Well this is actually a story of good and bad. The good is that they had the tire I was looking for. Whether old and nearing obsolescence, I was trying to match what I had on my back tire and during my phone search yesterday I found that they had what I was looking for. Looking around their store I must say they had los of merchandise. The bad... seriously weighing the $10 fee for installing my new tire on the rim, I decided to let them do it. Now I certainly am no bicycle expert, just a person who likes to ride. One would expect the people who work in a bike store to be the experts. This tire is directional, as was the one that needed to be replaced. They didn't care. Perhaps it makes no difference which side the lever is on but to your anal, non-professional, you expect the lever to be on the same side it was on with the previous tire. One would expect that the serviceman would look at the old tire and then match up the new tire. This did not happen and now I basically wasted the $10 as I had to take the tire/rim apart and install it the way I think is correct. Details... to some it matters to some it doesn't. Attention to detail is something that matters to me. As a professional in a different field it means a lot. In the end I say... LANDIS, use them to buy if the price,is right but for service of a bicycle, go elsewhere. Go somewhere where details, no matter how small and perhaps insignificant actually matter. read more

I've bought a couple bikes from the dealership and been super happy with them. I just bought my levo from a gentleman named Kevin, and was very excited, but a gentleman by the name of Jeff ruined any chance of me spending another dollar with this shop. I came in to pick up my bike from Service and had a buddy with me. We took about 30 seconds to turn on the bike and look it over and Jeff told us we needed to go outside and basically kicked us out. I highly recommend Kevin to anybody, but Jeff unfortunately ruined my experience with them. read more

Hudson understood immediately what I needed, found an affordable wheel that would work well and then suggested the best solutions for cassettes, rotors etc that would get me rolling. He was totally professional, settle wheel up for tubeless in just a few minutes, mounted the tire and rotor and got me back out ready to ride, while still suggesting the best options to control costs. Landis on Southern ave in Tempe Over delivers again!!!!!!!! Needed a emergency tire repair on a Sunday morning on my daily driver. Rolled it in the door at 11:05am it was on the rack at 11:06 ... .They put in a new tube and sealant, much needed brake pads since the wheel was off and I was back on the road at noon. Not one to write bad reviews but this place really left a bad taste. Called beforehand to make sure they replace bike tubes - they confirmed. So I hauled my tires up there. It was a weird feeling in there - they treat you like a nuisance. They told me they dont do these tubes and id "have to figure it out on my own. Maybe we could charge you $100+ but we dont even want to do it." I looked at another guy working there and he rudely says "im not helping you, he is(pointing at the other guy)" It was crazy, I left and ill never be back! read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop and the staff! First off, I was greeted promptly when I entered a few weeks ago. I explained i had a very bad experience with the bike shop that I bought my electric bike at and was looking for a new shop I go trust and use going forward. I also explained I was anti-helmet but, had seen some nasty spills and knew it was time, I also didn't want to "break the bank" but wanted something comfortable, with as much air-flow as possible and great protection! They took their time and found me the perfect helmet that was on clearance too! Well, l should have wrote a review for that experience alone BUT... here is were it even gets more amazing! I have a 2019 Specialized Como Turbo 3. I noticed something wasn't right (this has happened once before were the old bike shop tried to scam me) and I took it in to Landis (remember I didn't buy it through them). They said they would take a look at it but they suspected the frame was cracked down where the motor was located. Sure enough, that turned out to be the situation. They contacted Specialized for me, and a big shout out to Specialized who stepped up and sent a brand new Specialized Como Turbo 4 to replace this bike that I've had less than a year. Landis put the Como 4 together, transferred my rack, water bottle holders, battery lock (I had an Abus lock keyed to match it) mirror, tire inserts and phone holder from my old bike to the Como 4. When I went in to pick it up, I asked how much I owed? And they said, "don't worry about it". On top of that, they said, things may adjust and feel free to bring it back and they will give it a FREE tune-up!! Yes, I took money out of my wallet to ensure all the guys there could have pizza on me. But, more importantly... that is just... AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

I ride my bike everywhere. And, after messing up the fine turning of gears, brakes, and tire misalignment when replacing flat tires and tubes, I finally elected to have the professionals take over. Smart move. The pros at Landis are quick, painless, and inexpensive (considering the alternatives). The times I rolled in for service, I was out in less than 20 minutes, and peddling smoothly for under $20 bucks. This shop has always had 4-6 techs working at the same time. And, their continuous conversation will entertain you while you wait. Further, they will not make you feel stupid or like an outcast for your ignorance or for joining their banter. Great place for high quality bikes. I have no knowledge of bikes I just knew I wanted to get my brother a bike that would last him awhile. Ended up with a Trek bike & had them switch out the pedals. The staff was super helpful & communicated well with me. They offer a tune up to 90 days after purchase, might be utilizing not sure if it's needed yet. I'll be in soon to get myself a bike as well. Great guys, I bought a bike 3x the price I was looking to spend and they were super cool when handling a repair I needed a year later.

