My friend and I were so excited to give the new incarnation of OBL a try, but it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. First, we asked for our favorite bartender Aaron from Littleton who had made the move to this restaurant, but were informed he already quit? Hasn't this place only been open a month? This is probably indicative of operational issues and poor management. Seated at the bar, which was staffed by 3 bartenders, we weren't even acknowledged for 7 minutes. Finally, bartender Troy came by and dropped off menus, but didn't return for a while. Eventually we received our cocktails, which were bland. I don't know if they were not made well, or if they were made according to a recipe, and the recipe is bad to start, but they certainly weren't worth $13 Food was also overpriced, and bland. Everything tasted like it was frozen. The oysters were not cleaned properly and we barely even touched them. Troy, tattooed girl, and long hair guy didn't even check in on us during the course of the meal, as they were trading off between talking to each other or being so busy other bar guests were neglected too. The decor can be best described as "corporate blah". It's nice, but not nice nice. Final issue: the ladies bathroom wreaks of sewage, the smell of which wafts through the entirety of the back restaurant. It made me want to vomit, and I felt so bad for the tables in the area which could surely smell it as well. After tabbing out, we stopped by Lansdowne Arms next door, and found out that this experience is super common since the reopen. Between poor service, low quality food, overpriced cocktails, and the literal smell of human excrement, we will not be returning. What a shame read more

We haven't been in sometime so we dropped in for lunch and the place was pretty empty. I looking at the menu I expected more American and was disappointed in the amount of Mexican food on the menu. The oyster and ambiance seem to need more elevated experience would have appreciated more seafood, pasta, or even grilled items to dive into. I settled on fish and chips and it was a little disappointing. Fried but not crisp a little on soggy side the tartar sauce had bubbles so in the edge of expiration and fries cooked in oil that needs a refresh. It was b- experience and has protectional to be A++. Very disappointing experience today at Old Blinking Light. Sadly, the service was going well and we were having fun. I was with my wife and younger daughter. My daughter ordered the fish tacos. She found a plastic tortilla clip (piece of it) in her taco. I get that accidents happen, but the response to this list a local customer however. Common sense would say you comp the meal or even the whole bill, but nope not here. They charge my twice for those tacos and comp once. Just unreal experience by this restaurant management. So bummed that this place didn't shine given we are locals. Take my advice--look elsewhere for you next time read more

I visited this location for a weekday lunch recently. I ordered the fish and chips and wow! The portions are huge here. The tartar sauce was delicious and the fish was crispy- would definitely order this again. We sat inside but they have a huge patio I want to check out when we have warmer temps and I also want to explore their drink menu too! We were excited to try the new OBL for lunch. Menu looks great, restaurant is beautiful, service was friendly... but wow the prices are off the charts. I know this is Highlands Ranch but it is excessive. Most of the salads with protein will be near $30. You can go next door and get a similar item for almost half the price. We ended up finishing our beer and finding a new place for lunch. We will be back to try the happy hour and give it a chance but yikes that pricing is hard to overcome. read more

I just stopped at the newly remodeled OBL. It looks like a new restaurant. New tables and chairs, the new decor makes such a difference. It's more open and a lot less cluttered. Their drinks are great and they added oysters and additional items to their happy hour menu and the main menu. Consider it the new neighborhood bar and restaurant in Highlands Ranch. We came here for Mothers Day brunch and the experience was a total disappointment. The service was absolutely horrible. Our waitress could care less that she had a table to service; oftentimes just hanging out chatting with the other servers. We came at 2pm for a reservation and it was not busy, so there is no excuse for the lack of service. We waited for quite a long time to get our drink orders. We ordered Bloody Marys, which anyone who has ever had one knows typically is served with garnishes, like celery, a lime/lemon, olives, etc.; these were served with nothing. It tasted like it was just Bloody Mary mix and no vodka whatsoever. So we asked to return them and ordered other drinks. Those took some time to get and were fine. The food quality was good- no complaints there. But we had to ask for silverware after the fact vs it already being on the table or brought with the food. She never came to see how our food was or to ask if we needed anything else. We had to ask another person working the dining area for additional drinks, which then, surprisingly never got "registered". We finally got the last round after we finished everything and already boxed up our food to go. We used to come here often before the new ownership/reopening, but we won't be back after today's experience. read more

