rushed out so quickly that of course I screwed up my nails within 10 feet of the door. There were 3 workers and 2 customers so I can't even give them an excuse for their pace. I just wonder ... Didn't they want to finish their last customer as quickly as I wanted to leave?! I don't plan to come back. read more

However, I came to Unique Hair Salon since I was following Azita from her previous place of work. She is a wonderful hair stylist, very kind (offered me cookies and tea today!) does a great job with your hair, and the most important part being that she really takes her time and has amazing attention to detail. Never once have I felt rushed getting a haircut from her. She always makes it a point to go the extra mile and ensure it looks just how I wanted. I was in desperate need of a mani/pedi and didn't have time to get up to my usual place. From the outside it looks like a cheapie salon. Well I definitely should have asked since in the end I was stuck with a $42 bill. Not a cheapie price... Its right down the block from where I live and I always drive by so I decided to give it a try. Not the cleanest place...they weren't very friendly (not that they usually are, but at least look kind of interested in the only customer in a whole hour!). I think if this was my first experience with a manicure I wouldn't want to ever pay to get my nails done again. The hairdresser seemed like the best part of the place. I have been a patron at unique nails for 15+ years and highly recommend them. Yvonne the owner is terrific. Very accommodating with my last min appointment requests and always takes special care of shaping and nail length. Every time my mother comes in to town she always wants to get a mani & pedi with Yvonne. I also have several friends that have moved out of town that when they come back we go get our nails done (so having a review from out of town or state is no big deal) I have read all the reviews and I have to laugh at Danielle L's review. Yvonne's daughter went off to College and has never stepped foot in the salon since. I would rather go to a place that keeps their employees for years rather than most of the nail salons that have major turn over. They do take credit cards but prefer cash as most small businesses. Yvonne continues to upgrade the salon with new massage chairs, new floors and work desks. She has many colors to choose from and carries different brands.
