After moving to the Mainland, I missed being able to have açai bowls on the regular, piled high with fresh fruit. After trying a few places in Cali, they just never seemed as good as the ones I frequently had in Hawaii. So you can imagine how excited I was to be back on island and staying with a friend who lives across the street from Lanikai Juice! I ordered a small Açai Original Bowl which has açai, apple juice, blueberries and strawberries blended together. I always prefer my açai bowls blended with soy or almond milk rather than sugary apple juice, so I asked for the substitution. The girl taking my order said they could only substitute it in a large bowl, not a small. I asked why, and was just given a flat "we can only put soy milk in a large size." Oookay...I don't get why they made this rule and it just seems ridiculous. I wasn't hungry enough for a large. Then she asked me if I want honey in my bowl, but that they charge $1 just to add a drizzle of it. Odd, every other place I've been to adds honey at no extra charge. So I settled for a small with no honey. Already feeling like Lanikai Juice has downgraded to the likes of commercialized, generic Jamba Juice, I was still hopeful that my açai bowl would at least taste the way I remembered and missed. Unfortunately I was disappointed there too. The consistency wasn't creamy the way good açai bowls should be. Instead it was icy and a little watery (probably the apple juice). Plus there were no berries or fruit piled on top except for slices of banana and some granola. I definitely will be getting my açai fix elsewhere when I'm back in town. read more

After finding out that they opened a second shop in town in the beginning of the year, i've been meaning to stop by to try their ever so "raved" about acai bowl. So, I finally got my chance when we were heading back from the gun range and was craving for acai bowls, in which i suggested this place. I've tried one of their smoothies before at the original location out in kailua and I really enjoyed it. So for this stop i got the original acai bowl for $5.85+tax. The cashier was helpful and seeing as though some of us were first timers, she suggested what were the most popular flavors; the kailua monkey, a banana peanut butter smoothie and the pacific passion. She was even nice enough to give us the medium cup when they asked for the small. The smoothies came out first and the peanut butter one was pretty good, the pb flavor wasnt too overpowering or sickening but i dont think i could drink a whole one by myself. The passion fruit one was ok, too tarty for my taste. The acai bowls were also eh-ok. I was really disappointed because I was expecting it to be WAY better. As some of the other reviews stated, it was a little bland. The also don't put honey on top; which it really could have used to give it some flavor. Overall i probably wouldnt get the acai bowl again but i do want to come back to try the amazon cherries bowl and to try out more smoothies, so for now its more like a 3.5. read more

This place is good. I get the Super Green smoothie and my daughter gets the Açai Extravaganza bowl. Only suggestion would be to get the consistency of recipes down between people preparing the smoothies. It makes a big difference who is making them. I'm so glad they opened a second location near town! From what i've heard, Lanikai Juice was one of the first establishments to introduce Acai to Hawaii (since 1997), so when it comes to their acai bowls they've developed a great reputation. At the Kahala location, one of the big differences to be aware of is who makes your bowls/smoothies. A lot of the employees are really nice and welcoming and will do their best to ensure that you leave satisfied with your order. However, one thing that I noticed while getting my weekly acai bowls is how its made; some employees make the texture a little to thin, some to thick. Other than that, I love it! They have one of the biggest varieties of smoothies and bowls out of any other juice bar, and they use fresh, organic ingredients; not to mention they also serve up a Mon-Fri 20% off bowls& smoothie special to save me more money throughout the week! :) read more

What happened to Lanikai Juice? They say they're "Fresh. Local. Hawaiian." but after watching their ingredients be delivered, I would say they're not ANY of this. Almost NONE of the ingredients are fresh or local; it is all bought at Costco. The pineapples are probably the only local thing. They use Treetop apple juice FROM CONCENTRATE, coconut milk, cream, soymilk that are processed and not even organic, bananas aren't even apple bananas but from ECUADOR (courtesy of Costco). So sick of businesses masquerading as Hawaiian when they hardly support local produce and farmers. AUWE. Let me give you a tip, you can look up smoothie recipes online, go to grocery store/farmer's market/aunty's backyard and pick out what you want, then put in a blender and blend. For shame on this company, for real. Nothing is fresh except the not-organic berries they put on the acai bowls. And the Ecuadorian bananas. A juice bar like this would be laughed out of town in LA or NYC... just saying. read more

