Eating at Langley's has become a Father's Day tradition. The Dad's play a round of golf then we all come together for lunch/dinner. The staff Is very friendly and they know my parents by name. We sat outside on the patio. While not the perfect weather we enjoyed sitting outside and the conversation. We look forward to our next visit. read more

My wife and I had our wedding reception 23 years ago at what used to be the New London Country Club, now the Great Neck Country Club. We hadn't been there since our wedding so we decided to take a drive down there to try the restaurant, Langley's, for our anniversary dinner. When we arrived around 5:45 we were the only ones in the restaurant. We thought it's a Monday and we're there at an early time, no problem. We started out with drinks and then decided on our meals. My wife decided on a side salad and the Blackened New York Strip topped with Gorgonzola Alfredo sauce minus the mushrooms at $38 and I chose the Pan Seared Scallops with tequila lime and wasabi mash potatoes at $31. When we got our meals it included zucchini and squash. Not our favorite vegetables but not a big deal. My scallops looked a dead white color with no signs of being seared and no type of seasoned except the tequila lime. They were a little sand crunchy and should have been rinsed more thoroughly. My wife actually heard the crunch when I was chewing! The wasabi mashed potatoes tasted like, well, plain mashed potatoes with potato skins mixed in. No taste of wasabi whatsoever. The zucchini and squash was ok. I am not one who complains about food that much or leaves reviews but after seeing the slab of mostly fat and gristle that my wife thought was steak (see photo) I had to comment. To be fair, she did say the Gorgonzola sauce was tasty. The rice pilaf was dry and chewy. Overall, we sadly have to say that these were two of the worst meals we have ever had. The price of each meal was way over the quality of the food. Absolutely disgusting. We left Langley's very disappointed and over $120 lighter in my wallet never to be considered again. read more

Went in on a Friday night and sat in the bar as it was pretty empty. The busser was attentive, cordial and overall, a delight. We ordered the stuffed avocado and caesar salad for apps, blackened scallops with double veggie dinner, prime rib and mashed potatoes. The server took our order and never came back until she brought the check. We didn't see her once after she dropped off the plates. I hate to say this as the food there has been pretty spot on, but tonight's meal was a complete disaster. The stuffed avocado had zero flavor. It was literally a can of corn, tomatoes and some lobster meat (not enough to find) thrown on avocado halves. The Caesar had no dressing; it was completely dry. The scallops were overcooked, drenched in so much blackened seasoning and so salty that I couldn't eat them. The sprinkled Gorgonzola made them even worse. Who puts Gorg on scallops anyway? The mashed potatoes, which we thought were plain, had so much uncooked garlic in them - literally, I was disgusted. The prime rib was a decent cut, cooked medium but the au jus, it was the worst. The bill was $140 for food and they can keep it with my poor review. I'm sad to hear that the previous owner has recently retired, but I will say this, he took pride in his meals. Went for a late lunch . The food was delicious had Cobb salad & a braised beef sandwich. The servers and bartender were all very sweet and accommodating. They treated us like family sat by a cozy fireplace and enjoyed the beautiful view and sipped some good cocktails read more

I have to say my husband and I were hugely disappointed in our visit to the restaurant recently. The food was in general ,to be quite frank, awful. My husband's scallops were undercooked and smelled extremely fishy and were clearly not fresh at all. My husband only at one or two of the scallops and decided not to eat any more and had a very upset stomach after we got home. I order crab cakes which were presented in a supposed chipotle aioli. They were gritty and was like eating a mouthful of fried breadcrumbs and were extremely soggy from sitting in the sauce and oily. We also ordered calamari which had minimal flavor, but the worst part was the vinegary hot banana peppers were so overpowering it completely over took the dish. My husband decided to take the calamari and crab cakes home as he thought we could "fix them" at home and he did not wish to complain. He seriously decided not to even try the food once at home as he was so sick from the scallops that we just threw it away. We had to go home and cook dinner after having an $80+ dinner none of which we were able to eat all. We have been to Langley's several times and have NEVER had an experience like this here. I typically do not complain and rarely write reviews or write to the management but this seriously warranted it. We will NOT be returning and we will be sure to let others know that Langley's has seriously declined in quality. read more

We had my husband's 40-year USCGA reunion in October. Our Saturday night dinner dance was held at Langley's and Brian, Bev and the entire crew did a phenomenal job. From meeting with Brian to discuss what we wanted, through execution, they exceeded our expectations. We opted for one of the wedding packages which hit all the bases - open bar, passed and stationary hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner (including several hot entrees, pasta bar, salads, dessert). The food was top notch and more than enough for our crowd of 150 people. Bev accommodated our last-minute request for a set up for a memorial tribute which was greatly appreciated. In addition to the ballroom, we had the entire outdoor patio with heaters, fireplace, seating, a second bar and dance floor from which our DJ set up. The accolades from the guests were a testament to the great service, venue and menu. We highly recommend Langley's for a wedding or special event. read more

