Had to have my entire frame replaced so came back to Landis to have it done about 1.5 years ago. Granted, yes, its been 1.5 years, however, when I tried to take it out this past weekend, the handlebars were super wobbly and the neck was loose. Took it into another bike shop and they tightened the screws. I called Landis and they told me they usually check every job a few times, which for sure makes sense. Woman on the phone said that my screws came loose. I am not entirely convinced that my screws came loose as they are screws that are laid in and require a special too to tighten them. The lesson here is to make sure you check your bike before leaving the shop. Yes, it could have been that the screws came loose on the neck, but not likely as the guy at the other shop basically had to tighten them a lot. They just were barely screwed in. It was actually kind of dangerous as I was riding up and down hills and it was a bit terrifying. read more

We live 40 minutes away in Queen Creek but this is our "go to" bike shop. A few weeks ago, we bought two Specialized Creo e-assist bikes. They arrived and were built for us within a week. James and Keith worked with us to dial in the bikes. My bike had a slight tick and squeal once we rode them at home. Keith was great at adjusting it today and test rode it twice to make sure everything is working properly. Everyone is friendly and helpful and they have a nice selection of bikes and accessories! I went into Landis Cyclery today without an appointment to see if they would put a stem on my bike. Everyone behind the counter was already working on a bike, but a young man took my bike back there and had a stem on it for me in eight minutes free of charge. I decided to upgrade my $100 Walmart bike. I first tried a different bike shop in the area. I wasn't having the best experience so I left and went to LC. Hank gave me excellent customer service. The kind of customer service in a perfect world you would always get but rarely do. He answered my laundry list of questions thoroughly. He was professional. He was awesome. I purchased a mountain bike which is my second bicycle. I bought it from this store, not online. They put it together. I could have taken the floor model but I did not resist getting a new one they put together. I picked it up after a few days. Pricing was very competitive. I have been looking around and I saved around $200. The first time I rode the bike, I noticed right away the shifter clicks precisely. The other bicycle from another store would hang and I would need to apply a little bit of pressure for the gear to change. They provide great service. I'm very happy with the purchase. read more

While my favorite spin studio does offer shoes to wear during class for free, after going to their anniversary spin ride where shoes were constantly being worn and used, I noticed the wet sweaty shoes were being passed around. Never have given it much thought before, it was then when I realized that I should probably buy my own pair of spin shoes. Enter Landis Cyclery, a loved local business since 1912! This place is older than my grandma! You can repair your bike here, do bike maintenance, and even do a "bike fitting." They sell all sorts of bikes, bike accessories, shoes, and fitness treats. Everything is organized. Need assistance? Their friendly staff is there for you. On my visit, I managed to snag some Shimano bike shoes during their Closeout Shoe Sale. I was stuck between a pair of Bontrager Femmes and some Shimano's so I asked a staff for his opinion. He was super knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and gave me his recommendation for the Shimano's even though the Bontrager Femmes cost more money. I appreciated his honesty on not trying to up-sell a product. He even helped me put on the cleats for my shoes when I finished paying. Now that's service! I believe his name is Vaughn. I don't know why I go to spin class or what I'm training for but boy do I hope it never happens! read more

Recently we purchased a new bike for my 9 year old granddaughter. It was supposed to arrive 80% assembled with "easy directions" to complete the final assembly. Three hours later it was assembled but we weren't confident that it was done properly so my husband took it to Landis to have them check it to make sure it was safe. When he took it he was told it would be a week or two before they could look at it and we were devastated. My husband explained that I had been sick, the grands out of town and we were finally celebrating on the 29th. They agreed to help us by checking it, fixing handlebars and brakes and ensuring us that it was now safe! I'm so grateful and we can't wait to see her face when she sees this cute pink bike with a basket. Landis has always helped us with the kids bikes and mine as well. The guys there really know what they are doing and charge reasonably. We are so lucky to have them close by and trust that they will help keep us all safe! We love Landis Cyclery!!!! read more

