Can't believe I haven't came to this place since our office moved to the panam building last year. My coworker and I just decided to come here last Friday and I'm so glad we did! It's a vegan restaurant and I'm not Vegas but who doesn't love alternative recipes to their favorite foods?! I decided to get the BLT sandwich because although I'm not a fan of tomatoes, I wanted a classic sandwich not realizing the bacon was toasted coconut!!! How cool! I got a little sick eating it... you know that feeling when you eat too much cheesecake and feel sick cuz it's too much? Yeah that feeling. So I gave up eating the coconut and decided to just eat the bread and overall this sandwich is 10/10 chefs kiss* When we ordered drinks, I took the last pressed juice available for the day. I wanted to get the Energizer but next time we'll come earlier. My coworker tried the sunrise smoothie and she said it tasted really healthy. I felt so healthy after eating my food. Next time I want a coffee I'll come by here to try it along with their juices they have. They do close early at 3 pm so it's better to come early while they have some stock in their fridge. I walked into the cafe not knowing it's a vegan one. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against vegan food I just don't like it. We ordered the GF waffles. I make at home GF waffles and I was expecting something amazing. Honestly I was disappointed big time. I was hungry so I ate it out of hunger as the topping makes it taste better. My daughter ordered the avocado toast and she couldn't finish the second slice as it's not good at all. The smoothies were good according to both of my daughters. My tea was good as well as I took the lemon grass with mint. They did mess up one of the smoothies but they fixed it. The workers are super sweet and nice and very very calm. Macnut pesto great flavor and enjoyed the calamansi squeeze. That was different but cut the richness. It worked well. Lox Bagel surprised me. Carrots instead of Salmon. It was tender and soft. Everything, and I mean everything about this wonderful restaurant is wonderful. We felt fortunate that we found this place during a recent stay on Oahu. Olena Cafe is the single best place to have breakfast & lunch anywhere in Honolulu. It just is. Their food is outstanding, all plant-based and filled with love. You just can't find another restaurant like this anywhere on the island. It was about a 20 minute walk from our hotel, one we made every day to dine here for breakfast. Most days we'd order a couple of salads to have later for lunch. We tried as many things on the menu as we could in a relatively short period of time and everything we tried was fantastic. This place does not disappoint. It would have been worth a 2 hour hike to get here, yes, it's that good. The restaurant has ample seating, very clean and tidy. Great outdoor seating as well. We walked here everyday but noticed there was easy parking nearby. Service here is something else to be noted, they're delightfully friendly and helpful with suggestions or food allergy questions. It was just such a wonderful experience each time we visited. It felt very much like home restaurant, one you've been going to for years. The kindness and quality of their food really spoke to my wife and I and we're really grateful for our experiences here. We plan on returning to Honolulu again soon and Olena will be the first stop from the airport. Love, love this place. Whether you're near or far from their location, give them a try. This little gem of a salad and juice shop is located around the corner from the Convention Center, with a tiny bit of a walk. Such a cute space! I came to grab a reusable bag and love the vibes of this lil coffee shop. They have lots of drink and food options available. I also grabbed an espresso over ice (they were out of cold brew) but the staff was super perky and nice. I was able to park under the Ala Moana Tower nearby. Olena is definitely on my list to check out as a future lunch & work space! I don't get out much anymore but I'm happy I get to support small local businesses when I do. read more

Whenever I visit a place, I prioritize those with toilet facilities available, so Olena Cafe was disappointing to find out they didn't have any. Additionally, the drinks were pre-packaged in bottles rather than made fresh on-site. Although there were seven options available, none offered a good balance of fruits and greens. I ended up purchasing the two drinks shown in the photo. I was further disappointed when I had to pay more because they didn't have the smaller size advertised. The quintessential health cafe. This place exudes healthy eating with a side order of serenity. We've been coming here about once/week for a quick healthy bite. My go to detox drink is the Energizer (kale, cucumber, chard, parsley, lemon). Like a wilted plant on a hot day, this drink makes my leaves unfurl and reach for the sun. The Tofu Salad with a sesame tamari ginger dressing is a generous portion of local greens, cucumber, carrots, daikon and organic tofu. This salad will keep you going until dinner without that after lunch food coma. On those days, when feeling dangerous, I reach for the ŌLENA WAFFLE (house-made waffle topped with local strawberries, banana, blueberries , 'ōlena granola and coconut whip, with side organic maple syrup (Gluten-Free) and chase it down with the Oli Oli Smoothie (strawberry, banana, date). Yeah it may trigger a slight insulin rush but it's what happens when you choose to live life on the vegan edge. They have a couple of tables outside for your COVID free enjoyment. I was introduced to this cafe by a