I really enjoy seafood. In fact, every time I see food, I eat it! Thank you. I'll be here all week. Seriously though, I do enjoy a good seafood restaurant. And I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place in El Paso, Texas. For starters, you sort of have to navigate your way around a second parking lot to get to it, but it is worth the adventure. Walking through the door. Door. They have a very nicely kept greeting station with a bar off to the left. So I made my way to the bar for a drink before dinner After my drink I went and got seated waited for the rest of my party. Looked over the menu and asked for suggestions. The chef's specials are always on point I was told so I opted for the blackened red snapper etouffee. Wow, what an amazing dish! And the presentation was off the hook. The spices were on point. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was just a very good dinner experience. Service was a little slow, I think that they weren't prepared for a party of 20 even though we had a reservation. Had it not been for the very slow service I probably would have given them five stars. But hey it's a improvement point. Bottom line? Has it been an hour traveling and stayed in El Paso for the night. We have been wanting to try Landry and this location was literally five minutes from our hotel. Restaurant was comfortably busy, clean and well staffed. Our server was excellent I'm sorry I cannot recall his name at this time, but he was amazing! I went out of my box and ordered a peach old-fashioned. It was delicious a few sips I did have (husband finished the rest). We ordered appetizer which was the alligator nuggets delicious! Not only does it allow you to walk away full, but you can get a decent tasting of their drink and food menus within more than enough time. Whether you're sitting near the bar or in the restaurant itself, during their happy hour you can take advantage. I really enjoy how you can time it to listen to live music. Entertainment and dining... count me in. I've been here twice and have enjoyed myself each time. The staff is always super friendly and you will definitely walk away a happy camper. The best part of this dining experience was our waiter Isaiah. He was so sweet, patient, and accommodating to a group of 6 chatty women. This was my first time at Landry's and I am a seafood lover. The decor is nice and the inside is spacious. I went out on a limb and ordered the roasted oysters as an appetizer. The oysters were the size of clams and covered in too much topping given how small they were. I ordered the broiled seafood platter. The shrimps were very small and very overcooked. The scallops were flat like pancakes and overcooked. It was disappointing considering the entree is $34. The sauce on the shrimp was good and the rice and broccoli paired well. Next we enjoyed a bountiful fresh salad with balsamic dressing. The sauce on the shrimp penne pasta was silky smooth and plentiful. The chocolate cake and ice cream sundae was the perfect way to end this extraordinary meal. The meal was exceptional but the service was even better. Mike's service displayed several skills that we don't find in other restaurants. His demeanor and conversation made us feel very comfortable and that we were going to be well taken care of. Update: We went back to give this restaurant another shot and were sadly disappointed the second time around. The food took over an hour to come out, and there was no one in the restaurant! Two of the plates came out cold. When we returned one of the fish plates because it was undercooked and cold, the waitress still added it to the bill even after she said that she would not charge that plate. . This restaurant has never been the same after Lorenzo retired. The food that comes out of the kitchen is cold and flavorless. The waitress didn't know if the salmon was wild or not. She didn't even tell us that the bourbon flavoring for the salmon wasn't available until the food came out. Our waitress didn't seem to care that we were waiting for over an hour. This restaurant keeps going down in Service every year. New management is needed. read more

'Twas the night before Easter Sunday and we were looking for a good seafood place when we saw this pop up near us so we set up a reservation. First, we noticed the lighting was really low, which is usually fine with me, but one of my party already has low vision, so it made it just a tad more difficult for them to see. The staff was nice and friendly. Our waitress, Mila, was on point with her service. We ordered the Fried Oysters and they came out shortly. While we waited for them, we put in our order for our entrees with salads and soups to pair. Our salads and soups arrived and we enjoyed them, as well as the garlic bread. Everything was fresh with great taste. We also asked for another 1/2 dozen oysters and that's when things got a bit off. The wait for the second app was so long, but even longer was the wait for the entrees. We had a pretty good size party, 5 of us, but it took over an hour for the main course to arrive. The food was tasty overall and the service from the waitress was stellar, but the food could have come a little faster. If it had, I would've given 5 stars. read more

