This is my favorite restaurant in Colorado Springs. They serve actual authentic Chinese noodles, the only place I have found in Colorado Springs to do so. I have tried all of their soup noodles and their black bean noodles and they all taste fabulous. My personal favorite meal here is the Taiwan style beef noodle soup. Whenever I am in the area I always stop by to eat. The owners are incredibly nice. Prices are reasonable. read more

As a Chinese and a food lover, I can say this place is very good! I have been there many times since the change of owner. Firstly it is authentic Cantonese style cuisine. They greet me everytime I come in as if I am family and place a high emphasis on fresh cooked food, quality, and making you feel welcomed. Average Asian food at best. I felt dirty here with a sticky table and the staff's personal stuff out in the dining area. The staff was okay, but not overly into customer service. We ordered sesame chicken (very dry), orange chicken (best thing we ordered), Mongolian beef (OK) and low Mein whish was not that great. The restaurant was in kept. My wife & I were looking for a close-by Chinese food place, we saw the reviews of Lanshing Cafe and were hopeful that the food was as good as some of the reviewers said it was. I am pleased to announce that the naysayers are wrong. The employee who helped us (owner?) was polite and friendly. I ordered the szechuan shrimp & my wife the cashew shrimp. The portions were generous (easily 20 shrimp in my dish alone), the veggies fresh, and the flavors hit the spot. I think I have a new favorite chinese food place. read more

Very disappointed- $57 of trash. The portions were small. The sesame chicken had no sauce - was just fried chicken. The Mongolian beef had 5 bite size pieces of meat with over 12 ounces of onions and was flavorless as well. We tried to call and all they said was to bring it back- we lived too far to do that at that time of night. We tried to make the best of it but to top it off, the steamed rice was dirty, like they had used a dirty spoon to fill the container. Once we saw that we threw it all away. read more

If you know what a good jajangmeon (black bean noodles) taste like you are wrong. I've tried korean and other Chinese restaurants in different countries that have good jajangmeon, but THIS is the best of the best you will ever try! Once you place your order and hear the chef use that wok, you already know by the sound of it that your food is going to be AMAZING! They also offer wonderful Korean black bean noodles, which come with a side of pickled radish. This is the only place in town I've visited so far which offers those. THE QUICK VERSION: This place is surprisingly really good. Fresh ingredients with authentic cooking, while still really palatable for American tastes and expectations. No grease to be found either, and amazing flavors and tastes that provide some new experiences to a worn-out genre and menu in most American Chinese restaurants. It is the only place I'll go now in the city for Chinese. And on the plus side, I don't have to fear about finding a moth or cockroach in my food or near my table. Plus, the owners are super nice and will make any substitutions that they can and really talk to you about the menu. I was there one time when one girl ordered orange tofu instead of orange chicken, and they experimented and gave it a go. She loved it and they're thinking about putting it on the menu now. Go give it a try and you'll definitely be back for seconds and thirds. I can't go up to Briargate now without going there, even for just a side of crab and cheese wontons. Orange chicken is to die for along with the hunan vegetable dish. THE LONG VERSION: So I was a little surprised when my friend took me to this place, especially with P.F. Changs right down the block which would be their normal pick. I haven't had the best experience with Chinese in the Springs (I'm from the west coast) and was expecting super greasy, overly sweet, and frozen vegetable slop thrown down in front of me with cockroaches hanging out in the corner for my leftovers (This has been my experience for most of the Chinese restaurants here). Well try again. The decor is your standard tables and chairs, nothing special, but with a surprisingly nice paint job, good lighting, and nice menu, not a dark place with dingy wall paper. There's a few Chinese motif trinkets and art pieces along the wall, but not to the extent that you feel a tourist Chinatown exploded on the walls. It's a nice place to go grab a casual lunch and get in and out if necessary or have a nice leisurely dinner. Or just go straight to the counter to order your take-out and go. But forget the decor, the owners and the food is really where its at. It's obvious this is a family-run business and only the owners and sometimes their daughters are running the show. But for only two people, they move really quickly. We came in with five people, which I feared would take forever, but we got our meals in the same amount of time as it would have been at any other place. And we got a full spread of appetizers, five entrees, drinks and desserts. The orange chicken is to die for and you'll eat it right up. It's fresh and tangy and not overly saturated with sugar. The schezwan beef was served with crisp and fresh, not soggy, vegetables and the spice combination was perfect. The spicy hunan vegetables with bean curd are delicious as well and a favorite amongst my vegetarian friends, along with the eggplant dish. And you'll be in heaven with any of the lo-mein or fried rice options if that's your thing. The noodles actually tasted freshly made or prepared, and had a really nice texture. My suggestion is go with a group of three or so, and try all there is to try. You'll all be stuffed by the end since the portions are fairly large and meant for communal dining. But I'm sure if you're determined, you can polish one dish off by yourself because you'll want to keep eating. A word of warning, they will be out of menu items sometimes. Normally, I'd be upset, but the owner explained he didn't have the garlic eggplant dish available that day because he didn't like how the eggplants looked at the store. Looking for some Great Chinese food and have tried several places. Thought this place sounded good. Not so much. I called and ordered takeout. The entree's do not include any rice so you have to pay extra for that. I ordered egg rolls and they were in the same shape of a cigar. The lo mein did not have much taste as well as the rice. Every once in a while, I go out to Colorado Springs to visit my sister. Every time that I've been here, my sister takes me to a new Chinese restaurant to demonstrate that life in CO isn't completely devoid of culture and ethnic food. But every restaurant she has taken me has been an abysmal and disgusting experience. That is until she took me to Lanshing Cafe. Mind you, my sister and I are Chinese and from LA, so we know what Chinese food is supposed to taste like. Colorado Springs, on the other hand, has absolutely no idea, with the exception of this small family owned restaurant. We ordered the General Tso's chicken, chicken fried rice, and a black bean noodle dish [it's an off-menu item, but definitely worth trying]. The General Tso's chicken was perfectly crispy with a nice sweet tang and a kick of spicy. I find that a lot of Chinese restaurants make the mistake of putting WAY too much sauce, thereby making the chicken mushy and squishy. The chicken fried rice was really flavorful, but I wish they could have thrown in a few more veggies. Lastly, the black bean noodle dish was the best thing we ordered. It's dark but rich in flavor. I think they use a black bean sauce, which gives the dish it's almost black-like color. Lanshing Cafe is small restaurant and definitely more popular among the take-out crowd, but it's service is one of the best I have ever encountered. It is definitely a mom and pop shop, but the owners are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Wonderful place and absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in town. read more

Their orange chicken is really good. Soups are pretty average. It's a small mom and pop store that you don't see much of these days, which is a plus. Our favorite place for years now. The food is consistently wonderful and the owner is friendly! We must go there a lot because she recognizes our voices when we call in. A great variety of teas. Poor man's Chinese food. Everything we ordered lacked taste. The crispy noodles had NO noodles in it!! It had crispy crackers NOT noodles!! Their Mongolian beef had no taste and was super dry. Also the place itself was very unclean. I gave this place a chance because of other reviews but I guess with not many Chinese restaurants around in this area it's hard to compare. I tried some really good places but this place was the worse Chinese restaurant I ever eaten in my life!! Not worth the $40 I spent. Panda Express would have been better and the portion size here was so small. I will never come back here. If you like to eat Chinese food go somewhere else! read more

As a long time customer, I needed to use the bathroom and there wasn't any toilet paper.