friend and have added this to my regular spots. Parking is located in the old jazz minds lot. You can see a sign while driving on Kapiolani Blvd. I love their pressed juices! I am always looking for a healthy pick me up, and find their juices to be refreshing and good for you. I usually get the glow juice which is a mix of greens, ginger, fruit and olena (tumeric). I've also tried the vitamin sea which is great if you like minty drinks and the keep cool which tastes like fresh watermelon juice! They usually have a bunch already pre made, but they can make a flavor for you if it's not already in their fridge. Plus, if you bring your bottle back, you can get 25 cents off your next juice purchase! Love the sustainability of it. I've also tried the olena sunrise smoothie and the olena bowl. It does take a while to make, so phone order may be faster. However, you can tell how well made and thoughtful everything is! The real winner is the olena bowl which I had on my last visit. I've been a huge tumeric fan ever since the pandemic for its healing properties. I've never seen an olena bowl before and was absolutely blown away. The bowl was packed with fruits on top - bananas, papayas, strawberries, blueberries. The base of the bowl is a blended tumeric juice with fruits and is sooooo good. I never would have guessed, but the combo is just to die for. I'm craving it just writing about it! It's a unique type of smoothie bowl and I will def be back for more! If you're here to work... apparently there's no public restroom and the WiFi password is on a post-it behind the register. Pros: -Great for a quick work session over coffee or a smoothie. -The food is really good! I'd say $9.25 for 1 slice of Avocado Toast, cut in half, is a little pricey... but still it was delicious! The other menu items are reasonable... like $8 for a smoothie but a BLT is $9.75 and looks way more hearty than my avocado toast. -Totally digging the playlist. If I could I would give this place zero stars because I came here after a workout for a smoothie in the morning and they took like 25-30 to not only NOT make my smoothie but forget about my order completely. They were barely apologetic and didn't even offer to make me a free smoothie. All vegan! Did a takeout order for a BLT and a goya (bitter melon) cold pressed juice; I actually came in because I heard they had a special goya juice during Okinawa Feastival. Anyway, staff was friendly enough and my order was made fairly quickly. The blt was decent, though the coconut bacon is distinctly coconutty (which is fine, but the sweetness might not be for everyone). I loved the goya juice and saved half to take home for my husband who also really liked it. Overall the price is a bit high, but on par with other health food/juice shops in downtown. Looking forward to my next visit! Olena cafe is a healthy vegan cafe on Kapiolani. There isn't much parking, so parking at Ala Moana mall and walking over is probably ideal. There are only three tables (for the whole building -- only one had an umbrella). There were also a few tables inside, but it's a pretty small shop. I ordered the Olena bowl (olena is turmeric!), and my friends ordered the sunrise smoothie and the Olena waffle. Everyone loved their food! I was a bit anxious about having a turmeric-based bowl, but it was super tasty and was slightly sweet. The bowl is fairly big -- the size of Banan's bowl and slightly bigger than Jamba Juice's. Their granola is also super tasty!! Regarding the waffle, my friends said they could tell it was vegan, but it was super delicious! For both items, toppings were abundant, so I think the price points are reasonable! Not sure if it's because we all ate kind of slow, but my friends and I all felt quite full after our breakfast (I felt like I just ate an English breakfast!). I recommend Olena Cafe! For the above, spent an hour waiting and waiting and waiting... with only 3 tables in the entire place with customers. I haven't had so much luck with the food as it happened twice that it wasn't heated properly and therefore still cold in the middle. I also got an açaí bowl to go which was surprisingly small for the price. The wait times are quite long too. I also didn't feel very welcome and the staff seemed unenthusiastic every time. What to expect: The food is healthy so your taste buds might be in for a surprise if you're not used to the vegan vegetarian lifestyle. It's good. Their Mac nut pesto avocado toast was a winner. Highly recommend the avocado toast! Great flavor and presentation. They have 2 kinds of avocado toast. I went for the Olena avocado toast with basil microgreens, and loved it. In addition to a lovely sweet sauce, they top it with there is a curry-like powder that enhanced the other flavors so well. While the avocado looked skimpy, but it ended up so filling that I stayed full until past lunchtime. Also had an iced matcha latte with organic oat milk, it is so refreshing and cute served in a mason jar. I'm not vegan but I like to eat healthy and this was a great find. I had never heard of Olena Cafe before but I was looking for a vegan place, and it had great reviews. Honestly, it deserves even better reviews than what it has. The only downside is that parking is limited with mostly paid street parking nearby. To save money, arrive a little early and park in the A la Moana parking garage and walk a couple blocks. Inside the cafe, the service was quick and very friendly. Small note: if you prefer everyone receive their meal at the same time, you should specify so. The cafe rightfully has a casual vibe, but just something to note if this is important to you. I ordered the hummus