I've been going to different dentist these past 3 years and always unhappy with how they treated me like a dumb sucker where they sold you things I might've not needed so I'd spend $$$ that my insurance doesn't cover. One of those expenses was to pay for mouth guard I didn't need, and spent $$$ to have them filled 13 cavities I supposedly had that no one ever told me I had cavity issue. I felt very pressured to pay for things I thought I didn't need. So I kept searching for a new dentist. Now I found one that makes me feel comfortably at home. Dr. Lance Dunham, DDS. on Mason Ave. in Chatsworth. The whole ataff gave me the feeling that they genuinely care for me & my teeth. Doctor Dunham talked to me and treated me like family. He questioned and listened to my health history. He educated me in how to take care of my teeth, and even went over, above & beyond his duty as to provide me with a booklet, which nothing to do with dentistry, but on how to treat my kidney issue when I explained the kidney issue I'm having. That tells me he is a caring and loving individual and see me as "human" instead of a "bank". The dental hygienist was also gentle, very warm and informative. She talked to me like I was her sister and gave me pointers on how to take care of my teeth better and told me I didn't need unexpected expenses because I have good teeth. Dr. Dunham and his staff are so nice. I was a new patient and they make you feel like family. The office is really clean. The dental hygienist was gentle and checked multiple times during my cleaning to make sure I was doing OK. I like that they were honest and didn't try to push any unnecessary procedures. The office is located off Mason and Devonshire in the vons plaza. It was easy to find and had lots of parking. They screen you for covid with a questionnaire and require you to wear an N95 mask when inside. If you don't have one, they will provide one. I've been going to Dr. Dunham for the last 20 years! He is the best dentist and I will not go to another one. He is very honest and I always know that I am receiving the best care. He is kind and gentle. (Here's a crazy story: My friend who never gets cavities went to a new dentist in her neighborhood and that dentist said she had three cavities and needed to get them filled ($300+). She then went to our dentist Dr. Dunham who said she had no cavities and teeth were looking great. The other dentist was probably trying to make money as the normal customer doesn't know how to tell if they have cavities or not. Long story short, Dr. Dunham's office is full of integrity.) During the Covid pandemic, this office has gone above and beyond to make sure all the patients are safe. The front staff wears an N95 mask (worn properly), sanitize everything, and let you do transactions over the phone. Everything is up-to-date with the CDC regulations and I felt very safe when I walked in. You wait in the car until you have your appointment too. The dental hygienists and Dr. Dunham wear an N95 mask and another surgical mask on top of that with a legit helmet face shield, gown they change out per patient, and clean medical gloves. There is an Air purifier in each room, a negative air sucker thing to pull all the aerosols out of the room that is placed close to your mouth. And each room is closed in so there is no air coming from the hallway. Between each patient they thoroughly sanitize everything including the walls to ensure safety for their patients. I am a healthcare provider as well so I paid attention to every little detail and I was very impressed. You can tell these providers really care about your safety :-) (Another crazy story: I am a physical therapist and I was treating a dental hygienist last week and she said they only wear surgical masks and no face shield or gown or anything else ick! I was having a severe toothache and after calling, he took me in IMMEDIATELY. Filled in paperwork, got x-rays and numbed in less than 15 minutes! After he applied anesthetic for the pain, we discussed treating the issue at hand. It's very clear he puts his patients first, caring about their immediate needs (such as pain) before worrying about $$$. I usually get very anxious at the dentist but he has a way of speaking with his patients that is so sweet and funny it keeps you at ease. His demeanor is similar to Mr. Rogers. I'm so pleased with him that I'm writing this review as I'm still in the chair! The rest of his staff are all great as well! I have gone to Dr. Dunham for many, many, years. I fully trust all the advice he gives me for dental health. I do not for once second consider whether he is trying to "take me for a ride." In years past, I have had a broken tooth (which he took me in on a Saturday morning to fix); the need for my wisdom teeth to be taken out (he knew I was going to lose