($12) Note you only get 4 pieces. The taquito's green salsa made it taste good because the chicken itself was dry and not tasty. I ordered 2 apps to eat-- the beet salad appetizer and the sweet & spicy shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was not spicy, it definitely was on the sweet side. Decent amount of shrimps for the cost. ($15) The beet salad was really good, refreshing with goat cheese and pumpkin seeds. It was also well priced. ($10) Hubby got the prime rib dip, which he overall enjoyed. The con was that the portion seemed a bit small for the cost ($22) For dessert we got Juans flan ($6) and the brownie sundae ($8). I have been a long time client at Old Blinking Light and feel like the new ownership/management has really brought a negative influence to its consumers since the takeover. I have enjoyed seeing my friends over happy hours for over ten years and feel that the new management is taking the restaurant in a totally wrong direction. The new happy hour menu, drink prices, small liquor pours and a 3% charge for paying with a credit card are outrageous. Name 1 restaurant/bar that charges any kind of fee for using a credit card? Just ridiculous! At this time I am going to have to boycott this establishment and ask that ownership/management think about how these new policies will affect business from loyal customers that have been paying the bills from Covid and years since then. These are the people that gave you life. I have heard from several people that the new woman in charge has really left a sour taste in loyal customers mouths. The repercussions of this will likely end in the closure of OBL unfortunately. I don't believe that this establishment has taken the necessary steps to ensure that new policies keep loyal customers happy and spending money that makes the restaurant successful. I'm so glad they reopened for lunch! My coworker and I came in twice last week for lunch. The bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers are to die for. The atmosphere and service are amazing and the new manager came and chatted with us for a while too, she is a great addition to the team! Terrible service, drinks had to be returned multiple times for not being made correctly, and the bill came out with everything full price that should have been on happy hour. My husband and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary on April 22nd at the Old Blinking Light. It was our first time trying the restaurant. Wow! It was amazing. The staff was very friendly. The "New" OBL isn't great. I used to enjoy coming here several times a month, but that won't be happening. The remodel isn't that much different, which is fine. But the staff is not good. Slow. Poor communication. Doesn't know the menu... The old staff was great, but where are they?? The new menu (which isn't even on the website) is not as good as the old menu. Some of the old items are there, but I'm not a fan of the limited choices. Tough to lose an old standard, when there are limited choices in the area, but I'll choose Lazy Dog, Smokin Fins, Postino's from here out. read more

Service was extremely disappointing on Christmas Eve. The hostess appeared unhappy and unwelcoming. When we were seated, she asked if the table was okay. I asked if we could move from a small four-top table to a smaller booth since I have tailbone issues and it hurts to sit on hard chairs. She said no, stating the booths were reserved for other guests, yet no one was seated in them during the entire 45-60 minutes we were there. We also had a reservation, so it was confusing why the question was asked if no effort was made to accommodate us. After being seated, it took approximately 15-20 minutes just to receive water, with no apology or acknowledgment from the wait staff despite us sitting unattended at the table, waiting. Once our food arrived, the waiter refilled only my daughter's water (ours was also empty) and then walked away to another table. I had to ask him, as he passed by again, if the rest of the table could have water refilled, as all of our glasses were empty. Overall, the waiter was inattentive and disengaged. As we walked out the hostess could have said have a good night but didn't acknowledge us as she stood there. The restaurant earns two stars solely because the food was acceptable. Unfortunately, the poor service ensures we will not return. It was certainly not worth it and an unfortunate choice for Christmas Eve, made worse by the lasting negative memories created by the staff. read more

We are new to the neighborhood and wanted to try one of the local eateries. The service was exceptional but it pretty much stopped there. We started with cocktails, I had a vodka soda and the soda had no carbonation. When food arrived, mine was cold and had to be sent back. This used to be our very favorite restaurant in Highlands Ranch. We still really like it, but miss the old menu. Sadly, they decided to pare down the old menu and many items that used to be on it are only available in the bar and patio area and many other items are not on the menu at all. We loved the smothered chicken sandwich, which is gone, as well as the sweet and spicy shrimp, which is available only in the bar/patio area. Those are the first to come to mind, but there are several others, as well. Not sure why they decided to limit the menu so much. Anyway, all that is to say I would give OBL 5 stars with the old menu, but now would only give it 4. A favorite item for us is always the crispy brussels sprouts. They are honestly some of the best brussels sprouts we've ever had. And the mango margarita is phenomenal. Tonight we ordered the flatbread special, which had bacon, avocado, and mozzarella cheese, and it was also really good. OBL has a great atmosphere, and our favorite time there is in the summer when you can comfortably sit on the patio. It's nice to have a unique restaurant to go to in Highlands Ranch! read more

The menu feels stale. It's been at least 6 years since I've eaten here and I was hoping for more variety. The steaks, fajitas and assorted items that were brought out around us looked delicious. Hubs had fish and chips with a side salad. He said it was good, not great. I had a grilled shrimp ceaser salad. Very generous portion of shrimp, could have used some more char. The romaine was crisp, bagged shred parmesean and bland Ceasar dressing. This basic salad deserves better. Wait staff was running and good. They kept up on refills. Dessert was mud pie, delicious. I re-visited here recently and really enjoyed their fries and Nat's salad! I added grilled chicken but really ended up wishing I didn't since it had too much of a charbroiled flavor which I did not enjoy. Everything else in the salad was a perfect mix of texture and tastes that worked perfectly together. Service was superb and vibe was upbeat. Quality of ingredients used was pretty awesome. I have driven by the Old Blinking Light for years, and always thought about going there, but never did. I now regret that. This is a great place...good food, lively atmosphere. I definitely will be back. There were a lot of large-ish groups, which makes sense, since this seems like it is a great place to go with friends. We started with the chips and salsa and guacamole and added queso. The queso is top notch. I had the BLAT burger, with the duck fat fries. Pro tip: dip the duck fat fries in the queso. The ketchup and ranch, etc are house made and that care and quality really shine. Every bit of the meal showed that they do care about putting together a great meal. My wife had the Ahi sandwich. It was a great piece of blackened fish. One note on this, the slaw that they put on this sandwich is really dry. So my wife asked if the had some aioli, the waiter brought some lemon aioli. This took the sandwich up to a whole new level. I highly suggest that any one ordering this sandwich also request that lemon aioli; and really Old Blinking Light should consider that.