Although I have nothing to compare Langley's to, as well as only dining in the restaurant once (for a bridal shower), I found the place to be spacious and clean. The staff was nice and accommodating and the food prepared for the big party was served piping hot and obviously fresh. Every time a tray was emptied by a guest, a server was quickly there with more / a replacement. I can not comment on normal food and fare served here, as everything was pre-ordered and served on platters. I did not see a regular menu to speak on price comparisons. What I did eat was great, however. The view overlooking the golf course was nice, as you really can't complain about being able to watch people hit little balls on an open grass. With a bar on the patio, I know the party I was with were enjoying themselves. If I ever get back up to the Waterford and New London area, maybe one of my golf friends will bring me back to try this place again. read more

We ordered off the menu...the nachos were good but my daughter & I both had the chicken frances (spelling on the menu) she had fries & I had mashed potatoes but the chicken was too overwhelming of lemon & my husband had the baked scrod. The service was mediocre at best & it wasn't even that busy. Our waitress wasn't very attentive & never asked my husband if he wanted another beer...she only came & checked if everything was ok once & the bus attendees were the ones that brought our bread & kept refilling our water. Our waitress also was a little condescending to the bus attendees when asking about where the trays were as well. It definitely wasn't worth the money that they charged. Another turn off was that we waited quite a while for our food & our appetizer came out & our dinners came out right on top of it. Positive about the place was the view which was an absolutely stunning view of the golf course. The banquet food here is outstanding though. I don't think we'd go to the restaurant again but maybe we'd try the bar next time. If we did go to the restaurant again I would ask for Jillian as my waitress because she's the best one there! read more

Been here quite a few times over the years..We used to come for the "well done" Wednesday Prime rib...It was great!! Had it 3 or 4 times and it was amazing..then Covid came and they no longer had the Wednesday Prime rib special...Been there2 times since again for the prime rib and it was not the same..Edible but not when they had it on Wednesday...They have it everyday on the menu and I would think it's hard to have great prime rib every day! Maybe they have to only serve it one day a week and get it right...I hope they read this.. read more

Consistently good food and modern atmosphere. The new menu's titles are a bit cheesy and don't match the quality of the food. The seafood is the best there and the appetizers are great as well. The luncheons and brunches there aren't quite as good as the regular restaurant food though. Overall the place has been consistently very quiet the times I went there so you'll definitely find a table. read more

I wouldn't give a 1-star review lightly, but this was a really bad meal. We had a big group with a reservation, but the restaurant was empty, and the meal took about 3 hours from start to finish. Service was unbelievably slow, even for a big group. Much of the food was cold or overcooked, and one person had to send their meal back. They weren't picky--they're meal was simply inedible. Because they had already waited so long for food, they didn't even order a replacement meal. My meal (the veal) was edible, but it wasn't good... it was covered in this overpowering sauce that tasted like it came from a can. Because we had kids with us we ordered desert, which took about 30 minutes to be delivered. The kids were falling asleep waiting for it. When they brought the desert, they announced that they didn't have 3 of the deserts because they had ran out... which happens, but you'd think they could have told us that when we ordered them, or at least a few minutes after. None of the deserts were fresh or made there; they're just frozen. I've seen the exact same deserts at different restaurants, and they tasted frozen. The waitress started out friendly enough but seemed irritated by the time the meal was finally over. The meal was so bad that my wife sent the management an email the day after. We just wanted the management to know about the problems so they could address it. They didn't write back, so it seems time I let consumers know about the issues. Note that we were a large group, and the kitchen might simply not be equipped for that, and the wait staff might not have experience with groups... which would explain why meals were both cold and overcooked; they probably wanted to bring the meals out all at once but couldn't cook everything at the same time. Nonetheless, they took our reservation and seated us. Just saying, you might have a better experience with a smaller group. I can only describe my own experience. read more

Love this place. Have been here for many family events. My sister in law got married here, and they hosted a luncheon after my grandfather in law's funeral. Have also been here for dinner. They have great happy hour specials. For special events the service and food are amazing. Great views overlooking the golf course. We will absolutely be back. read more

