We were looking for a local sandwich place to cater a work event and a coworker recommended Robert's Deli. We made a quick phone call and spoke with someone who was very helpful. We discussed what we were looking for and what our budget was and they made a recommendation that fit our needs. We ended up with assorted sandwich trays, including sandwiches for our vegetarian and vegan employees, as well as house made potato salad and pasta salad. The team really enjoyed the lunch and we will absolutely use Robert's Deli for a future work event. While this may be a well established neighborhood shop, known for serving up delicious sandwiches they are under new ownership and are committed to delivering the same great quality with awesome customer service. I'd absolutely recommend them for any catering event, they were super easy to work with and the trays they prepared were perfect. read more

I am definitely not going back again. I am giving it two stars because the food is good, to be honest. But today, I got racially profiled. I went to charge my phone before I ate lunch and the owner lady assumed that I was trying to "probably" stealing data because I had a charger with multiple outlets. Not sure why she assumed such a thing--her co worker politely explained that it was a phone charger but the owner attitude towards me did not change. I think it was because I was a young black man wearing an Addis's hoodie. Little did she know that I was a local Pastor who is very involved in community work in Providence. Or maybe she was bias because people of color don't usually eat at her cafe. I liked the food but the customer service terrible. I always felt uncomfortable walking in sometimes any ways...this negative experience confirmed my feelings. read more

I just went in to grab lunch, I walked in and the employees are yelling at each other. So I am already kind of sketched out. I decide to order a chicken cutlet. The employee takes the chicken which is not kept cold puts it in a dish and brings it to the back??? When she comes back I noticed there was tomato sauce on it, I told her it was supposed to be a chicken cutlet, I was going to get lettuce, mayo, and cheese on it. She says NO you said chicken parm. I replied NO, that is not what I wanted. Then she starts arguing with me. I decided to leave. I suggest the owners speak to their employees about customer service and how to please the guest. Horrible customer service! Under info it says "good for kids" they had no high chair, and when my son was playing with the salt and pepper shakers. We were asked to take it away from him. Why would you allow things on your table that are to fragile for a child to play with. Very disappointed to also see they did not use gloves when preparing the sandwiches. HORRIBLE!! Went to Robert's deli when it was located on Smith street they moved now to chalkstone probably have been there for a while now.. So my boyfriend suggested we go there for lunch. We ordered 2 steak sandwiches one with cheese and 1 with Robbie and 2 orange sodas was $27.95.. I said to the woman behind the counter which lacked personality she did. How is this $27 for 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas??? She proceeds to tell me it's what you got on the steak which was cheese on one. and cheese and Robbie on the other.. mind you the steak is already cooked they put it in a basket put some cheese on it and put it in the Microwave and throw it in the bun the put in a basket with a wilted pickle and give it to you.. Not my idea of a fine delicatest that would charge $28 for 2 sandwiches and 2 sodas never ever, ever, again.. Not to mention The owner made me feel like how dare I question $28 for her extravagant steak sandwich that she just microwaved.. STAY AWAY! My wife got me a chicken parm sub and drove home to north providence. I opened it up and it was an eggplant parm sub. So I drove all the way back. No parking, waited in line 5min while they made each meal one by one, and finally they asked what I needed. I said they mistakenly gave me the wrong sub. THEY insisted not....Repeatedly ! We never eat eggplant it's gross. They told me that's what she ordered and they remember. I WOULD NEED TO BUY ANOTHER SUB. I was going to at first. But I only had a Credit card. $10 limit. So I threw the sandwich out. And left. And drove the 15min back home. Total waste of about an hour, and pissed me off the rest of the day! All for a $6.75 sub. read more

Way too pricey, a Blt, tuna sandwich with NOTHING else, 15 bucks. Maybe a bag of chips would have made it a little more reasonable.

In the past we've had hit or miss experiences here but still like to try because the first time we went they were amazing. Went today and ordered two BLTs with cheese, heated up. No Cheese on either and neither were toasted. Also very minimal bacon (2 slices maybe) looked like $8.00 lettuce wrap. I'm so sad that it was that poor because we really wanted a good deli. Nice little spot on Chalkstone that is very fresh, bright, and clean. They make their own mozzarella and it was chewy, tangy, and delicious. I had a broccoli rabe and mozzarella sandwich on a wrap. It was great, except the rabe was so watery it was literally pouring out when I picked it up. Good thing I got it "for here!" LOts of sandwiches listed as well as a specials board. I live in the area so I decided to check it out. I used to go to the prior establishment & let me say they changed up the place and it looks very good! I had the best Reuben I ever ate in my life here, lovingly prepared with Jewish deli-quality corned beef! Sandwiches are generous, appealing snd scrumptious. It's one thing to review about food, it's another to review about the restaurant. I just had the worst customer experience of my existence. I used to go to Roberts all the time as I lived across the street from them on Smith St. throughout college. I was really excited they reopened (and consequently got the whole scoop because the owner was telling her whole life story to another patron while I waited) and we starving for lunch. I had always remembered the food being decent. I ordered two sandwiches and was one of two people in the place besides the staff (at noon, on a lunch hour). I say the because it's relevant to note, there was n room for any distractions in me placing my order. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich and a chicken ranch wrap. I was so excited because it smelled really great inside and the place was actually quite charming compared to their prior location. I took my food to go and when I got back to my office one of the sandwiches was an eggplant parm of which my colleague who ordered the sandwich is fully allergic to. I was unable to return to the deli so I sent the incorrect sandwich recipient in my place. This is when things did not go well. He returned the sandwich and they outright refused to fix the order. They basically played like I was some sort of idiot and I blatantly ordered the wrong sandwich. In addition, they offered to make a chicken parm sandwich at full price. No replacement for their mistake, at all. The unsavory individual behind the counter had zero customer service and zero empathy. Flat and to the point, he didn't care that he made a mistake. In this economy no less! Don't you want to please your customers and retain business? I will never be back here ever again. In addition, my chicken bacon ranch wrap was terrible with zero flavor. That pretty much settles it. Bad service and a sh*t sandwich. I will never be back here! read more

i'm so glad this place is under new management. i go at least once a week for my roast beef, mayo, bbq sauce,lettuce, banana pepper rings, sharp provolone topped off with coleslaw. the sandwich is so delicious and the new staff is so friendly and happy . the place is clean and so easy to get too. read more

Busy Deli with delicious home cooked Italian food. You could tell the Chicken soup was home made. The turkey Make My Day is my favorite, also great Chicken Parm, rotating specials & pasta salads.
