Food is great. There greens are amazing and most of the time are cooked to perfection. There baked chicken is the best. It has never disappointed my husband nor I. The only thing I wish is there pile answer there phone. I try to place and order a few different times over the phone so I wouldn't have to wait when I get there and they don't answer the phone, yet they are actually open. read more

My first time visiting Lape Soulfood restaurant, I didn't know what to order. Recommended by a friend of mine to try the Turkey chops, I never had them before in my life. I bought the Turkey Chop dinner with two sides, greens and macaroni, and cheese. To my dismay the smothered gravy turkey chops were unidentifiable tasted like 4 ounces of salt was dump in the food, so much for people who have high blood pressure, and that would be over 80 % of their customers. I sat and waited for my food and while I waited the staff and other customers were talking about local news that was taking place on the tv at the time. I've been here multiple times as per the food is good but every time I've been here the service of the cashiers specifically is always as bad as bad can get . Usually the cashiers have as bad of an attitude as you can get for working in the service field and I've have tried many times just to see if maybe the person on that particular day was just having a bad day but nah literally every time I've been there it was just more of the same . Every thing I have tried was delicious there. The service is good and the people are nice. I especially like the cheesy potatoes, yams, baked chicken, greens, and fried catfish. Finally a soul food carryout near me! I have been waiting for my chance to try Lape's and today was that day. There are tv screens to your right as soon as you enter with menu items. If you walk in and order, it is a bit of a wait, so if you're in a hurry, call ahead. There are a few chairs and a cushioned love seat for patrons to sit on. Today my family ordered the 4pc fried chicken, mashed potatoes, okra, rib tips, red beans and rice, pot roast, collards, and macaroni and cheese. At the last minute I bought a slice of strawberry cake. As soon as we got home, we tore into our food. Everything was delicious. The pot roast was tender, the fried chicken was seasoned well, the rib tips were finger licking good, and all the sides were perfect. The strawberry cake was amazing as well. The cake itself was very moist and the frosting added a nice extra strawberry touch. We will definitely be back! read more

I was a little disappointed that the pork chops weren't really smothered. They were friend pork chops with gravy poured on top. The dressing was good and the mac and cheese was good. The staff was really nice and food amazing. I would recommend going early in the day to get everything fresh, if you really care. Except for the fried chicken that's cooked to order, everything else sits in a tray waiting to be scooped for the next custome. For $12-15 you get a pretty hearty dinner. I was shocked at the level of unprofessionalism I like their food but won't return to this location and won't recommend this location. I tried calling to place an order with them they did not answer after calling twice. I drove there and placed my order got my food and drove 20 minutes back home and when I turned on my street my food slid out the bag onto the floor I was super sad hahaha. But I called them again no answer I called 7 times then they finally answered (not sure what that was about) I seriously thought their phone was broke but I guess not. I explained to the guy Dashawn (something like that) what happened and asked if they could accommodate me and that I would bring the food back to prove I wasn't lying and his response was that it wasn't his fault. Which I never blamed anyone honestly it was mines. But I didn't argue because honestly there was nothing I could say for him to reconsider. But I just can't see myself giving my business to places that can't see the politeness in accommodating someone who just spent $50 or at least give a better explanation other than sorry ma'am but that ain't our fault haha. The customer service sucked and I wasn't able to buy more cornbread for my meal because they needed to keep enough supply for the next hour until the store closed. I am a paying customer and should be allowed to buy as much food as I want. If you are worried about supply then you need to make more food until closing to please all customers. The cashier was very nasty in her explanation to me and I didn't buy the meal. I will find another restaurant who doesn't have a problem with good customer service and taking my money.