This was not my first time at Landry's. Let me start with the reasons I keep going back. I love the atmosphere, it feels like I am in an Austin or San Antonio restaurant. The space is big, lots of light, the architecture is unique, giving me "feels" of Louisiana and Texas combined. The service is also always good. Decent table service with is so refreshing now a days. Now to what are not my favorite parts about Landrys. The prices of course, but that's why I only go 2 or 3 times a year- during the lunchtime service. Second, the food. I hate to say this but I realized on this visit that we never leave saying, "wow, that was so tasty or flavorful". We hardly remember the meals. ( I do remember the check total.) On this occasion we had the crawfish etouffee, the filet mignon, and fish tacos, followed by dessert. It was all okay. All in all, the positives will keep me returning to try new meals on my ongoing quest to find that great meal that I can write Yelp about. Did I mention the full bar as a positive? Our food was delicious. The freshest, cleanest, and finest oysters I've had in all of El Paso. The fish grilled and seasoned perfectly. Our waiter Isaiah was a rockstar of a waiter. Gave great service, good recommendations, and checked in on us for refills regularly. We tried the half-shell oysters, rockafeller oysters, maple bourbon salmon, and chilean seabass. The portions were prefect, not too big or too small but the right size with tons of flavor. We left happy and we'd recommend asking for Isaiah. My girlfriend and I decided to try Landry's, and overall it was a great experience. The ambiance was very nice it felt like we were dining at a restaurant off a pier. The drinks were good and kept flowing, and the service was excellent. Anthony, our waiter, was outstanding and very attentive. The only downside was the hostess, who came off a bit rude and didn't check or clean the booth before seating usthere was liquid left on it, which was unpleasant. For food, we started with the alligator bites served with thin fried onions, and they were delicious. The alligator wasn't chewy at all, which was a pleasant surprise. For my main course, I ordered the IPA fish and chips, and it was amazing perfectly fried, with fish so tender it fell apart effortlessly. My girlfriend ordered the coastal seafood pasta and rated it a 10/10, saying it was absolutely worth it. I couldn't have been more impressed on how great the food was. My marinated chicken breast and market salad were delicious. All fresh ingredients and marinated and cooked to perfection. Came to Landry's to enjoy an evening out. They were able to easily get us in a booth. Service was extremely friendly and timely. We started with fried calamari and half dozen raw oysters. Both were excellent. We also orders a sparkling lavender drink and a chipotle pineapple margarita. For our main course he ordered the red fish étouffée and I ordered the stuffed red fish. Both came out and looked amazing. After starting to eat, I realized my stuffed red fish wasn't cooked fully. The manager noticed me looking at it weirdly and came over to see what was wrong. He immediately took it back to the kitchen. I fully expected them to just finish the cook and bring me back the same plate. Instead they brought me an entirely new order. It tasted phenomenal. I greatly appreciated the lengths they went to to fix the issue and even offered a free dessert which was not necessary but appreciated. This review is based on our Mothers Day lunch and not normal operations. I have been to Landry's before and expected a great experience and good food. I have no axe to grind with this restaurant, but honestly, Mothers Day was disastrous. We decided to dine here on Mothers Day because Landry's takes reservations and we were told that they were never busy. We arrived at our reservation time to find the place mostly open and no one waiting up front. We were promptly seated near a nice window location. Our server was very nice, but apparently inexperienced and shaken. He took our drink order and disappeared for 10 minutes. Came back and said he'd bring bread, another 10 minutes. Took our appetizer order, and then another long wait. He finally showed back up and took our order about 40 minutes in. And then we waited and we waited. Out concern was cold food. As we sat there, a couple walked in and were seated by us. They were served and left before we were served. Our part was only six and our order was pretty simple. That didn't seem fair. As we waited, there was a server that kept shaking his head no ever time he passed us. He was clearly aggravated. It appeared as though the kitchen was gridlocked, sending the servers back to face angry customers. Our food finally came about an hour after arriving. Two of the orders were incorrect, with oysters in the shrimp plate. That's okay, were were hungry and accepted what was brought. And as we feared, the food was not hot. The shrimp and oysters were good, we really liked the onion strings, but the french fries almost tasted rancid. I couldn't eat those, but again, that's okay. The worst part was that my wife's shrimp order never came out. When we finally saw our waiter again, we just requested that he cancel the order. It was a depressing experience for my wife an her 95 year old mother on what was supposed to be a special day. At this point, we were just ready to go home. When the server came back, we asked for a to-go box and gave him our card. He returned having not run the card and had to leave and come back again. Clearly absent was a manager. In my experience, well run restaurants have a manager that jumps in to help the servers and visits with the guests. I do feel as though the issue on this day was one of poor management. I feel for the servers who were trapped between a poorly managed day, a backed up kitchen and angry customers. My guess is that they are not used to a full restaurant, but really I didn't think the place was that busy. They just weren't getting people out. All-in-all, we were there for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.The best part of the experience was finally being able to leave. I would try them again on a less busy day. The food would have been pretty good if it were hot. If I do, I hope for a much better experience. read more

It's a treat to go here. From the clam chowder, through to the desserts, it was well seasoned and perfect. The blackened Mahi sandwich was delicious and well proportioned. The Creme Brule and Bananas Ice Cream Crepe Foster was made with a candied crisp finish I have not had in a long time. Brought back fond memories. We have enjoyed this Landry's over the years, but not now. Part of the problem was the extremely loud jazz group in the corner, apparently to celebrate the 30th anniversary! The service was cordial but somewhat slow...and then the food. Extremely disappointing. The fish and chips was radically different, and almost impossible to eat. Portions were huge, but what we were looking for! We ended up taking part of our meal home, to put it in the compost bin! Not sure if we will be willing to try it again any time soon. read more