Called the store to see if they had a certain type of cycling shoe for a gym bike. The person on the phone was so unhelpful and just said "well you need to find that out" like.. your a cycle expert store. Shouldn't you know? Good and prompt service. I had a wheel that was bent during an incident. I had tried to get help at some other shops, they weren't available or their service was terrible. I was in and out in about 10 minutes with a new wheel at a decent price. But the service always makes or break a deal. This is the best bike shop I've been to in AZ. Went in as a brand new rider with no clue at all. I had a ton of stupid questions and they patiently answered all of them lol. These guys are very knowledgeable, honest and no pressuring in buying at all. I went in there 3 days in a row and they hooked me up with the perfect bike. Specialized fuse comp 29. BACKGROUND Cleaning my garage inspired me.... Well, actually Marie Kondo's book The Life Changing Magic of Tiddying Up inspired me, but finishing my garage was a visual affirmation of what I am capable of accomplishing when I'm inspired. Which began a positive feedback to accomplish more and more and more... which leads me to my bike. My bike situation was a thorn in my side. I bought my bike ages ago and always liked my bike, but couldn't get it to work right, specifically the tires were always getting flats for no apparent reason. Since I paid a lot for it at the time and felt that it was a good quality bike, I just got frustrated with it constantly being broken and put it outside, I'm not proud to say. Once my garage was finished, I couldn't wait to get my bike fixed. So I called Landis Cyclery and spoke with the manager Jim. SERVICE EXPERIENCE Jim suggested that I take pictures of my bike and email them to him to see if he could even fix my bike before I dragged it in, which was a fantastic idea. I emailed him the photos and he said he could definitely help me and to bring my bike in. I brought my bike in within the hour and Jim checked out my bike and said he could restore it and still keep the cost reasonable. Jim called me a week later and said I could come pick up my bike. He replaced my chain, gears, tires, grips and gave my bike a tune up. The best part of the experience was getting back on my bike and riding it for hours, which makes me feel so free and happy. CONCLUSION I would absolutely refer everyone to Jim at Landis Cyclery for all of their biking needs. I feel confident that even if he couldn't do the job or have what you needed, he would give you solid advice. But most likely, he could and would enthusiastically help. 5/5 RECOMMEND OF NOTE *There is plenty of parking. *The shop is RIGHT off the 101 Freeway Southern exit. read more

I went into Landis with my dad on Saturday to look at bikes for him. My dad is 6 foot 9 and we weren't sure If a bike would be big enough for him. My dad just retired and wanted something to pass the time. When we walked in we were instantly greeted by Dave. My dad and I explained what we were looking for in a bike for him. My main concern is safety for an extremely tall guy. Dave was so patient and took tons of time to explain everything to us. My dad was even able to test drive a few models. We found the perfect bike with tons of bells and whistles for an amazing price! Dave even took the time to explain helmets and what the difference was between a few. I'm not sure what the problem is but every time I go into this store I get completely dismissed, today is stood around for nearly 30 minutes and didn't even get a greeting. Several People walked in AFTER ME and were greeted and immediately approached/helped. Is it because I was wearing gym clothes? Under 30? I didn't wheel my bike in... maybe that was the issue. I'm really disappointed because Landis is big and they're my local shop so I try to support these businesses over shopping online but if this is how it's gonna be I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Retail experiences are subjective at most shops but what I really look for in my LBS is building a relationship with the service folks and knowing that I can trust them to do the right thing for me. I used to patronize a local competitor for the last 5 years and after my first experience at Landis (Southern) recognized that that there's so much I've been missing: 1. No matter how busy the mechs are, they always stop, say hello and try to understand your issue. Even with backlogs for tune ups running a week, if they can address your issue within say 15 minutes they will. This has been the case 3 or 4 times with anything from a broken spoke, tube replacement to repairing a Specialized Air Tool pump i thought I'd have to send I'm for warranty on the spot! The service at Southern (and Warner locations) is top notch. 2. Closed loop follow up. The guys at the shop call you when they say they are going to. This sounds minor but it matters. I hate having to micro manage partners. 3. Earn Trust. Related to #3, both shops I've been to have earned my trust by genuinely trying to understand my problem and attempting to diagnose on the spot. This typically has led to easy fixes that have me walking out with my bike vs a ticket that will keep me off the road or trials for a week.
