    Fried chicken dinner
    Jesse L. R.

McGoverns has been a go to restaurant over the years. We have enjoyed their amazing service dining in as well as doing takeout. I have been here following funerals as well as for corporate events. They can house anything in their spacious halls. I would love to say that their food is consistently awesome; however, sadly it is very hit or miss. When it is good, it is good. But when it's not it can be bad. I still feel that they are worthy of four stars due to the awesome service and the fact that I know they are capable of that level of quality. If you have been here before and were not impressed, why not give them another try and see for yourself?

My favorite dish here is the boneless fried chicken dinner! I consider it "comfort food". I have been enjoying this meal since I was a little girl... Tonight, we both started with a cup of chowder and my husband decided to try the veal cutlet and he said it was very good and I of course had the boneless chicken... Delish! Descent sized menu with many daily specials, the service is great and the prices are very affordable. Great restaurant for a large group, or just a quiet dinner for two. If you are seeking 5 stars for ambiance, than this isn't the place... it's filled with a lot of family photos and has the same decor since I can remember, but with that being said, that's what keeps it McGovern's. :)

    The Prime Rib Dinner

This place maybe the only one I go for Prime Rib, but it's seafood is sub-par. Meaning, go somewhere else for decent seafood... The baked stuffed lobster was dry and over cooked. The fried clams and scallops ($28.99) were seriously lacking! I got two whole bellies; the rest were strips. The scallops were point on, but it all comes in a 6X3.5 inch dish! More an appetizer then a meal. I know that they were busy but there's nothing worse than lukewarm fried seafood.

Oh.. my...gosh.... Why did we wait to come here until the days before we MOVED AWAY? It's like walking into Grandma's house, where she makes the most amazing comfort foods that you almost forgot about until they reappeared on this menu. The Clam Bake (with our without clams) is freaking awesome and it comes with a bowl of butter, regardless of whether you get clams or not. Dipping those potatoes and corn on the cob in butter put me in chubby girl heaven. The Bourbon Tips were so incredibly moist it was hard to believe they were steak tips at all. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and salty. Oh my gosh, the Littlenecks and Pork were off the hook. We brought home the extra broth to marinate and make a little portuguese steak with! Also, our waitress was awesome. She was bubbly but not annoying, and got really excited about menu items so much so that we had to order everything she told us! Seriously, I'm bummed we waited so long to come here even though everyone told us to. Comfort food at it's best, that's all there is to know. Eat here.

Absolutely beautiful dining atmosphere…read more We called last minute for reservations and they were fully booked but managed to get our party of 4 on the south patio which is covered. The views were beautiful. We started with cocktails at one of the high top tables- to note there isn't service to these tables we had to bring the drinks from the bar. The parking lot was packed. Testament to a restaurant to be this busy on a Monday night. The food was excellent- well prepared and flavorful. We shared a desert. Everything was well prepared and the flavors were spot on. What a beautiful hidden gem!

Our server was maybe overloaded as it was pretty packed. The drinks were ok. I feel like they are more of an overpriced novelty. I recommend wine instead. The food was also overpriced as well. I wish I took a picture of my salad. I got the wedge salad which was just two small pieces of lettuce which was also a quarter inedible. They charged me 30 dollars for a tiny "salad" that didn't even have all the ingredients/garnishes it was said to come with and the smallest slice of salmon I've ever seen. I was actually laughing at this. It took me all of 5 min to eat my "meal". The calamari was also soggy and imo not cooked well. The shrimp and corn fritters were sooooo good! I recommend them!

The first bite of the zuppa gave me that unforgettable food-critic moment from Ratatouille--one taste instantly transported me back to my childhood and all the wonderful memories of enjoying Victor's cooking with my family. The clams were incredibly fresh, and the rich, flavorful sauce was perfect for soaking up with the garlic bread. Just as my mother always did, I saved some of the zuppa sauce and spooned it over my pasta. The red clam sauce was outstanding--deeply flavorful, perfectly seasoned and filled with fresh seafood. Everything tasted as though it had been prepared with genuine care and decades of experience. Having spent my own career as a Certified Executive Chef and restaurateur, I understand the work behind food of this quality. Victor and Judy delivered an exceptional meal, especially considering they had only celebrated their grand opening the day before. If this first experience is any indication of what is ahead, the new Liberal Club is going to become one of Fall River's most talked-about dining destinations. I'm already looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

When you walk in, the hostess greets you and brings you to either side of the restaurant. It is almost two separate areas, each with its own bar and seating. It is a nice layout. They have very comfortable booths with large tables. Our server came over, introduced herself, and took our drink orders. The drinks were generously sized and well made. They have a wide variety of cocktails, beers, and wine. They have an enormous menu with a variety of appetizers, burgers, salads, and entrees. They also have a "specials" sheet featuring rotating specials. We ordered their fried string beans and some Caesar salads to start. Both were very good. My wife had chicken parmigiana for her entree, our friends had salmon and cod, and I had the whole belly fried clam plate (YAY!). The portions were GENEROUS. My wife's chicken parmigiana was enough for three people. Best of all, my order of clams was enormous and perfectly made. I am a complete snob when it comes to fried clams. I rarely get them, and I can say that these were among the best I have had anywhere. Price and value were excellent. We said we would be back, and we made that official. Our second visit was just as good as the first. I had a beautifully prepared Prime Rib and my wife had salmon. Don't be like us and wait 15 years. Give this place a try ASAP.
