What an airy and spacious showroom this is filled with bicycles and all the necessary (and some unnecessary) riding gear. Given the cold temps and snow we've had lately, we're a bit blue missing out on bike riding. Even though we don't need anything as we have bicycles and equipment galore at home, we stopped in here for a look. Bicycles like everything else have gotten very high tech these days and for the very serious rider or racer this place will likely have a lot of eye candy for you to peruse. There are a variety of price points including a super amazing bike coming in at just under $6,000. But there is truly something for most here at various price points including adorable tiny bikes for tots who are ready for their first two-wheelers. They had a bicycle tire pump that was very well designed and like nothing I've seen before. And there is plenty of bike-wear from which to choose if you feel the need to go all "Tour de France"' I love the smell of the rubber tires, the gleam of new frames and the general ambiance of a full-fledged bike shop. They do repairs right on site which is handy but I am a believer in learning how to do some basic repairs on your own. A flat tire can happen at any time and it's best to be prepared to do your own patching so you're not stranded. I appreciated that other than one male staff person, the other 3 we saw were women. I do love a woman who knows her way around bikes and bike repair. Although we didn't buy anything we were grateful for the attentive service we received and knowledgeable answers to our questions. While I love the winter, I long for some cleaner and clearer roads and ever so slightly warmer temperatures so that recreational bicycling is a possibility without as much discomfort. It was nice to visit this lovely well-appointed store and dream about flying down the road under pedal-power.

KRISPY KREME HEAVEN where these guys belong :)

After being contacted by the manager and actually going in and talking with some folks I've had a change of heart regarding this shop.

I started this year with absolutely no knowledge of cycling, other than the desire to get into it.

This shop was highly recommended as the place to go for a stuck seatpost. I e-mailed several weeks…read moreago to ask if they could do this repair, I received a reply that they could, and was given a link to book a service. I booked a service for Monday June 1, the soonest they had available. It didn't occur to me to look at their days/hours, because I had been sent a booking link, and those typically only allow booking when the business is open and has availability. On June 1 I took the afternoon off, biked over from Roxbury, and the place was closed. E-mailed and texted. Received a reply confirming they were closed and blaming the booking company. No real apology, no offer of a discount or anything to make it right, not even an offer to get me in as soon as possible. This is not anything like how I was taught to provide customer service when the business royally screws up and wastes someone's time. EDIT: The owner has now offered me 20% off, though is maintaining that they are confused as to why "the booking company" allowed that booking. The booking link still shows openings every day of the week. Why are you using software that requires contact with a company to make changes rather than the industry standard that lets you make changes to your own availability in your portal any time you want?

Ryan worked on the bike for a while, without charging extra. He even showed me how to apply oil to the gears and made suggestions for potential fixes to the brakes. Best customer service around!

" Nifty bike shop with a social change mission " If you…read moreneed a bike or a repair this is your place . Check out their site so you can read about them and their mission . The staff is ultra friendly. They have reasonable pricing. It's definitely the at to go . They have a big parking lot; so parking should not be an issue .

I don't know if I have just had exceptionally bad luck at my BnB visits or not but I have honestly…read morenever been super impressed. Sure, everyone is super friendly and their mission is A+ but for actually buying a bike here...it's a weird experience. I went in recently to get a bike for a kid (preferably used (and I specified this to the salesperson) and was immediately shown a $1200 new bike. After saying that it was too expensive, a (new) (and cheaper) bike was brought out to show the kid that was in a frame 2 sizes too small. We did a test ride, liked the bike, and then when going over more details of the bike, I noticed that the kid was already beyond the height range for the frame (XS frame). Fine. They bring out another size (M frame). We test ride that and it goes well but then a different employee says that THAT frame size was too small and to scale up to a L frame. I did not agree with this assessment. Inside the store, yet a third salesperson recommended we stay at the M, even with accounting for growth. We ended up buying the bike with an accessory that was to be installed upon purchase. We buy the bike, buy the accessory, they take the bike back to tune it up to leave the store. They take a long time to do that with a vague explanation about the rotors and the front brakes but that it was fixed. Awesome. We leave the store and are headed home but then I notice that the accessory wasn't installed. Back we go for another 10-15 minute wait and no real apology for not doing the work right in the first place. Years ago, I went to check out buying a bike (at the old location near Green St.) and the salesperson would only talk to me about single speed bikes even after specifying that I was only interested in a geared bike. Another time I went to pick up a pre-paid special ordered part and the floor salesperson didn't know how to find a special order in the store. I had seen this person on the floor before, so I knew it wasn't, like, their first day, week, or even month. I don't know. Everyone else seems to love this place and maybe I've just had continual bad luck here. 2 stars for everything about the store, the third star is for the mission and programming for kids.
