Want to go to an English/Irish style pub enviroment with an ok European beer selection... Give it a try. I recommend the sheppards pie and a Guiness or New Castle. This is a very good Irish pub. It has the usual suspect set of Irish drinks and the ground floor has the "Irish look". But regardless of the Irish aspect, this is just generally a good pub, with a nice patio on the top floor (great view of the mountains) and plenty of outdoor seating on the ground floor too. The inside is pretty nice too and has a very cosy atmosphere. This place is one of the best options in the area to spend some time on a nice day. Food is good although needs to pick up just a small notch to get to the next level. Deserts are excellent though, especially the funnel cake sticks with caramel sauce. read more

I have been going here off and on for years. Several years ago I would go for karaoke night, not because I was a singer but because others I met there did like to sing. Then I started meeting a different friend there just to hang out and enjoy the people there...other customers and servers. Lots of fun! They have an awesome fish and chips which has been perfect to get during lent. I would look forward to Friday's! I haven't been there recently but I look forward to going back soon...especially when it gets a bit warmer out...they used to get live bands who played on their second floor. Lansdowne has provided a nice place to go over the years, which Highlands Ranch so needs more fun places like this one! read more

Went here for dinner with friends the other night, and I must say, I really liked the place. It wasn't my first visit, but it's definitely been too long. We ate in the bar, which was full but not crowded. The bartender that helped us was incredibly nice and helpful. When we asked for his food suggestions he raved about the food, saying that everything was great but the Chicken Curry was his favorite. When none of us ordered the Curry, he was sure to bring a plate by to show us what we were missing. I'll admit, it looked and smelled delicious! Now I cannot wait to go back and give it a try. I had the Dubliner Shaved Steak & White Cheddar sandwich with sweet potato fries, and it was delicious. The fries were super crispy - yum! The sandwich was served on grilled sourdough which made it a little bit greasy, but it was so tasty. Our friends shared he Bangers and Mash which they said was also really great. Apparently the mashed potatoes were to die for. I won't be a stranger to this place. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food is a place that deserves some repeat business. read more

We had six in our party early on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately in a comfortable room with a comfortable table and chairs for the six of us with plenty of elbow room. The service was quick and efficient. Prices were comparable to establishments of similar size and variety nearby. The menu is I assume fixed. The number of choices on the menu is good. My personal experience with the Bison Meatloaf was disappointing. Although my food arrived hot, there was a piece of non ground meat in the middle of the meatloaf. Others at the table appeared pleased with their selections. I would recommend this restaurant but in my next visit I would stick to more American style Hamburger and fries. Although I didn't enjoy my meal, the experience and service compensated adequately to earn it 3 of 5 stars. read more

