We went here for Father's Day. We ordered off the menu...the nachos were good but my daughter & I both had the chicken frances (spelling on the menu) she had fries & I had mashed potatoes but the chicken was too overwhelming of lemon & my husband had the baked scrod. The service was mediocre at best & it wasn't even that busy. Our waitress wasn't very attentive & never asked my husband if he wanted another beer...she only came & checked if everything was ok once & the bus attendees were the ones that brought our bread & kept refilling our water. Our waitress also was a little condescending to the bus attendees when asking about where the trays were as well. It definitely wasn't worth the money that they charged. Another turn off was that we waited quite a while for our food & our appetizer came out & our dinners came out right on top of it. Positive about the place was the view which was an absolutely stunning view of the golf course. The banquet food here is outstanding though. I don't think we'd go to the restaurant again but maybe we'd try the bar next time. If we did go to the restaurant again I would ask for Jillian as my waitress because she's the best one there!

Music was a bit loud for our taste, but the outside patio was refreshing and had shade on a very sunny day. Love the variety on the menu; I got the bao buns which were tasty and a just-right portion for me. I don't remember what my dining companion got, but I remember he liked it. We loved our experience and would return for sure. We noticed that they kept trying to seat people at the first table on the patio in front of the doors that go from inside to outside, and everyone (including us) would ask to be sat at another table further away. Seems like that table needs to be moved further away or only set up when needed; no one wants to sit that close to the doors.

Water view, not bad. Birria Tacos? Very tasty, 3, big . Calamari: fresh and not overcooked with a generous garlic sauce. Something different. Hubby devoured the burger. Pineapple mocktail and local beer on draft, nice and cold. The only issue I had was with the trains arriving and stopping at the next door station. A little bit too loud for me. Everything else? Not bad at all.

Apparently this is an institution (at least based on the shirts and paraphernalia they sell with The Shack name on it). The food was pretty standard fare, nothing crazy or out of the ordinary here, maybe some fun names for their everything but the kitchen sink omelettes (The Shanty and The Mess come to mind). Bottom line is they know their way around deep fryers, and they know eggs. My only regret is ordering the banana cream pie - crust was okay, banana pieces were good, the top "cream" part was like an odd key lime consistency and sour flavor that I did not expect or cared for. P.S. They have a massive senior citizen following, but that shouldn't be a negative like other reviewers seem to have made it. They like what they like, and then seniors like The Shack!

Was seated in an end booth but had to wait a little extra time before someone asked about our drinks. A little after our server showed to take our order. I have always read the specials after we ordered. But today as we waited I was able to read all the specials. Saw that the French Toast sampler seemed like a good deal, compared to the 2 x 2 x 2 French Toast meal on the menu. The special gave you home fries, ham, bacon, and sausage in addition to the 2 eggs and French Toast. All for the same price as on the menu. Definitely made the right choice and certainly will pay more attention to the Specials board. Food was excellent as always, came quickly too.

We called our server over and explained we were far from happy with our meal. Actually, she was the only good part of the experience. I forget her name, I think it was Anise, but she was very friendly and chatty, mentioned she's moving to Hawaii w/her boyfriend this month. You would think a spot would be packed for Sunday brunch, but we walked in to a completely dead restaurant--just two couples sitting at the bar. We got seated, but it quickly became clear that the bartender (who I assume was also the manager) was the only person working the entire front of the house. The Service & Wait To say the service was slow is an understatement. It took so long just to put in an order that we were highly tempted to walk out. The only reason we stayed was because we had an hour to kill. While the bartender was genuinely friendly--and even nicely gave me the last of the batch he had mixed--the good attitude simply couldn't make up for the agonizingly long wait. The Drinks & Food The Mimosa: It was a premixed blend that was about 90% orange juice and 10% champagne. The Fries: The lone bright spot of the meal. They were nicely seasoned and easily the best part of the experience. The Side Caesar Salad: I really wanted to love the Caesar dressing because it actually tasted homemade. Sadly, it was so incredibly overloaded with salt that I'm genuinely shocked I'm not blind. After two strikes and two back-to-back fails, I'll sadly have to bow out from giving this place a third chance. There are too many other spots to choose from to waste time on slow service and unexecuted food.

As a result we were able to taste a number of their starters, a real winner was the crab rangoon tart there. For dinner we ordered tasting sizes of the pasta alla vodka and beef bolognese. I really like the thoughtfulness of having smaller plates be an option, for whatever reason you want it for. Also, they used campanelle pasta, rather than your standard noodles. Some real awareness of the right pasta pairing for the sauce evidenced for you. The only quibble there was the lack of seasoning in the sauce, but there was salt on the table to bring that up. The service is wicked friendly and attentive. The ambiance is certainly bohemian, with mismatched furniture and faux foliage hanging from the ceiling. The biggest ding is accessibility. One of the people at the event was in a motorized chair, and in order for them to move about or get to the restroom was a production. The tables and chairs are tightly packed, so I'd imagine someone on crutches or a walker would also have difficulty of movement. The menu changes as local ingredients come in or out of season. The current menu is available on their website. It is not large, so you know they're doing a few things and doing them right. I can recommend checking this place out.