While on the hunt for a Salsa Timberjack SS 29er, the Landis team was unable to track one down and even made direct contact with Salsa to check availability. After confirming that there were no models available nationwide, Hank at the Warner location accommodated my specific desire for a single speed setup. Him and his team worked to source parts needed to covert one of their in stock XT models to SS for me, and set the bike up properly. They even discovered that Salsa had shipped the bike incorrectly with a non-Tubeless-ready rear tire and got it all sorted for me. Everyone at Landis really provided top-notch service and experience. Excellent customer service. Was in here today and the staff of Landis Cyclery safeguarded me from a misadventure of my own creation. After taking my back bike tire off I brought it in for Landis to fix a flat. Was a pain free experience, dropped the tire off got a text when it was ready, ran an errand in the meanwhile, and it was ready lickity split. Once I got home I struggled to get the back tire back on (my own user error). So I went back to Landis and the young man whom helped me originally showed me how to properly reconnect the tire. I live in Chicago, and I lent a good friend my Surly Bridge Club for a bikepacking trip near Tempe. We trusted this shop with the task of re-boxing my bike to ship it back to me here in Illinois. When my bike arrived back here in Chicago, I opened the box to find the most disappointing packing job I think I've ever seen. Let me preface this - I work at a bike shop in Chicago. I'm comfortable working on my own bikes and have ample experience boxing both this bike and others I own. I know how to properly secure a bike for shipping to avoid this exact issue. First and foremost, no effort was made to protect the rear dropouts or the derailleur - no styrofoam, no plastic frame supports around the dropout, nothing. The box that was used was too wide, and allowed for plenty of side-to-side movement of my bike, meaning my rear derailleur spent the whole trip back to Chicago slamming against the side of the box, which is quite obvious when you look at the shredded cardboard in the photos. This caused a number of issues - primarily a bent derailleur hanger. And, upon further inspection while I was re-assembling my bike, the rear triangle is bent too. Bravo, Landis. The poor packing job was made worse in that the rear wheel and crank were not secured in any way to the frame, allowing the bike to roll back and forth inside the too-large box. This issue, coupled with the bent hanger, caused my derailleur cage to get caught in the spokes of my rear wheel and now I've got some nice, deep scratches on the derailleur and spokes, and a bent derailleur cage. As a recap, the poor packing job that Landis did for my Surly left me with a bent derailleur hanger, bent rear triangle, scratched and damaged derailleur, and deep scratches on the spokes of my rear wheel. I planned to fix the damage as best I can and just move on because hey, it happens sometimes, right? But I called the shop to speak with someone about the damage to my bike and to express my disappointment in the service they provided. I believe I spoke with a K. Atkins. I was a bit shocked when the attitude of the person I spoke with was, summed up, dismissive and pretty rude to me. Following the call, I sent him an email explaining the damage and attached photos - I never received a response. I was told on the phone that Landis boxes lots of bikes and never has this problem - so naturally it's my fault and my problem, right? "What do you want, us to comp you a new derailleur or something?" Nope, but I'd appreciate accountability and making it right when someone fails to do their job properly. This very likely would not have been an issue had the mechanic who boxed my bike taken the time and care to properly secure it. Bikes are an important hobby of mine and I take a lot of pride in the bikes I've built, and to be dismissed like that after the damage caused by Landis' carelessness left quite a poor impression of this shop in my mind. Not my usual LBS but my wife and I were running a bunch of errands this morning and a quick bike shop stop was on that list. the guys got me a couple small parts I needed quick friendly for a fair price,called their other locations to check for one small part they didn't have (that's absolutely impossible to find with all the supply chain constraints going on right now) You really can't ask for more. I needed a spoke for an older bike on a Sunday. The younger clerk said that their mechanics were off on Sunday and their spokes were cut. He checked at the other store, but it had the same report. I asked if all of those types of spokes were cut and not off the shelf and he said yes. I asked if any other shop was open that might have the spoke I needed. Another clerk indicated that mechanics at bike shops don't work on weekends and no other shop in the area could help me. I called Freeride Cycle in Gilbert a few minutes later and they had the exact spoke I needed and it was off the shelf. Minutes later I had the spoke in hand and was heading home. read more

