They still have you write down your own scores and will probably never get the cigarette smoke out from the walls and carpet. I have going to Landmark before I was legal to drink because of the bowling and arcade. Now that I'm older... I have taken my daughter & boyfriend there , both loved it. Growing up on the Eastside, this was and still is the place to go. English darts, pool tables, 3 bars, bowling and an arcade. What's not to like? After hearing so much about Landmark lanes, I finally hit it up with some friends on a Tuesday night. I was incredibely delighted to find out their deal for the night was $2 for ANY beer available. Yes, that's right: $2 taps, $2 imports, you get the drift... The Lanes is a great place to hang with friends. It is really a huge underground arcade. There are three different bars, more than a few dart rooms, a video-arcade area and bowling lanes to boot. The interior is a little crummy, but I could have really cared less. One thing that did bother me was the smokey atmosphere. I don't mind some smoke at the bar, but this place was like a smoke pit. It really was almost to the point of overwhelming I would forgo the bowling because the lanes are old, beat up and the shoes they give you have broken heals. My friend was refused entry because she didn't "look enough" like her ID, which was due to the fact that a few months ago she was attacked that left her with stitches across her nose and a missing front tooth. Not only did they force her to relive her pistol whipping attack, she wasn't allowed in. The ID is totally valid and I feel she was discriminated in part for her seemingly queer appearance, not her Id, which looks just like her. I do not believe Landmark is a LGBTQ safe space. I am boycotting the venue until they work to change this. read more

I love landmark as a place, I just wish they would put some money back into it. I took my nephew to the arcade last year and again last month, nothing was fixed, just more things were broken. Last night I took my brother bowling there and the computer kept saying we got 4, 5, even 6 pins when we didn't get any. Which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I would rather have my actual score. Also my brother had a problem. He spins his ball and he said the lanes weren't oiled up so the ball wasn't doing what he wanted it to. I'd love to see the place in better shape and fixing those 3 things would be a great start!! read more

The good: Three separate bars. If you didn't like the crowd, staff, or music in one, you could just go to a different one. The bad: Most of the games in the arcade are always broken. Mitchell Novelty used to maintain them quite well, but just care about the money coming in now, whether the games actually work or not. They're trying to be a cross between Chuck E Cheese and Dave and Busters, neither of which I would ever step foot in. Automatic scoring sucks. There was a charm to the place when hand scoring needed to be done. That's long gone. Having to walk up the stairs to smoke sucks, but it's not their fault. Walker vowed to repeal the smoking ban if elected. Guess what never happened when he was elected. There are plenty of bars around here that chose to not have smoking inside them. Everybody respected that. Instead, institute a state-wide smoking ban. The ugly: I used to go there every day or night. I smelled like Landmark 24/7, even after taking a shower. I didn't care. However, once the Pritchett brothers sold the place to questionable people, the place went down the crapper. Yeah yeah, it was a dump before but got much worse after the sale. Having seen the bug zappers (smoke eaters) being cleaned in dirty water is why the place still reeks - because nobody cleaned anything in over 20 years. Glade bombs don't cut it. The nostalgic: Dollar hot dogs from those rotating racks that you mostly see in gas stations now left the bar about 20 years ago. Big ass tacos every Monday night in the side bar. Also long gone. Some of the best times I ever had there. read more

Wish I could give landmark less than one star. Went expecting to have a good time bowling with friends on a Saturday night. Instead was told that there was a waiting list even though there were several lanes open. The staff was condescending and rude. Beer was overpriced and the atmosphere could best be described trying to be hip but not at all fun, a crowd pretending to be a party. If you're looking for the best bowling experience in Milwaukee head to bayview bowl. Always a good time and prices that can't be beat! read more

Called to see if bowling was open and that we would be arriving in 15 minutes, girl on phone said we should be fine and there was no wait. We show up within 15 minutes and the guy at the counter rudely told us the wait was 3 hours. We told him we were quoted no wait on phone, he said whoever answered the phone had nothing to do with bowling. It looked like half the lanes were unoccupied, maybe someone reserved them or they were down for maintenance. Also half the arcade games were broken. read more

