Family night out. 1st time here. Mexican food. Servers were really attentive. Wait time was not to long to be seated or before you got your food. We all got beef nachos and everyone was pleased with their order. The place was Mexican design with low lighting.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Birmingham. Highly recommend the grilled Baja Fish Tacos and the bbq chicken quesadilla My husband gets the Taco Salad and the Zapnin with steak add queso

I've heard about this place from all my Chelsea coworkers. I was in the area, so I decided to check it out. I ordered the street corn and the Zapnin - overstuffed chimichanga. The street corn was okay. It had good taste, but overall, it didn't have an authentic flavor to me. There was a bit too much aioli sauce too. The chimichanga was good. A big portion that came with all the toppings. I also enjoyed the house made red and green tomato salsas.

Decent lunch, but not the best Mexican food in town. Portions are decent (the soup could be a whole meal), Mexican corn was fresh and well-seasoned and the rice was tasty, but other ingredients seem a bit stale - diced chicken was dry, and blue tortilla strips for the soup lacked fresh crunch. Service was good, and drinks were refilled. The dining room is large with tables well spaced-out, and there's a separate bar area and outdoor tables. Pricing is standard for the area, and won't break the bank. I might try it again at some point, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Yep. Dead bug in my son's steak fajitas. Alarming how many reviews are about bugs in the food.

Cuban Quesadilla, blue corn nachos with no chicken, street corn, queso

Great little lunch spot! We had to run to Lamb's Ear for a gift and decided to pop in for lunch. We had the original queso, I had the blue corn nachos without chicken and street corn, and my husband had the Cuban quesadilla. The queso was a bit spicier than we were expecting (we don't handle spicy well), but everything was very tasty. We are outside, and had a wonderful time just relaxing on our day off. We popped into a couple of other shops within walking distance afterwards.

This is a spot that I always have to go to when I'm in town! I adore the blue corn nachos and I get the sangria swirl to accompany it. The queso here is delicious as is the salsa. I love the casual vibe. There are a ton of families and large parties when I'm there. There is also a separate bar area. I usually go for dinner but it looks like they do have a happy hour. There is sometimes a little wait but it's usually not long for a party of four. My hubby loves the tacos here.

The ambiance was great, but the food was just ok. It was such a long wait I thought the food would be amazing.

Nice atmosphere. The food is good but not a big selection like other Mexican restaurants. The tangerine margarita is the best.

They have a food truck that I've heard wonderful things about and I ordered the chicken Caesar salad. It was almost like a chopped Caesar salad and it was just the right amount for a small girl dinner. If you like Parmesan cheese, this is a must order as they do not skimp on that! What was really nice however was that you couldn't tell the food was from a food truck. It was great quality and you are able to order from inside the bar and they deliver it to you. That was a great service. I can't quite remember which cocktail I got, but it was very delicious and at one point the server had even given me a new chilled glass so my drink would remain cold as I sipped on it. This is definitely a great date night spot or just a place to grab a drink with friends, definitely a little more upscale as we were there in the evening, so the lights were dim. I won't drop my rating as it's spring time in the South but I remember being cold immediately as I walked in- but that's typical for a lot of places.

I ordered the featured Old Fashioned for the evening along with a WhistlePig flight, both were excellent. The Old Fashioned was smooth, balanced, and exactly what a bourbon lover hopes for. One thing I really appreciate about Sloan's is that they host tastings almost weekly (or very often), and they're great about posting details on their social media so you always know what's coming up. It makes the experience feel curated and intentional. The service is always amazing; knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly passionate about bourbon. And the atmosphere? Grown and sophisticated. It's the perfect spot for a date night, a business meet-up, or just a refined night out if you appreciate a good pour. If you love bourbon and want a polished, elevated experience in Birmingham, Sloan's is the place

My husband and FIL liked theirs too. My MIL felt there was barely any alcohol in hers but I cannot confirm. We did have a hiccup with the bill being completely wrong (and we were overcharged twice) but it was all settled. There were not very many people at the bar for a Friday night. But perhaps it's a more late(r) night place. We are all geriatric in our party (sort of). I didn't mind and it seemed to be picking up when we were leaving. Overall decent, but maybe I miss Pale Eddie's just a bit.

Chips were too salty but still crisp and thin. I get the same thing each time because other dishes I've tried are a little too spicy for my taste. The Birria was a touch tough. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the taco salad, but OMG, it was huge!!! To be honest, I was expecting it to be pretty bland but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavor of the dish. The chips and salsa are also a slam dunk. Although the massive pieces of tomato in the salsa were at times a bit too chunky for me. As has been noted, prepare to pay a premium price for tex mex. They don't take cash and there is a service fee for credit cards. Also, many of the servers are a bit cold and standoffish, but I at least had a pleasant interaction with one!