Lanikai Juice has been at this location for a while now, but I have recently discovered the delicious and healthy smoothies available there. I've tried out both Ala Moana & this site. Kahala is very popular, and usually there's quite a crowd, but don't let this deter you. Service is quick, employees are friendly, and it's so nice & cool in the shop, you'll be happy to wait the few minutes it takes to get your order blended. I'm a big fan of smoothies, and while I do make my own at home, Lanikai Juice combines ingredients that I'd never imagine combining, and I'm sure they do it way better than I could--not to mention, why shop for all those ingredients for just lil' old me when they have it all there? Prices are quite competitive too--there are a lot of places to get a smoothie out there--and there much higher prices as well, but I think I get a good value for my money. This place is alright. I really like and want to support local businesses so we wanted to try this place since we were in the area. My husband ordered a very large 'Da Kine' smoothie. The taste was really good as it had guava and pineapple tastes in it. Maybe I don't get super excited as a smoothie is a smoothie and I have had Jamba which is just as good (of course not local thought). For some reason it took a little while. Lanikai Juice is the perfect stop on the way to or from the beach or hiking or for a healthy breakfast to start your day. Their acai bowls are good and I love that they put a lot of honey! (Even though honey is an extra charge). They also have really delicious smoothies that go way beyond your usual Jamba Juice. The prices here are reasonable, and they also have a rewards program. I actually didn't even know I was a part of it, but the lady asked me for my phone number to see if I was. To my surprise I was in their system and she told me the points never expire! That's definitely a plus for me because theirs nothing more frustrating than loosing rewards and points you've earned. The parking here can get a little tight because there aren't that many parking stalls, but this place usually has customers in and out since there isn't too much seating inside. read more

I recently was in the neighborhood of the Kahala Lanikai Juice. I was drawn to sample their smoothie from a large poster in the window stating they offer organic options. However, I was disappointed to find the organic bananas shown in the poster do not exist inside the store. I was told they cannot guarantee organic produce and they do not know if the produce is organic. I was interested in a smoothie that included coconut water or milk. There was one selection of the menu. If I changed any of the other selects: leaving out items and adding the coconut the cost was $.75 for two ounces. I chose the largest size smoothie with the extra coconut milk and without ice. Without ice the container was 3/4 full. The smoothie was tasty, but I'm not happy about what I term false advertising. I did bring this up to the staff that took my order. Her suggestion was to order something without bananas. If the false advertising is changed, a better rating may follow. read more

I just had an Extravaganza Acai Bowl and agree with the other reviewers....It was bland and icey. It did not have much flavor and the strawberries were sour. I had substituted the grated coconuts with walnuts. The walnuts were rancid! I called to let them know. The response from the girl was "okay, just scrape it off". When the manager Daniel came on the line, he was very apologetic and sincere. He told me they would throw out the rest of the bad walnuts and replace my Acai bowl with another on my next visit. Came in this morning around 8ish...walked in and wasn't really greeted, the guy and gal behind the counter saw us and had like a grumpy face, it I can excuse it as an it's too early morning. We are visiting from LA and I've previously had it from the last time. Acari extravaganza is delicious. Loved the crunchy granola and blended acai yogurt and fresh fruit topping. Perfect breakfast and day starter. Got a large, enough to share for a lite breakfast for two $9 for a large. Pretty good. Would of gotten 5 stars if the folks behind the counter were nicer and more helpful when I asked about the local favorite or recommendation. read more

Real colorful place, acai bowls are cheap, but really- not the best. I know they were the first place in Hawaii to sell Acai, but honestly their acai bowls to me taste pretty bland. AND you have to pay for honey. Try Jewel or Juice in Kaimuki, or Blue Hawaii Lifestyle in Ala Moana. read more