Landis has always been my go-to for all things bicycle. I've gone to three of the locations, and the guys there are always helpful, knowledgeable, and provide great service. Just this past Friday, I received exceptional service by Alex, and another young man there (I'm so sorry, I don't recall his name, but he was awesome!!) at the Warner shop. I came in to just get new tires; as they changed those out, they advised that a new chain and cassette was needed, and they could do it while I waited. I want to thank the both of them for the work they did, and for giving the smoothest and quietest ride I've ever had in my Trek!! Saturday I rode 65 miles, and I don't think it would've been possible had it not been for the work and service they provided. Kudos to Landis for always being at the top of their game, and always doing it with a smile!! read more

I drove up from Tucson to pick up a Trek FX Sport 5 because no one in southern Arizona has one and the wait list (due to Covid) is six or seven months. They had one in stock so I bought it and made the drive. Staff was very friendly and I took it home. When I got home I noticed one of the pedals was bent in a little on the side. It is still usable (and I am using it), but it is clear that they were used pedals that had been banged up somehow. The brand (Wellgo) is not the brand that comes with Trek. When I spend two thousand dollars on a high-end carbon fiber bike I expect it to come with all the parts. That is not the worst part though. When I took it for the first test ride I got exactly one block from my home when the front brakes fell apart and became unusable! I live in the Tucson Mountains and it is a good thing I had not started the downhill section or I could have been in a serious accident. When I buy a new two thousand dollar bike I expect it to last more than one block. Since I live in Tucson I paid my local shop to fix it rather than drive back to Tempe. I used their online form to let them know what happened (over a week ago) and they didn't even have the decency to reply. A simple apology would have been nice. I will never do business with Landis again. read more

Called ahead and scheduled 2 bikes for a tune-up service. Brought them in and the staff member did a quick inspection and informed me of what he thought needed to be done and asked if I had any additional observations for him to note. Bikes were completed the next day, but the nice thing is that the shop is large enough to hold your bikes until you're ready to pick up. I came to pick them up and they informed me of everything that was done to them and noted that on the receipt as well. The bikes look very clean and have been riding great so far. read more

How to make someone feel less than.....IGNORE THEM PERIOD. I went Landis Cyclery Chandler and waited to checkout. Sales associate was less than a foot away from me and they never stopped their "shooting breeze" conversation; then another SA came out of the backroom and asked the person BEHIND me if they needed help then proceeded to see to the needs of another couple coming into the store, never once making eye contact or asking if I needed help. Normally I ignore being treated like this but could not this day. I will never shop here again. Too bad because I've frequented this store before and never been so blantantly ignored. read more

Sold me 2 thorn resistant inner tubes and both went flat within 2 months, no refund offered. Inner tubes were also insanely overpriced with the thorn resistant tubes going for 11 plus while normal tubes were 8. I ended up buying a spare inner tube at Bike Saviours on Broadway for 5 dollars. Spent 75 dollars for a bike tune up to basically fix my spokes and adjust the brakes. Lo and behold the same spoke broke just 2 months later. Going to a local bike shop I expect the employees to at least more engaging and even knowledgeable, but all I got there was very basic responses that almost even sounded condescending. I got this feeling that because the bike I brought in to get serviced wasn't "their" brand they didn't treat me or the bike with any respect. It's unfortunate because most of the local bike shops I have been to have been extremely accommodating with the bike that I brought in even if I hadn't purchased it there. This location is right on my commute which is great, but because the service and products were so terrible I'm never going back and have so far recommended that none of my family or friends go either. read more

