Would rate 0 if possible. We had a big party so understandably we knew it would take longer for food. But over 2 1/2 hours just to receive our food? Absolutely ridiculous. We like to try different cuisines and although we've had Laotian food at another restaurant here in Las Vegas in the past, today was our first time to have lunch at Lao Kitchen. We brought our friend along because she had never had Laotian food... but we were all unhappy and turned off with the food and I will be apologizing for this bad big mistake of a recommendation for a very long time. The only good thing we had were the chicken potstickers. It was downhill after that. We had the No. 7 glass noodle soup (it was tasty but the meatballs were chewy, could only eat a third of the bowl), the Mok Pah Salmon (very spicy), and the Crying Tiger (couldn't eat the meat -- they were the worst cuts of beef.... ended up spitting out most of it and coudn't finish the rest). We had leftovers but the food was so bad, it wasn't worth taking home anything. Nothing special about the service. The restaurant looks like it definitely needs a makeover. The bathroom was also dirty, just gross. We ended up just hurrying to get out and have coffee and dessert somewhere else just to leave the unpleasantness behind. Sadly, this experience was a waste of time and $$ and made us give up on Laotian food forever. read more

Awesome authentic Lao food!! We have been trying to come here and we finally did today. So happy we did because the food is delicious! We ordered Lao papaya salad, crispy rice with nem (nem khao), larb with chicken, and noodles with curry and coconut milk called "mee ga thi". Everything was spot on with Lao flavors and my wife who is Lao totally loved. We talked to 2 young ladies who were the waitstaff and they are Thai. We found out the place was opened a yr ago and the owners are Lao. On the way out, we stopped by the kitchen compliment them on how yummy all the entrees were. Such nice young people, I hope they will continue to do well and keep the place open because we would love to come back again in the future! We loved the food! The back hallway and bathroom seem a little disorganized like most asian restaurants where they don't really take the time out to make things look nice and organized and in terms of esthetics. My husband and I decided to try this place after I seen reviews on yelp. When you walk into the restaurant it does seem small BUT if you turn to the right, you will see their actual dining area. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. We waited about a minute to be seated. When we were seated we waited a couple minutes to receive a menu. Everything looked good. We settled for the salmon amok, crab fried rice and sticky rice. Food was prepared pretty quick. We waited for about 15-20 minutes. The crab fried rice had a lot of crab and the flavor was amazing. Both husband and I couldn't stop eating it. The salmon amok, man it was so juicy and tasteful. I'm so happy we decided to try this place. I personally highly recommend it. read more

(06/04/2021) Authentic & Comforting. I grew up eating Laotian food and the Chicken Laab was very good however, I was not used to eating it with gizzards, it added a chewy texture. The Khao Poon tasted great, and you can't go wrong with The Crispy Fried Rice. Sticky rice is served in the traditional straw baskets. The spice is on point and you can choose from 3 levels of spice, 3 being the Hottest. An overall good spot for Lao food. Must try if you have not tried Laotian food before! read more

I am sitting here in awe still thinking about my meal at Lao Kitchen yesterday. The food was just....SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Every dish. It's hard to blow me away. To find such a hole in the wall gem in the middle of Las Vegas is unreal. I'm immediately adding this to my recommendation for all LV visitors. This place is unique, authentic and get ready for a flavor adventure if you come here. We came for lunch and ordered enough for an army even though it was just the two of us. We ordered seen savannah (laotian beef jerky that comes w/ sticky rice). Flavors reminded us a lot of thai dishes but of course they have similarities since they're both SE asian. I've had plenty of pork laab from thai joints but the spice here taste so different and i love it so much. Nam Khao is another must get! It is their crispy fried rice w/ pork. I ate it w/ lettuce wrap and it was the perfect bite. We also ordered two large noodle dish - Mee Ga Thi and Kao Piak Sen. Mee Ga Thi was SO GOOD; it reminded me of a laotian khao soi but better. It was red curry base soup with a ton of meat and maybe egg? It almost looks like the runny eggs you'd get in egg drop soup. We also threw in fresh cabbage/bean sprouts in the hot soup and the texture and taste was super refreshing despite how heavy the soup might've looked. Flavors on this is 20/10. Kao Piak Sen was also very special. If you're Filipino, this most resembles misua or "chicken noodle soup". The depth of the broth was so much more than just chicken noodle soup though. It was perfectly peppered and this would make a great rainy day meal. Finding places like this in the middle of the desert makes me happy! One caveat is that their customer service was lacking but they weren't slacking. They only had two waitresses running the entire restaurant so don't expect 5 star dining. It's a drive way out west from the the LV strip for Laotian cuisine. Fact is, there's not a lot in Nevada to choose from. It's similar to Northern Thai food, but different. Their papaya salad comes with small black indigenous crab all cracked up as if pounded in a mortar and pestle. My fav is their Lao sausage...very close to Chang Mai sausage affectionately called 'SaI Oua'. Order it with sticky rice. Their larb has bits of liver, gelatinous pork skin, and other mystery organs...very authentic and not for the gringo faint of heart. I like it though. I tried their Mok pah salmon...it's like the Thai version of 'Hor Mok' which is steamed red curry fish custard wrapped in banana leaf. Lastly, I ordered their Kao Soy. It doesn't have the thick creamy curry I expected from a Thai Kao Soy, but it's not bad. Next time, I'll order their Mee Ga Thi instead. read more