This place was pretty good- a nice atmosphere and not too crowded. However, my bf and I came up to the bar to get some drinks and the bartender-a young girl-pretty much ignored us from the get go. Ok, maybe she was busy and didn't see us (my man is 6'1 and there weren't that many people at the bar, but we gave her a benefit of doubt), so we wait. Nope, after walking right past us and making me worried that we died and became ghosts, she looked at us and walked right up to a business looking guy that came up AFTER us and sat right next to us! Seriously?? Yes, I'm sure a single business guy would tip her more for getting her flirt on, but that's not how things should work. We pretty much got up right there and with a frustrated "fuck this bullshit" went to another side of the bar, to a different bartender. Funny enough, another bartender that was standing and doing nothing went up to snoop on us, like we called her "an ignorant bitch" or told her to go die in a fire. No, we just got tired of being purposely ignored and went to a different place. Probably won't be back just cause of the uppity attitude and favoritism. I have been here a couple times. It is ok, unless you actually care about bowling. As a place to have a couple beers with your drinking buddies it is legit. As far as lanes go- they are the worst I have ever seen. I started rolling league a few years ago, at different alleys. I played with the Pinheads for couple years in MILW and the Ninja Squirrels in Tempe, AZ too. There was nothing for carrydown (Oil that is pushed or carried down the lane by balls when there is bowling on the lane) in site. It was actually visibly tacky. The coefficient of friction was UNBELIVEABLE. It was like playing with a basketball! I could even get my 14 lb ball to reach the backends. (The last 20ft. of a bowling lane) I roll about a 60-65 degree axis of rotation. (This is a measure of the direction of the initial rotation on the ball with respect to the lane. It is a measurement of the angle between the initial spin axis and the foul line running across the lane) And I could not keep the ball out of the gutter. I went with my niece Reagan and she had fun. She used the bumpers. I would go again for comradery, but the alleys were rough. Like bad enough where I need to have my ball cleaned. They may clean up the lanes soon, and it'll be fine, I did go right after the NYE Holiday. For all I know, someone may have just had spilt Asti Spumante all over the place. read more

I have tried this place a number of times and am usually easy to please but every time is a big let down. We had a group of 10 people and i understand that ordering drinks for that many can be a chore, that is exactly how our female bartender made it seem. her exact words were " i've got all of people waiting, can you hurry it up". We looked down the bar and there was two people at the entire bar with full drinks, she still got a tip but i would not recommend this place to anybody. A little friendlyness can go a long way. I came in with 2 people around 10:30 PM last night (Sat) to bowl. I was told they were not taking any bowlers anymore - which was fine and understandable. However, I stepped away briefly and overheard a group of 5 asking to bowl. The man at the counter proceeded to ask them how many games they'd like to play and what size shoes they'd like. I was confused - as I was just told they were not taking anymore bowlers. I asked the man why I was turned away yet he was getting these guys ready to play. He told me he was "just messing with them" and that they couldn't play either. "Just messing with them"??? Sounds nice ... So I asked to speak with a manager - the man FINALLY called the manager Kevin over. Kevin was no help - I asked if it were true - where they no longer taking bowlers? Kevin kept saying "I don't know.. I don't know what's going on.. " like it was not his problem. I explained the situation to Kevin and he just looked at me blankly. The man behind the counter (who refused to give me his name) then LIED to his manager, saying I had come up to him "while he was with a customer" and that's why he said I could not bowl .. when in fact, he was on his phone when I originally approached him. Unfortunately, I could not get the man's name behind the counter as everyone refused to give it to me. He was around 25 years old, scruffy face, and at the time was wearing a beanie. Really hope management talks to him about this - seems like someone didn't feel like doing his job anymore that night. Either he was lying to me and turning me away (losing money for the business) or he was being rude to the other group and "just messing with them" aka getting their hopes up. Horrifying time at Landmark Lanes. I came here with a group of 5, and the man working the register refused to give us two lanes, even when most of the lanes were vacant. The man working the register was rude and put himself over the customer. I will never go back to landmark lanes do to the poor service. read more

Had a horrible experience bowling last night. Paid $15.00 for 3 games w/out bowling shoes because I brought my own. During our second game the lady at the counter approaches me while bowling and tells me to leave because I'm not wearing bowling shoes. My friends and I were baffled. I showed her my shoes and sure enough she was dead wrong! Other bowlers who were watching laughed at her; she was so embarrassed. So I'm assuming we could still bowl but they shut the lane down! She said we were disruptive even though it wasn't us (turns out it was another group that was disruptive). They call the police because we wouldn't leave because they still have my bowling ball!!! Finally they retrieve the ball and we ask for a refund for one game we never played. Nope. No refund. Police show up and of course we tell them what happened. They didn't care, they just wanted us to leave. Overpriced and horrible customer service. P.s. Lookout for some of the ball return walls. Some may be loose and duct taped. One time the ball came back, jumped the wall and almost hit us..yikes! read more

Family night out gone wrong! Once a month we like to take the kids out (ages 6,7, and 11) for something special. My wife saw a Groupon for landmark lanes and thought that would be a fun night, since we haven't bowled in years and have never taken the kids. Well that was a mistake! The evening started off with us having to wait 20 minutes even though we called ahead and they said there was no wait. When our lane was finally ready we went to get our shoes and find that they didn't have any that fit our youngest (told they were all rented out). The man selling the shoes appeared drunk, he was slurring his words so I just wanted to end the encounter and got her a size bigger. Things only got worse from there. The balls were very greasy, I had one almost slip out of my grip several times. The lane broke down constantly, at least 4 times (explains the wait). When I went to the bathroom there was a puddle of diarrhea on the floor, and almost made me vomit. If your looking for a nice night with the family avoid Landmark Lanes! read more
