We love coming here. Everything from the food to the customer service has been excellent. We ordered so many delicious dishes, including the papaya salad, kaopoon, fried tilapia, kao piek, beef laap, and several other tasty items. I would say their level 3 spice for the laap can get pretty spicy -- it's a slow heat that creeps up on you as you continue eating. One thing I'd ask for next time is some lemon or lime, as I like my laap a bit more tangy. They make their sausages in-house, and while they were good, I think they could be a bit larger considering the price, along with a touch more salt for a more savory flavor. That's just my personal preference. Overall, the food we ordered left us very satisfied. Our waiter was very kind and recommended a few dishes for us to try. Unfortunately, some items were out of stock, but that was completely fine. The decor is beautiful, and I love the lighting! It has the feel of a fancy dining establishment, but you can skip the suit and tie. We had no issues finding parking and their bathrooms (2) have been generally clean when I visited. I can't say it any louder, but this is a must if you enjoy fresh asian flavors and especially Laotian cuisine. The yum salmon, wok tossed beef and pretty everything else is deeeeeelicious! This place is SO good. This was a new cuisine for me and everything was delicious. The flavors remind me of Thai food: pungent, sweet, savory, sour, nutty. We tried several dishes (pls look at my pics:) Fave was the crispy, juicy lemon grass chicken that was cooked to perfection. Another absolute faaave, which we will get every time, is the wok tossed beef - it comes with rice noods, cucumber and cherry tomatoes, lettuce and the most delicious peanut-y vinaigrette. Eat it all mixed in or as a lettuce wrap situation. Either way, it's BOMB! Don't forget to order sticky white rice on the side for the perfect pairing with the flavorful dishes. I was so proud to see a fancy Lao restaurant in Stockton, CA. It was so nice and clean inside, they even had a bar but we were so hungry we just focused on food. Even on the menu was so delicious, the gaeng aum was the only thing that was lacking the hm flavor but it's more of an authentic home dish so no worries I was still amazed that was on the menu, my fav food. Overall, I had a great time & will bring my family for them to try. We love lao food & seeing our people thrive! He gave us lots of good & honest recommendations, and made me a tasty custom mocktail. The Level 1 chili spice in the Eggplant Jaew dip was pretty spicy for our non-Lao palettes, so definitely stay on the lowest levels if you are not used to high spicy levels. The salmon belly appetizer ($15) was incredible, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My favorite dish. I was appreciative of the heaping portions they offered for each of the entrees, especially considering the cheap prices. Also tried the duck laap ($20). Although initially a little sour, it grew on me. Granted it was a Monday night both times, but Lao Der has seemed somewhat empty each time I've been here, so I hope they get more customers because this is a great restaurant, and there are so few places offering Laotian food. We tried the Yum Salmon, a delicious creation of raw salmon, Thai chiles, cilantro, green onion, celery and mint with a bright citrusy house dressing...one bite and we were staring at each other like "where has this been all our lives?" haha but seriously it was the star of our meal. Of course I yelped where to eat in the area closes to the vicinity . Yelp led me to here and glad I followed my trusted fellow reviewers . I took notice right away how clean and intimate the restaurant was , the interior was beautifully decorated with Buddha murals at the front entrance lobby , the color schemes, lighting and plants in the huge glass terrarium makes the space feel so zen . Menu selection was not overly complicated , simple two page choices make it less confusing . We had the Nam khao which I always ordered at other Lao restaurants. Nam Khao here was not well seasoned for me , it's lacking the curry paste and was a tad bland . My husband was looking forward to lemon grass chicken , it's not what he was used to some place else . Here it's more milder taste of lemongrass. Chicken feet salad is a must try here , even flavors of sweet, sour and salty . Bamboo soup has a strong aroma of padek ( fish paste sauce ) other than that it's one of my favorite soup . Service here can use some improvement, our waiter seems somber and sluggish. read more

My fiancé and I got the Laap Beef Tartare, Nam Kao and Sticky Rice and it was so good! Service was amazing, our sever was very attentive and so kind as well! My order was on the spicy side (just how I like it) and he kept refilling my water, which shows that he was paying attention to us. I had driven by this place a few times and was always curious about Laotian Food. Yesterday I was running some errands and was hungry and decided to try it out. The place is nice and open and looks very clean. The waiter came right away and got me water and utensils. I looked at the menu and was surprised by some of the offerings. I ended up getting the home made pork grinds, the deep fried chicken feet and a noodle dish. All the food was really good, but it was way to much for one person. I will definitely go again with some friends that are a little adventurous so we can try some other good items!!! Great place to have some good food!!! read more

The name of the restaurant is catchy. We liked the fact that it has a comma and exclamation point in the name as well. We arrived shortly after they opened. The owner/ waitress had to put a bunch of round tables together for us since we were a big group. She was friendly, but service was a little slow. It took the food awhile for the food to be bought out. I tried the green papaya and laap, which were nice and spicy. For my main, I had the kao poon. I was looking forward to try their nam kao (crispy rice salad) and introduce it to some of the people in my group. It's one of my favorite Lao dishes that isn't too commonly found. It was around $60 for 2 of us for this amount of food Kua Mee (5/5) we both like the texture and flavor. It's not too dry like other reviews said, but not too soggy. We asked for spicy and the spice level was perfect. Beef lapp (4/5): it was ok in my opinion. The beef was tender, the flavor is a but salty, it would be perfect to eat with rice Kao Soy (4/5): it's also just salty flavor, but I think it is how it is since I tried it at other Laos restaurant and it is how it is Mango sticky rice (5/5) you will never go wrong with mango sticky rice. It wasn't too sweet and perfect texture even though it's not mango season Thai tea (4/5): too sweet for me. I was surprised how well-balanced the dishes were with spices and flavors. The flavors were subtle and no one seasoning overpowered the others. However, I can see why some people say there isn't enough seasoning/flavor. I liked the kua mee, the noodles were tasty, it would have been a little better with just a little bit of liquid, the dish was mainly dry like migoreng noodles.