I don't write reviews often but I felt compelled to write about Lansdowne Arms. We went there tonight to celebrate my mother-in-law's b-day. First time there for everyone. First, the reservation time was set for 5:30 but they had it down as 6:00. Thankfully this got rectified without too much hassle. Our server was very nice but not fully knowledgeable about the menu. Perhaps he was new. But very nice. The ambiance was Irish pub with a decent number of TV screens with sports. Relatively loud. Pretty good crowd there for a Saturday night but not overwhelming. The food was disappointing. I had Shepherds Pie, my wife had Bangers & Mash and my father-in-law had Corned Beef & Cabbage. Irish pub = eat Irish food. Unfortunately we were all underwhelmed. Not a good sign for something that should be a specialty. Food lacked flavor, excitement, something that made you say - YES, this is Irish food and this is what I was craving when I saw this on the menu. Nothing like that at all. Just had lunch out on their downstairs patio area. Love the choice of table or cushioned patio chairs/chaise lounge seating. Service was speedy and the waitress pleasant. I had the prime rib sandwich with side salad. The meat was thinly sliced, very fresh tasting and paired well with the chopped portabello mushrooms and grilled onions served on top. Side salad had croutons and slivered almonds on top. Balsamic vinaigrette was subtle flavor & tasty too. My husband had the chicken tenders & fries. I'm a potato purist - not a fan of the battered fries, but to each his own. My husband killed them. The chicken tenders were a little on the skinnier side than I'm used to seeing but was nicely seasoned in a beer batter if I'm not mistaken - really good even without dip. The coleslaw had white raisins in it, never seen slaw with raisins in them before but my Memphis boy husband said it was ok. I was eyeballing the upstairs patio area, not sure if they make that available during lunch hour but if they do, we will have to come back soon. The desserts being served at the table next to us definitely were a teaser and confirmation we'd have to come back for a second look at this place & the rest of their menu! We've been there a number of times in the past, always had a good time. Stopped by for lunch yesterday, and we ordered drinks. I ordered a black and tan, and the waitress brought me something that was not a Guinness and pale ale. My wife ordered a Midori Daiquiri, and was brought what was listed on the bill as a key lime martini. We have no complaints! The service was fast and very efficient. We ordered fish and chips and French Dip. The restaurant was not crowded on sunny Saturday afternoon. We loved everything we ordered! I thought the fish and chips were very good. Not greasy at all. The garlic mashed potatoes were devoured. The fries almost got devoured but the portion was pretty big. The French Dip now has us on French Dip kick. The au jus was hot and so tasty. The fries got dipped in as did the garlic mashed potatoes. Would definitely go again. Headline: Go for Irish, not American fare here. The Lansdowne Arms is your typical American take on an Irish pub. Harp and Guiness on tap, soccer on the TVs, corn beef and cabbage on the menu. It's closer to what you would see in Ireland than normal, but still an over-sized version of the typical Irish pub. They do have a separate room as an additional dining room. From what I can tell, it's for families - if you like loud kids and no music, then that's your room. If not, ask to be sat right next to the bar area. My wife got the Prime Rib Boxty. A Boxty is a pancake made out of potatoes, generally rolled with a savory mix the same way you would a quesadilla or crepe. The Lansdowne Arms version has shaved prime rib (which was more shredded than shaved), caramelized onions and mushrooms, served with a drizzle of horseradish cream - ask for a side of this as you are going to need it. The boxty was not seasoned and bland, but the filling was nice. However, whoever thought serving mashed potatoes with a boxty should be shot. Also, this dish was huge - easily enough for four meals. I wen American (mistake) and got blackened fish tacos, which come on flour tortillas three to an order with a side of rabbit fodder (would it kill you to add a light dressing?) This was a disappointment. The fish was overcooked and dry, and the sauces (two of them) were poured across all three, so that no one taco got enough of the sauce. With the dry fish, that sauce was needed. Moral of this story is - go to an Irish place, then eat Irish. Overall - average. If it were closer, I would give it another try, but I probably won't be driving this distance again for what we got. read more

Food was decent, service is just crazy slow and forgetful. After we got sat, we waited about 10 minutes before we were finally greeted. I ordered soup to start, which our server forgot till I asked for it once the entrees dropped. He didn't acknowledge he forgot or apologized? I'm a server myself, so normally I have no issue when stuff like that happens because I get things go on behind the scenes that costumes aren't aware of, but when he didn't seem to care or apologize then I kind of lose it. Like other Yelp reviews had mentioned, things requested upon, seemed to be a chore for the servers there and lack of personality. Overall just very very slow service, foods decently good. Haven't been to this place after experiencing poor service 2 years ago. Met friends there last night, party of 5 & we sat on the patio. Server was horrible! Waited long periods of time for drinks. Wine was delivered in a filthy grimy glass. Looked like it was from a table being cleaned off. The place was almost empty so it's not like it was overflowing with customers. The 5 of us were disgusted, and I was disappointed once again with this place. We won't be back EVER! 1 star is generous. Don't go there unless you want a horrible service & bad food. read more