insurance, and coordinated with the oral surgeon accordingly, saving me big, big money); and has recommended a night guard for me after I had grinding issues. He does all of my cleanings, and does it for a great price, with a friendly smile, a kind heart, and a team of support staff that always is pleasant and helpful. I consider myself lucky to have him as a dentist for all these years, and hope he never retires!! A month ago, I had an emergency and was in pain. It was early Saturday morning and decided to call dental offices around my area. To my surprise, I expected Dr Lance office to say that they are close on Saturday, but his work phone is connected to his cell, so his wife picked up. They were close that day but was very kind enough to open their door for me. Now that's service at its finest. I also do not have insurance but Dr Lance was considerate enough to do a monthly plan for my root canal and crowning. A very dear, awesome, and gentle dentist. I used to go here when I was in college, since my parents went there. I have since moved and had to go to other places, but still believe Lance was the best. A UCLA/CAL grad, so good education, but maybe I am biased since I went to UCLA myself. His shots don't hurt like other places and he definitely makes you relaxed. read more

I've been going to Dr. Dunham for probably 3 years now. Excellent Dentist, HOWEVER! This last week I had an emergency and called the office for an appt and the gal who screened me was exceptionally rude! She was more concerned if I had been an established patient than what my condition was. After answering what seemed to be a 100 question grilling interrogation, she asked me very rudely if I was FULLY VACCINATED? I said no I'm not. Instead of making me an appt she said she would speak to DR. Dunham on how he wants to proceed. That was Monday Oct. 25th and still not even a call back from his office. Today is Nov. 2nd! If you don't want to treat me simply because I've chosen not to get an experimental vaccine she should of been honest from the get go! Oh wait then that would be discrimination right? Worthy of a lawsuit? Shame on them! I thought better of this office! Never going back! I only hope karma comes back so you know how it feels! read more

Scheduled an appointment with them for a cleaning as a new patient. They called me about a cancellation for an earlier date and I gladly accepted. I then called them the day before the appointment to ask about xrays and was told they didn't schedule the earlier appointment. i wasn't angry everyone makes mistakes and she was happy to schedule a new appointment for the same day just earlier. I get there at the time we discussed, learning that the time that was scheduled was the previous time that they said wasn't written down. One mistake is understandable we're just human, but two mistakes for the same appointment?? Come on! They said if I wanted I could wait an hour to be seen. Dr. Dunham has been my dentist for years. He's absolutly amazing. He is gental and if you're ever in pain he will always stop until you are comfortable. One thing I love is he never makes you feel bad about flossing or cavities. He has suggestions and will answer any question you have. He's also great about last min apts. I have feared dentists for a very long time; had some very bad experiences with them when I was a kid, and some not-so-great ones as an adult. But hear me when I say this: Dr. Dunham is THE VERY BEST DENTIST I have ever had work on my mouth! Yesterday, I had to have four teeth extracted and a temporary denture installed, and Dr. Dunham did all that COMPLETELY PAINLESSLY! He talked to me all through the procedure, and numbed my mouth so I didn't even feel the injection, much less the teeth being pulled. This man is awesome. I just went in today for my first consultation in regards to getting an implant for a missing tooth. Unlike my other money hungry dentists he actually gave me options as to what could be done for my missing tooth. My other dentist wanted to give me an implant right away without telling me all the problems that could arise since I'm only 18. The Dr. told me everything that can happen and it didn't sound good to me so now im going back tomorrow to get impressions so I can get something like a fake tooth that is removable but still looks likes a legit tooth. I especially liked that he gave me his personal home number just in case there is ever an emergency while its a weekend. My other dentist had a automated phone line that told me to call 911 if I ever had an emergency. On top of all that, when I went in they were able to see my girlfriend's teeth and give her a cleaning on the spot without an appointment. I'm definitely making him my go to dentist for anything I need done. (Also the prices are very reasonable which I loved.) read more
