I've been a regular (currently the Yelp Duke) of Lanshing Cafe since its arrival to this location over 8 years ago. As such, and having traveled extensively in Asia generally and China specifically, I can comfortably recommend the consistency and quality of the food and service. There are some cosmetics and tidiness issues (I'd guess due to limited staff - just mom & pop here), that affect the overall experience and prevent me from an overall 5 Star rating. The food was amazing and she has so many different varieties of tea, I thought I was in a tea shop, not a restaurant. The Garlic beef was super garlicy and just a little spicy. Super tasty. I can't get enough of Asian food, but I've had enough of Lanshing after just one visit. While the service was friendly, and the food quick; the portions were small even at a lunch price ($6.75+tax). The Schezwan Chicken had a nice heat but was very strange tasting. It was incredibly sweet like pineapple. Lanshing = ehh. read more

Cons: interesting menu, it's Americanized chinese food, have had the worst gas of my life since eating there. Not sure if it's the oil used or what, but my wife and kids had the same issue. We order quite a bit from Lanshings Cafe .. so much that they know our order when I call. We always order their PORK CHOW FUN and a few other goodies to go along with it. It's fresh as are their EGG ROLLS and CRAB RANGOON. I love their EGG DROP SOUP ... the individual size is just enough. They have a unique sweet and sour sauce that we've never had before and really enjoy. Give them a try. They are a family restaurant, a real Mom and Pop kind of place. Fast too. Call ahead and then leave. More than likely, it will be ready to go as soon as you get there. Please tip well and support locally owned restaurants. Such a great local Chinese spot! We recently moved here and tried it for the first time last week. We went again tonight and enjoyed it so much. So far we love the Orange Chicken, Garlic Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Vegetable Lomein, Vegetable Egg Foo Young, Egg Rolls and the Jasmine Tea. My boyfriend's family and I were on vacation in Colorado Springs and we picked this restaurant to eat at because it had a high review. Unfortunately the only thing edible was the egg rolls. My boyfriend's sisters both ordered the king pao chicken and said it tasted fishy. When they mentioned it to the waitress and she blamed it on the pots they used to cook. Instead of offering to get them something else or trying to make the situation better in any way, she was making excuses and got upset with them. I ordered the chicken with stir fried mushrooms and when I received the plate, I couldn't tell what meat was on it but it certainly did not look like chicken. I didn't even attempt to try it because of how unappetizing it looked. Again, I did like the egg rolls but that was about it. read more

I don't write reviews often but I was very disappointed with our meal. The "fried rice" we ordered was plain brown rice. I don't believe this was a mistake because we online ordered & had 3 of the same when it was clear we chose fried rice. No eggs or veggies in the rice. Both our sesame chicken were SUPER dry with no sauce except a thin layer at the bottom. It appeared to have been made hours prior then reheated before we picked up. The egg roll was saturated in oil. Positive - the Kung Pao chicken was good & fresh & the crab Rangoon was good. Check your food before you leave for takeout. read more

I would recommend this delicious Ma-and-Pa Chinese restaurant. If you go here, do not expect Panda Express, PF Chang's, or other worthless chains; this is much more authentic and delicious. They have spicy Sichuan dishes, like my favorite, mapo tofu, and make it vegetarian. (I did ask if they use Sichuan peppercorn, but alas they do not. Very common not to in the Springs.) I prefer very, very spicy foods. This had little spice, but strong flavor. Portion sizes are huge and reasonably priced, especially lunch specials. My partner got the orange chicken with crab and cream cheese wontons. The wontons are slightly sweet, and the orange chicken was perfectly crisp. Everything was made to order, hot, and fresh. I do wish they delivered, but again, this is a family run business, dedicated to the dining experience. Very friendly. I plan to return. read more

Amazing service! The food was quite good, although I found I needed to add a little soy sauce and vinegar to make everything flavorful enough for me. I had the Szechuan chicken and the black bean noodles. The chicken was delicious (although I added some soy sauce) and the noodles were pretty plain. The TEXTURE of the noodles was perfect though. I don't know if the were homemade, but they had that awesome chewy quality you get in great noodles. Worth a stop! read more

Walked in and the mood was very somber and only a few customers was in there. After several minutes of looking at the menu went up to the counter to order. I wanted sesame chicken with Lo mein. The woman gasped and said "This isn't Panda Express"!! I was blown away be her statement!!! Never in my life have I had anyone in any type of customer service situation found a person so condescending! Ordinarily I would have walked out but had my 3 year old son and disabled mother with me who both was set on Asian! The food arrived pretty promptly and was actually very good! We did ask for extra sesame sauce and was denied, asked for duck or eel sauce as well and they didn't have it. If I was someone who values customer service do not eat in here, I would recommend take out if anything!!! read more

I came here after mountain biking, feeling completely ravenous. I didn't know what to order so I figured the daily special 'chicken fried rice' would be a good option. Unfortunately I was incorrect. They gave me a small take out box with the most pitifully small serving of rice and what look like cheap frozen carrots and peas I've ever seen. Tiny serving size, cheap ingredients, and terrible taste... This is not how a business should be run. I could have gotten the same quality meal for cheaper by buying a frozen steamable bag of fried rice from King Supers. I'm never coming back here. read more

