I really enjoy shrimp not over cooked. The delivery is very friendly. I recommend this especially for locals.

Same old Chinese place here. I got carryout, and it was pretty much as expected: lots and lots and LOTS of rice with a little bit of entree and a lot of sauce. This place has been in the same area for several years now, and we used to feel sorry for the owners who spent a lot of money on a lighted outdoor sign which misspelled Peking as "Peiking." So for years we called it the Lao Piking Restaurant. And they've never changed the sign after all these years. I guess they figured out it identified the place, so why spend the money? Inside was fairly run down, and the staff was brusque and businesslike. I was happy to take my food and go. But I wished I had gone elsewhere. The food was okay, but only just. And all the rice went outside for the birds and squirrels, as I don't really care for plain white rice. With as much Chinese carryout as I buy, the leftover containers of rice tend to stack up in my freezer managing to hide the food I might actually eat someday. At least with Panda Express you can substitute noodles or greens for the rice. Noodles I'll eat. Someday I'm going to walk into a Chinese restaurant and say, "Just give me the entree and the fortune cookie. Forget about the rice." So I can clearly see just how little I'm getting for my $8-14 entree and cookie. Maybe that will cure me of my Chinese carryout habit. Anyway, this place is not recommended, and I won't be back unless I'm desperate for my Chinese food fix. read more

Food was horrible, I had combination fried rice and egg drop soap. The soup wasn't edible. It had no flavor and looked to be nothing but corn starch water. Delicious food. Waiter was a charming and efficient 12 year old. Weed-filled cracks in the parking area, and some deteriorated (but painted) wood on the front. They make every order fresh upon receipt of order, which I like. Been coming here for years! Their Moo Goo Gai Pan is fantastic. The chicken is so tender it almost melts in your mouth! They can modify your level of spicy if you like and I always get mine a "little spicy" and it gives it just the right amount of heat. The food used to be so good - now not so much. I always order the Szechuan and it wasn't spicy at all and I asked that the baby corn and bamboo to be left out - well it wasn't. I asked them to add snow peas - and they didn't. The containers used to be full, now they are half. Usually there are a lot of vegetables and sauce - just onions, some beef, a couple of mushrooms, some water chestnuts, a little green pepper and the two items I asked to 86. The Empress Chicken was soggy and not at all spicy; The Twice Baked Chicken had so much cabbage that you could hardly find the three tiny pieces of chicken; the egg rolls tasted like they had gone south. We have been going to Lao Peking's for almost 10 years now, and we have always gotten fantastic food. We always get carry-out or delivery, as the portions are much better in those options than the in-house options. The food is always hot and delicious, and we always have leftovers to enjoy the next day. I have ordered several times from Lao Peking. I generally get the same entree shrimp & vegetables in a brown sauce. In the past I have never had any issues. I ate one shrimp from the order I placed on 1/1/19 it had a horrible taste, and if you smelled the entree it had a cat urine smell. I like this small Chinese place and usually visit in the evening for a nice, relaxing dinner. I like their crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, chicken fried rice, Egg Foo Young, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. The restaurant is not what you'd call fancy but the food is pretty good and is served hot without having to wait for a long time. The restaurant is located at a convenient location--right on Sterling and close to Truman Road and 24 Highway. I highly recommend their Almond Chicken for lunch or dinner. This dish has fresh almond, celery. and carrots with delicious white sauce on top. The serving of the main dishes is pretty generous, but I often have to ask for extra steamed rice to go with my entree. read more

They got here earlier than promised both times. Great tasting food overall. Cons: I didn't enjoy the flavoring on their broccoli beef, but that is more of a personal taste thing, not their fault. It was a bit expensive, but it made sense why due to the cost of delivery. Overall, I would order from them again if I had the chance. It may not be everyone's favorite, but I don't think they deserve all the 1 star reviews. The lady on the phone does have a thick accent, but she was nice enough. Moo Shu pretty good, but the sauce is too runny and thinned out. The sweet and sour sauce isn't that good, but the chicken portion of it was good. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was pretty good. I would eat there again, but it isn't the best I've had. read more

We have been ordering from here since 2015 when we moved to Independence. We were always pleased with it (nothing earth shattering but consistent) this past weekend we decided to look on door dash- checked the menu there but ordered direct because we would rather give the delivery fee to the restaurant. The Door Dash menu had items they don't sell...and the lady was kind of rude about it. Then the order gets to us: NO RICE was sent...so a Chinese restaurant that doesn't give you rice...huh. I was annoyed but just made rice for my husband. I got the wonton soup- it was awful. It tasted like hot pasta water. NO flavor at all and the wontons were all torn up so there were like two pieces of the meat filling and the rest was empty torn up wonton dough. We WILL NOT ORDER AGAIN. No flavor and missing items= ordering from somewhere else because with Door Dash and Grub Hub we are not just limited to your delivery anymore. Something has changed and we are done. read more

However if you can go the extra miles head somewhere else. Plenty of other American Chinese places to dine, and this is one of my least recommended. Food is often cold, and when it's not it is scorching hot. The delivery woman is quite nice, and she arrives promptly. Overall, head to a different place.