I can't say enough about the lack of attention that we received at Lansdowne Arms from the staff. I personally was offended and was upset that our waitress' service even justified a tip. We first waited after we sat down for a drink order, long enough that we had decided on what we wanted to eat for the evening. The food was sub par, however I did not sit down and write a review because I have any objective opinion about the food. When we finished our food and our one drink that we were offered during our initial contact, we asked for our check. After waiting fifteen minutes for our waitress to return, my blood began to boil. After the encounter, or lack there of, I looked for the manager. An individual that I had seen walking around, chatting it up with the staff, he was not however, taking care of the very customers that were sitting patiently. I neglected to see him, so I left without explaining why I had only left 15% for our service tip. This is something that I prefer to do when I receive bad service, so that the manager can take the information back to the server. I however do not feel like any information that was given would have been used to improve any customer service at Lansdowne Arms. I will not be returning to Lansdowne Arms for food ever again, now if friends want to meet there for drinks, I will gladly attend. I don't think they can mess that up. Had dinner here the night before St. Patrick's Day and we were all pleasantly surprised. Our server, Cheryl, was wonderful and very attentive. We had the brie appetizer which was fabulous. We had this short manager , I think his name is Jeff, he sat us and this guy was terrible. Ownership if you want to save your business you should really evaluate this employee. I had our company get together there and our group of 15 were in tear laughing at how rude and ridicules he was. This place has so much potential, but the service is poor at best, and the food is marginal. We've been here a few times because we liked the location and the atmosphere. We also hoped that our experience would improve because it was just an isolated incident. In the 6 or 7 times we've been there, we has one wait person who was pretty good. Every other time, it was awful. The food was not great but it wasn't horrible either -- just not worth torturing us with horrible service. We had the prime rib sandwich, but the meat was chewy and grisly. The fish and chips were overly breaded and the fish was overcooked. We had a salad, and the meat in the salad tasted funny. Burgers are probably OK, but we never had one. I will add that I did reach out to the management following our last visit, and there was no acknowledgment from them at all. We came here the day we applied for our new apartment to celebrate with a beer. We came back for lunch just after our one month anniversary as husband and wife. Unsportsmanlike conduct! Our large meet up group of 60-100 people were promised a warm welcome on the upper deck. Not long after the first batch of our group arrived, however, the upstairs manager then proceeded to try to chase our members away, saying they were only drinking water, which was patently not true because people had already ordered drinks and meals--and the night was young and many more members were on their way A large contingent of our group left and went next-door to another establishment. Needless to say, I don't think our group will patronize Lansdown Arms again. Just takes one bad manager to ruin the experience for a lot of diners. Came in on a Sunday About 12 am. We waited to be seated behind a party of 12 that wanted to sit in the back room. The waitress at front brought them back and then escorted us to our table outside right next to the bar. She didnt even introduce herself just sat down menus and walked away. When she came back with waters about 7 mins later. She just looked at us as if we were wasting her time still looking at the menu. We asked her for the drink menu and she set that down on the table and walked away. (Still didnt introduce herself). We waited about 15 mins for her to come back so we could order beers.. and nothing.... we couldn't even see our waitress anywhere. There was probably a total of 3 tables in the whole restaurant. I guess she decided that the table of 12 was far more important than ours... after 20 mins of waiting to order drinks our party got up and started walking out. I went up to the bar to let the bartender know we were leaving due to the awful service and all he has to say was "ok bye"..... really? No offer to take our table himself or even an appology. My wife, daughter and I went to the Lansdowne Arms Bistro and Pub on 07-25-2010 at 12:15 in the afternoon after attending the farmers market in the parking lot. The weather was beautiful and we thought this restaurant could quench our thirst; instead it left a bad taste in our mouth. There were very few customers in the restaurant, and after wandering around for a few minutes we made our way upstairs to the patio. We were never greeted by an employee, so we approached the bar and asked for two Blue Moon's and a lemonade. The bartender, who was obviously engaged in a more important conversation with one of the waitresses stated, "Sit down, we HAVE waitresses here!" We apologized and made our way to a table out in the sun. Let me back up a minute, my wife and I are 40 something professionals with a high school junior in tow. As most people do these days, we eat out very often, and we have never complained on a restaurant before in our lives. This one struck us so deeply we had to pass it along. There was only one other customer on the rooftop patio, and after 5 or so the waitress, Michaela, approached and slid three menu's hard enough across the table two of them landed on the ground. My daughter picked them up and we explained that we were only there for something cool to drink. Apparently this offended Michaela; she grabbed the menus, and walked away, without asking for our drink order. Another five minutes later Michaela returned and took our order. The bar is less then 15 feet away from the table, and somehow it took another 10 minutes for the bartender to pour and the waitress to deliver three drinks. When they did, my wife asked for a napkin, and with a sigh of disgust, Michaela retreated to the bar and brought back just "one" napkin. My family and I were all wearing nice dress shorts and collared shirts, and I had slid my chair sideways to capture a view of the mountains. With my right leg crossed over my left leg, one inch of my knee was touching the edge of the table. The next encounter was with what appeared to be a manager who walked up between my daughter and I who were talking and while looking down her nose at us stated, "Get your leg off of the table, it is a health code violation!" I immediately remove my leg and apologized, but it fell on deaf ears because with a short nasty look over her shoulder, the manager had fled the area. My family and I finished out drinks and paid the tab. As we were walking towards the stairway, three giggling female employees repeatedly began yelling, Goodbye!... Goodbye!... Goodbye!, and waving like little girls in junior high. What a shame, we will never return to this restaurant; we will never go to any of their other restaurants; Darcy's Bistro, McCabe's Bistro, Jordan's Bistro, and Casey's Bistro. This letter has also been sent out to my global email list, the company I work for has over 10,000 local employees. My wife works in the food industry and will be discussing this event at the next regional meeting, where her association that reaches across the state. I have contacted the restaurant and left a message for the manager or owner to call but they apparently do not view this horrible customer service as an item of importance. Mark read more