I didn't want to buy my kids another "cheap" bike from somewhere like Target so a friend recommended Landis for something quality and to get assistance with the proper sizing. However, when we arrived all the staff members were busy helping others, so we looked at the bikes while waiting our turn. Then 2 other customers came in and were helped immediately. Not a huge deal so we waited longer and I made sure to signal to one employee that we were waiting for assistance. But instead of coming over to help us, the available staff disappeared into the back. Maybe dealing with kids is too much of a hassle, or the youth bikes don't offer enough profit? I don't know the reason but we left and headed to a different local bike shop where I ended up buying 3 kids bikes and special ordered another for my wife. 2-star because the price was better than where I ended up buying. read more

Newbie to getting a nice bike. Landis's staff went above and beyond to help me get a wonderful bike. They had to transfer my bike from another store for me to pickup. After buying it I purchased 3 accessories on their website and figured I would pick them up and put them on when I got my bike. A few months ago my husand and I moved into the neighborhood near Landis Cyclery on Warner. My husband was really excited to see that we had a local bike shop nearby and paid them a visit for brake pads. As a supporter of local bike shops, he placed a special order with them knowing well in advance that he could have purchased the product online for a better deal and same delivery. The employee who helped him was named Bob. When the product arrived a week later, my husband went to pick it up and upon returning home and opening the box, my husband realized that Bob had ordered him the wrong part. When he returned to the store, Bob tried to look up the right part but told us that no one made the brake pads my husband needed. He then suggested that my husband buy new brakes. After hearing this, my husband decided to return the product for a full refund which made Bob upset. He became very rude and told my husband that he was going to charge my husband a 20% restocking fee since the box was opened. After they exchanged a few words, Bob eventually gave my husband his full refund. This was the worst service we have EVER seen. We will never support this bike shop again. Rude customer service. The only time I will ever return here is to buy simple accessories I am knowledgeable on and can put on my bike myself. Or to get the hot pink I'm with Awesome socks I love. That's about the extent of it. I've been here on two occasions. The first was to start my bike search. When I informed a store employee of what I was going to use my bike for and ask what bikes may suit my needs, I was only shown one row of bikes that were pretty much all the same and all by the SAME manufacturer. I was told that was all they could offer me out of the tons of other bikes they had in their store. The second time I biked there with a friend on my new bike, Lady Eleanor herself as a friend had some questions about her bike. They were fairly good at answering her questions. However, I was appalled when they stopped me dead in my tracks and asked me what was wrong with my bike. I panicked for only a short while til I realized they were going overboard on the fact that my pedals are not where most pedals are since my bike doesn't have much of a frame in the center. The employee kept going on about how it must be awkward to pedal (which it's not) and then called other employees over to gawk and make odd comments about my bike. Funny enough on the way out a woman drooled over my gorgeous bike with its interesting design and asked where I got it. I politely told her where.. and it wasn't at Landis. read more

This place is terrible. The people who work there are rude and unattentive. I am a marathon runner and have started using a brand of fuel that is sold at very few places, and they have the best selection. Against every fiber of my being, I had to give this place some additional business, despite my terrible experiences purchasing accessories prior. MY MISTAKE. I rolled up to the shop after a long strenuous hill run and was in desperate need for some recovery fuel (within that critical 60 minutes). Low and behold I had just missed them since they closed at 6pm. But one of the guys was there running a spin class outside and let me in - pretty nice, I thought! I popped in, grabbed what I needed and headed up to the counter. I apologized to the guy working in there, saying I recognized they were closed and I really appreciated it. Not only do I get zero response, but I get zero acknowledgment. No eye contact, no "hi, I'll be right with you," not even a "lady wait your turn," nothing. Like I didn't exist. So, I patiently stood at the counter with my 3 packets while the employee poked around the repair area, avoiding me, waiting for the customers ahead of me to shop around. I could see there was zero chance he was going to talk to me, much less ring me up, while he waited for them to look at shirts, shoes, saddles, you name it. After 20 minutes (no joke, 20 minutes) of standing around completely unacknowledged, I threw the packets on the counter and walked out. The spin class guy outside watched me leave, empty handed. Who knows if he did the math on the lost sale, because not only will I never purchase fuel from them again, I will go elsewhere when I decide to buy a road bike. I now order all of my fuel online.