First time ever eating at a Lao Restaurant, and let me tell you! It was the best first experience. It got so busy afterwards, although our server she was really quick and good at multitasking. The food was great! Everything was sooo good. I loved their papaya salad. I got it in mild, and it was a perfect spice. I love spicy but I like to enjoy my food at the same time. Although the food tastes about the same but the portion is noticeably smaller and the price has gone up. One of the dish used to come with glutinous rice but now it is extra. But the serious foodies know the glutinous rice is what makes this dish authentic. Not a good thing. The biggest change is its business practice to questionable. For inside dining, they now charge a 20% gratuity on every check but it states on their menu it is for a party of six or more. We are grateful to the customers from the next table, party of three, alerted us to review our check carefully. Our itemized check listed the dishes with the gratuity added at the bottom although we have only five in our party, 1st red flag ! When the server returns with the visa slip and not the itemized list, 2nd red flag ! because the visa slip only lists the total price and a blank line for TIPS. We have supported this neighborhood restaurant during the pandemic but will not patronize this neighborhood restaurant again nor recommend it to our friends and relatives. Dragged my friends here with me after RiSE and our 5 mile hike. There were more of us so we were able to try lots more things from the menu. Soooo tasty couldn't even get pics of some of the dishes!! My friends ordered nam khao, it was super tasty. Lao sausages were crisp and juicy, chili sauce was a delicious pair. Tried their medium cooked beef laab, one of my faves!! They forgot to bring out our papaya salad so we had to remind them before leaving and they packed it to go. Be careful, the waiter didn't warn us that the Lao heat index was hotter than normal. We ordered mild and it was medium hot, so we had a hard time eating stuff. The pho Noodle salad was very flavorful but the fermented shrimp paste was overwhelming so be care if you don't like that kind of taste. The crispy rice salad was served cold. Good texture and flavors. But I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was hot. The chicken noodle soup was very comforting and the noodles were fat and chewy. The roti dessert was hot and just the right amount of sweetness. Very friendly service and atmospheric was pleasant until a gaggle of young women that appeared to know the owner came in and started talking totally loud with each other. The best authentic Lao restaurant I've tried. Wish I had a local restaurant this delicious. This restaurant is worth the drive off or Uber/lyft off the strip. We were so excited to try all of their food as it's "home" meal for us. Everything we ordered was delicious! Laotian food tend to be more on the salty side so have a big cup of water ready. The dish sizes are huge too (family portion). I have to admit though, kuapoon is my favorite dish! The broth is the best I've ever had; thick and flavorful. I understand prices have gone up due to inflation but what you pay for is ridiculous in comparison to other Lao restaurants in the area... I've only tried Lao food twice and I'm curious to keep trying more dishes. It's a twist on Thai cuisine for me. We had kao piek. Which was a noodle soup that reminded me of a hearty chicken noodle soup. Really good and not a lot of spice added. We also tried the Lao sausage. I'm not sure if I was a big fan of this. It seemed a little burnt on the outside but the flavor was sweet. and the inside was meaty and a little dry for me. We also had the tum Laung pha bang. A papaya salad but it was in bigger slices. We got a 7 bc we wanted to feel the burn haha. The rating is similar to Thai spice.. It was pretty spicy. We also got sticky rice. I liked each dish but it wasn't enough to want to order again next time. I actually want to keep coming here to try out their other dishes bc it's very unique and has a particular style that i can't get anywhere else.