wrap, and omgeezles it was amazing. As someone who didn't like vegetables growing up, I would have saved myself a lot of time training myself to like vegetables if I had only had this delicious wrap sooner! Even the sweet, tangy, yellow sauce on the side was delicious. My friends got iced coffees and toast. Food is pretty good but if you like your food HOT right off the stove this spot is more for the cold breakfast foods like wraps and things. This is a new cafe which just opened. It may sound familiar because there are two other businesses w/ Olena as part of their business name but all are different! This meaning of Olena is turmeric. This new healthy cafe has Olena bowls made with the juice of turmeric! I was waiting for this place to open and finally today (Wednesday) I was able to visit after walking a block from the nearest metered stall. I wished I've checked on their Instagram that they now secured 5 parking stalls next lot over at the former Jazz Minds Honolulu until the start of construction to make way for the future condo. They also have 2 stalls near the back by Akasaka Restaurant. Parking signs are almost ready! Do not park in the building's parking. Later when the Manaolana Place, Mandarin Oriental hotel is completed on Kapiolani Blvd and Atkinson Drive, parking will be available there since construction will start next door. It's a clean, simple but relaxing place away from the busyness of Ala Moana center! They serve healthy cold pressed juices, smoothies, coffee, latte,sandwich, wrapped, toasts, Acai & Olena bowls and more. I would definitely come back for the Olena bowl and the plantation ice tea!! So different yet delicious! Turmeric (Olena) supposedly helps with inflammation! The Olena bowl base's ingredients listed on the menu varied a little from what was mentioned. Anyways, Pineapple does go well with the Turmeric juice. Supposedly apple juice, Oat milk, mango, pineapple, turmeric juice & I believed it's also with banana too. The season fruits on top with Olena's granola took it to another level, refreshing!! Perhaps in a near future I was told they may sell a package set of the different cold pressed juices! I had a quick conversation with one of their relatives who stopped by to congratulate them and found out Jennifer ( I think), owner w/ mother, used to run the Up Town Cafe in Chinatown serving Okinawan food for about 20 years! The macadamia nut added a richness, and with the fresh avocado toast, the toppings pretty much melted my mouth while enjoying the contrast of the toasted sourdough. The tiny touches, like the edible, red flower makes it feel like you were served a tiny dish of art. Later in my studies, I ordered a Hibiscus Tea. Very refreshing, and nicely floral. The interior with floor to ceiling windows, and crisp white interior with bright color pops makes the limited space feel airy and open. There are a few tables outdoors as well. PLANTS!! Plants everywhere!! This made me super happy. There were even tiny plants propagating in the window sills. With the people positive, and planet positive messages posted throughout, you feel the uplift in the energy there. This added to the flow of my productivity for sure. This is a cute cafe with free parking nearby. And clean vegan food. My favorite are the gluten-free waffles. I was pretty pleased to find this little place. However, the service was so sorely lacking on my last visit that it soured any desire to come again. The waffles generally take a long time, I'd say over 20 minutes. So I called ahead of time and they told me they were out of batter and were going to make more batter but that it would take 20 to 30 minutes just to make the batter. They weren't friendly on the phone and sounded blase at best and utterly disinterested at worst as to whether I show up or not. When I arrived there, no one was at the counter. So my family looked over the menu a few times, and waited, and waited, and waited. It was a few minutes before anyone came out. The lady who did come out looked like she had just woken up, she didn't even glance at us or say hello or give a smile or any kind of greeting. She walked in, and while scratching her stomach underneath her shirt with one hand (which is a little gross when you're in the food industry), with her other hand, she went straight to the computer and asked us what we wanted to order, disinterested in us and without once looking up at us. We were partially done with our order when she rang us up and we told her we were still ordering drinks, so she acted a little put out and did whatever she had to do on the computer so that we could finish our order. I asked her questions about the different drinks and she mumbled. So even when I said what and asked her to repeat, I had no idea what she was saying. Our food came in to go containers even though she had asked and we had told her we were eating in, and we were sitting right at a table. So we asked for regular plates and for some water. Everything took forever and there was no friendliness. We also ordered a sandwich that came on burnt bread and when we lifted the bread the inside was burnt even more than the outside. We pointed it out to the lady in the front of house and she just shrugged her shoulders. So when the lady who was in the kitchen came out we showed her and she simply said I'm sorry. This is not a busy place, I only see one or two other customers each time I go, maybe this is why there's not that many people here. It's too bad because the place is cute and the menu is good. I think with good service, this place would be hopping. Disappointed that this can no longer be my go-to waffle place. read more