Sadly, the food tonight was decent, so it's too bad to write this review. However, the food wasn't great, yet the restaurant makes it seem like you're getting 4-star experience (you're NOT). The service was what I'd expect in a low class dive bar. The waitress didn't know what wine she'd served us (but the one with the STRAW in it was not the Norman). She "corrected" our pronunciation of bruschetta (which we said in correct Italian so why "fix" it?) She came to take our order on "Taco Tuesday"... Which doesn't sound like fine dining... and kept hacking-coughing, only to share with us that she had stolen a French fry off of a plate in the kitchen. The worst, however, was the pushing our bill on us, insisting we not order anymore because she worked a double today. As long as we closed out the bill, we could "stay as long as we wanted." 10 minutes later, the lights were turned on brightly as her replacement hinted we had to leave. You'd have thought it was midnight! For a country club with members, and local patrons who could support your establishment, I was embarrassed for you. We had my daughters Bridal Shower at Langleys yesterday afternoon. Jason was fantastic. He was so helpful in every way. The food was delicious. Humus platters are out of the world. The potatoes were amazing as well as everything served. All of our guests complimented Jason, food and the welcoming atmosphere at Langleys. We were here 7/11/14 and the overall quality of good wasn't good. I ordered a NY strip steak cooked medium. Came out over cooked. Sent it back came back medium without much flavor. I was expecting more for a $25 steak. The other thing that threw me off was that their "special" was a NY strip steak with sauté peppers and mushrooms with a baked potato, and veggies. Now the second food item on the main menu is a NY strip steak with sauté mushrooms and onions topped with Gorgonzola cheese. How can you have a main menu item as a "special" item? been to langley's for several weddings and other big events. they always have a large selection of food, delicious choices for drink specials and a very friendly staff. I recently had a wedding for my daughter at Langley's and I have to tell you I couldn't have asked for a better venue and a better staff helping throughout the entire event. Brian and Beverly and the rest of the Langley staff treated her like she was a princess which made me so happy to see. They made sure no one saw her before it was time and they accommodated everything to make her feel relaxed. The food I heard was extraordinary (mom didn't eat to busy) and the guests loved everything from the pasta station, meat carving station to the salad bar. I had a great experimence at Langley's Restaurant 2/28/2013,it was inexspensive ,food was so good I had pango chicken and I am not a spice person but i loved it,my son had the chick parm and said it was the best he ever had .as for the staff our waiter was Larry and he knew the menu well,his busser was a polite young gentleman name Michael an Ali very good workers and I had to mention the bussers cause I am a busser and they did well .I would recommend this restaurant to everybody cause I will return in the near future. read more

I recently attended a wedding at this venue. As we drove up we were enthused. A beautiful spot. However, our point of view was quickly dashed. First of all, let me say that the staff who worked behind the bars and served were lovely. We were treated horribly by the maître d (which I understand may be the owner!) He was rude, insulting and dismissive. It was as though he were doing us a favor instead of us being guests at his establishment. The food - well, "cocktail hour" (term used loosely) was cheese and crackers. And that it seemed came from Sams Club or Costco. The buffet was a disappointment to say the least! To add to the rudeness of the manager (or owner?), a little girl fell off the raised patio. It has no railing around it so it was quite easy and very frightening for a 5 year old to tumble off. She fell into the shrubbery and was being comforted by her mom and grandmother when the genius who runs the restaurant yelled from halfway across the patio that they were at fault as they were not keeping their daughter on the patio! No concern. No apology. Awful! We had a wonderful time because the DJ did a fine job and we were happy to celebrate the bride and groom. But I will never attend a function there again and will make sure that anyone who might ask knows how we were treated. Do your self and your guests a favor, look anywhere else! read more

We recently held a surprise anniversary dinner at Langley's at Great Neck Country Club. We cannot recommend Langley's enough for special events. First, our party was small - only thirteen guests - but we had private use of the restaurant patio and were attended to as if we were having a much larger event. The space was beautiful and worked perfectly. It overlooked the golf course, had ceiling fans, beautiful architectural details, and a well-designed roof that protects guests from the elements. On the night of our dinner, there was a severe storm with downpours and we were still very comfortable outside. The patio is adjacent to the banquet space's patio. There was a wedding going on and, at first, we were concerned about noise. However, we were not disturbed at all. We couldn't even hear the music being played inside the banquet room. This space also allowed guests, including two small children, to move around and mingle throughout the evening. Additionally, the Langley's staff was truly exceptional. Brian, the food and beverage director, was accommodating and clearly has extensive experience overseeing parties and banquets. He was available for any questions we had while planning the event. Our server, Michelle, was personable and attentive. She ensured that we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make our family comfortable. She even made time to chat and play with the children. By the end of the night, she felt like part of the family! We also interacted with several other staff members over the course of the night - Chef Dwight, Chef Sean, Marcus - who all made the experience really special. Several guests, including one of the guests of honor, had dietary restrictions. These included gluten-free and vegan. Langley's went above and beyond to ensure that these guests had many options when ordering, including testing out recipes for homemade pita chips that could be made gluten-free. In fact, all of the appetizers were gluten-free and all of the entrée options could be made gluten-free. We enjoyed the food and were appreciative of the work that went into putting together our menu. Brian and the staff also set up the space to highlight the special occasion - changing out the usual deck furniture for chivari chairs and tables with white linens and votives. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed, and our family continues to talk about what a wonderful job Langley's did to make the night memorable. read more