Lanshing Cafe is an authentic mom-and-pop Chinese restaurant owned by a Taiwanese husband and overseas (South Korea) Chinese wife. They offer a traditional takeout menu with a few specialties, including Jjamppong noodles and Taiwanese Style Beef Noodle Soup. Prices for the traditional takeout dishes are very reasonably priced, especially for lunch. The specialties are pricier. With tip and tax, the Taiwanese Style Beef Noodle Soup come out to be almost $20. The dish was very good though - excellent soup, tender noodles, juicy and soft beef, and a vast assortment (though untraditional with broccoli, lettuce, and carrots). The portion was quite large and filling. It also came with a side of Takuan radish, a great addition. The owners are very quiet and work hard. The wife was attentive to my water level and checked up on me a few times. The wait time for the bowl of noodles dining-in was about 25 minutes. I'd recommend this place for their specialty dishes, though they are pricey (on the east coast, the same would cost less than $10). Give them a try and blessings! read more

I used to go here all the time a few years ago. The service was great and the food was even better. I tried it today for the first time in 2 years and got food poisoning. I was nauseous and vomiting. Super cute little place! Smelled like delicious food and i was not disappointed. I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp with fried rice and the husband orderEd sesame chicken with friend rice. We also got an order of shrimp friend rice. The pirtionss were big enough to split and have plenty of leftovers. My four year old devoured the rice. The shrimp was absolutely perfect- light and crispy on the outside and fat shrimp on tthe inside. There were marischino cherries on the platte which delighted the kiddo. Yes, I am a fan of fast Asian food. Is this Mark Pi's? No!!! Thank goodness. Why is it good? My kids actually love it and we can walk here; so yes, it is about location of us too. This is the only place where my kids enjoy spicy food. I do not know what they put in their Szechuan Chicken, but my kids absolutely love it and if you try it, the chicken is quite spicy for a kid. They only eat the chicken and then I am stuck with the vegetables, but I love all the vegetables that Lanshing Cafe includes in their dishes; much more than the usual quick wok strip mall joints. Another amazing aspect that my kids enjoy are the soups. Either their tastebuds are developing only at Lanshing-rate or this demonstrates how good Lanshing's food is, but the kiddos enjoy the tofu in the soups and the peas in the egg drop soup. What?? Never before. Unseen anywhere else and I have tested this out elsewhere (besides my kitchen). Worth a try; especially with their cheap lunch combo prices! read more

This place is really good...my favorite Chinese in the Springs. I've lived here for about four years and hadn't found a Chinese restaurant that I really love yet. The closest I've come is Xiang's near Powers/Constitution. Lanshing Cafe is so tasty and everything tastes so fresh and bright and never leaves me feeling yucky afterwards like some other Chinese places. No matter where I go I pretty much always order sweet and sour pork or sesame chicken/general chicken and one of my pet peeves is over-cooked pork and poultry...some places just fry it so long that it dries up and is so difficult to chew. I've never had this happen at Lanshing, everything is cooked just perfectly. My favorite thing to get is the Peking style sweet and sour pork. The first time I ordered it they warned me that it didn't come with the typical red sauce, but a milder WHITE sauce. I still decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did. The pork is cut into strips as opposed to chunks which I feel enhances the texture/flavor. It's just amazing. Also, this place has the BEST CRAB RANGOON I've ever had in my life. The filling leans toward the sweet side and isn't too salty which is exactly what I look for in my crab wontons. The sesame chicken is delicious and sweet and garlicky! I've also had the orange chicken and loved it, but my husband always has to ask for it to be extra saucy because he thinks it comes a bit dry, just fyi. Go here, it's wonderful!! read more

I've had a lot of Chinese food in Colorado Springs, and this is definitely among the top. I ordered the shrimp and seasonable vegetables for lunch with egg drop soup. The tofu chunks in the soup were huge and the bamboo shoots were good. Their wontons are literally the best I've had. I didn't try the egg roll because it had pork. The shrimp was amazing. The vegetables were good too but I had trouble picking a few up with a fork. They don't have chopsticks, which I found odd, so I'll bring my own next time. The portions were good and priced appropriately. I was also able to have boba or Xing tea with my food, which are better options than any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. I'll try their bean curd (which I didn't realize until after I ordered meant tofu) next time. Also the entrees come with steam, fried, or brown rice. I like this place. More authentic than most, they make some truly satisfying Chinese food. You can find dozens of more commercialized alternatives in the area, but Lanshing'll cook some great, warm, tasty, Chinese food in a relaxed setting. Right now I am eating some hot, delicious wonton soup without pretention. The soup bowl is massive with large wontons floating in a rich chicken broth. The cost was $5. The staff is friendly and delivers your food in minutes. As I eat, I am watching the Chinese cook prepare someone else's order fresh. One of the few Chinese joints I had not yet tried, so I hit them up last week. This is a rather small restaurant, with limited inside seating and a few tables outside. I really think this place is more popular with the "take out" crowd than the "dine in" crew. You order at counter, and then sit down, and food is brought to you, so it is not a total 'restaurant' style place. With that said, the service was extremely polite and friendly. The food itself was decent enough, and I appreciate the fact that it was not overly-greasy and the stir frys were not laden with lots of brown-gloppy sauce, like the kind you find at most places in town. If you don't like a ton of veggies in your stir frys, they will cut back on them, and offer you a bit more protein. They will also adjust the spice-level for you. Overall, I have to say this place is much better than most so-called Chinese restaurants in this town, and this would be a solid take-out option for me if I lived in the neighborhood. This is perhaps one of two authentic Chinese restaurants in the Springs. Their house specialty noodles are the reason I go there. The beef soup noodles and cha jiang mian are the best! That just about all I order there and they never disappoint. I'd love for them to add garlic leafy greens to their menu. read more

Holly MSG bomb! Ordered the "lunch special" chicken friend rice. Consisted of a tiny portion of vegetable fried rice with tiny pieces of fried chicken that is typically used for other chicken dishes. The batter on the chicken itself tasted like bland sugar. The rice itself was so salty and full of msg I couldn't eat it. Waste of $10. read more