I enjoy the bowls at Lanikai Juice. Especially enjoying the Pitaya Bowl topped with wonderful tropical fruits. Always say yes when they ask you if you want honey! We had some groupon's for Lanikai Juice and Fridays are long days for my husband and me so we decided to come here for a light dinner. I had the hardest time decided what to get... I probably annoyed that guy but he was so patient with me. I stood and stared at the menu for a good ten minutes while he helped me find something... I ended up getting an Acai bowl and a Green Giant. My husband wanted to try the Green Giant so it ended up being his drink and I just ate the Acai bowl. My husband got the Acai bowl extravaganza... I don't know if it was worth extra for it but he loved it. The Acai bowl was delicious but not enough granola! I love lots of granola... although I think I prefer Jamba's Acai bowl. It's cool that they have a rewards card type thing... and you get a free smoothie/bowl on your birthday! Yay! The employees were all really nice and I was happy that the guy who helped me didn't look impatient or anything while I took years to order and everything. I like Lanikai Juice! I'm no acai bowl connoisseur, but I do like theirs. Lots of big fresh fruit, not too watery, generous granola. Their smoothies are good too. I've never had a problem with parking, and the servers are very friendly. The bowls can be a bit pricey, but you do get a lot! read more

pretty standard smoothie place i think. i like that it's a local company that uses organic / locally grown ingredients. they have less variety than jamba though :/ acai bowls are decent (i prefer diamond head health bars but lanikai juices are cheaper) but i don't like how they use styrofoam! :( esp since we were eating there; they could have used a reusable bowl. styrofoam is so bad for the environment! this location doesn't have too much room for sitting but ample parking and a nice location right near kahala mall. read more

Been here a few times and I do enjoy their stuff. But during my last visit I went in for a couple of acai bowls for breakfast for the family. When I ordered, it was fairly busy but with two employees, I thought they seemed capable. Boy was I wrong! After the three customers after me got their orders immediately, and I noticed 20 minutes past by, I realized they forgot about me. Ok..it's ok to be forgotten (it happens). But it's not ok to come at me like you don't even remember taking my order! On top off that the girl employee simply said "ok hold on.." And continued what she was doing which was restocking items in the back. I'm sorry but if my business and well-being as a customer is not important to you then you can give me a refund. That is what ended up happening. I got my refund and with a long line in back of me, the guy employee simply said "Sorry, we're really busy.." Right. read more

When did it start costing $12 for a snack? Needless to say, we still return when in the area and love that they are local. There is only ONE problem with going to Lanikai, once you experience the outstanding consistency in quality, you will have a very hard time going elsewhere. Pretty frustrating experience for most of the times I go. It's too bad I like the product better then Jamba Juice because I would happily take my money there but I also care what I put in my body and don't want all the sherbet and ice cream they use at Jamba. It's the employees that ruin it for me at Lanikai. Their website is down and I wanted to communicate this with the owners instead of taking to yelp but they only have a Facebook page and I choose not to participate in that social media outlet. Anyway, I order the same thing every time and almost EVERY time it is wrong. Today was not an exception so I finally had to write something somewhere. So my review is that the product is good but the employees (2 women specifically ALWAYS get it wrong) do not know what they are doing and it definitely ruins my experiences there. (If the owners or management want to contact me for more details they can reach me through this site.) Sorry had to write a review on yelp for such bad service but the product is pretty good for those of you that want a basic smoothie option or smoothie bowl that is healthier and has local product but don't order anything specific like add honey.....seriously how can you mess up add honey for $0.75. On a side note, I have been in the food and beverage industry for 16 years so in my opinion, it isn't necessarily the product that keeps the customers but the service and someone else might have the same experience and then that customer is lost forever. read more

What's not to love about Lanikai? Everything is fresh and made to order and love the fact that they give you a free add-in with any purchase. I mainly hit up Lanikai after a run for a Kailua Monkey for my post-run protein fix. Whey protein, yogurt, chocolate and organic peanut butter; what's not to love?? This is one of those places where you feel like you just did something good for your body if you tried anything on their menu. To make it as healthy as possible I selected something that sounded gross to me and ended up selecting some juice made from beets and ginger.
