Good food good service definitely taking care of the community with down home cooking

Pork chops 4 piece. Thin but tender no seasoning.

Ambiance was ok. Would like to have seen just a lil more. Just a bunch of red every where. Service was good. They greeted you early and kept you up to date on the process. Food was ok at best. I ordered pork chops for myself with Mac n Cheese and yams and greens. The dinner came with 4 pork chops and 2 sides for 18.99. I ordered my wife a half slab and it came with man n cheese and baked beans. The review: Pork chops were tender however no seasoning whatsoever. Ribs were decent but the sauce tasted like Open Pit. Mac N cheese not seasoned at all. Baked Beans my wife says were over cooked and extremely stiff. Yams were extremely oily and not sweet. My pup loved them though. Greens were a bit gritty for me. The cornbread was decent. Overall I would give them a 5.5 out of 10. Don't know if this was a bad day, so I may give them another shot in the future.

Did you say SOUL FOOD?! Cause it definitely fed my soul for sure. This is the kind of food you can't usually find in restaurants and would have to cook at home! Luckily for us Ribs and Soul has a technique for the perfect meal that makes you feel at home or at your grandmas house! DELICIOUS AND HEFTY SERVINGS FULL OF FLAVOR AND COLOR! Literally everything I ordered was top tier and affordable! I will definitely be back and will be recommending it to everyone I know who's looking for some GREAT eatin! Thank you for the opportunity to try your delicious food! The service was fast and the food came out hot! The menu is straight to the point and you know what you're getting like I said it might even be more than what you thought it was going to be! The inside of the restaurant smelled yummy and was extremely clean! There is no seating area so it's definitely a to go spot! Sitting right next to a gas station for any other necessities you had in mind! A one stop shop! Get it while it's hot!

Absolutely disgusting ribs. There is a layer of fat all the way across the entire slab and the meat that is edible is dryer than the Sahara. The Mac and cheese was hideous and so was the potato salad. I will never be back, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves

The food here is so good. The menu covers all the basics you would want for good soul food, dressing, greens, mac and cheese, pound cake, etc. Fast carry out and very clean lobby. Located right outside a residential neighborhood of Mt. Clemens, off of Harrington and Gratiot. I ordered the baked chicken dinner with dressing, mac and cheese. I also ordered the ribs with dressing and greens. Cornbread came with both dinners. My Dad and I enjoyed our meals, the seasoning was on point too, unlike a lot of bbq places in Macomb County. This place has only been open for 3 years, I totally didn't know it existed because I usually drive to Detroit from northern Macomb county to get good soul food (that I didn't have to make myself). I'll definitely be coming back to try out more of the menu.

this is the third time i've ordered from this place. the first time was great. excellent food and wonderful portions. second time the missed an entire meal in my order.. i thought it was a mistake. things happen, people are busy.. however, i tried again and AGAIN they missed an entire meal and the ribs have this weird oil on them.. not bbq sauce like expected.. if i could give 0/5 i would. never ordering again very disappointed :(

Grrrr! It pains me to write reviews about food when you wish the place would succeed! However, had I paid attention to the lady who said Mac N Cheese was bland and her chicken was soggy I would not have wasted 12.70 today! I ended up passing this place twice trying to figure out how to get in so that I could park. So it's not in a convenient location. I arrived and it smelled soo good! I couldn't wait to taste the sides and the fried chicken! I ordered two lunch specials so I wouldn't have to go back out later on in the evening, I had Mac n cheese and collards as my sides and both meals came with cake like dry cornbread. The fried chicken wings were soggy like the grease wasn't hot enough to make it crispy just cooked. They were also super bland not seasoned at all!! The collards were sweet which shocked me because I thought they were supposed to be savory! The Mac n cheese was the worst of all my foods. Spooned into a styrofoam container then to be microwaved and my styrofoam melted onto the Mac! So it left a weird taste! The Mac was also really mushy like it had been reheated several times not al dente nor just right damn near like mashed potatoes! Does this place need work? YES! Take this as constructive! Increase the heat on your fryer, fry the chicken longer to get crispy skin because I don't know not one person who likes soft chicken skin! Up your seasoning game on your collards let them soak in ham hocks and oxtail! Remove your noodles at least 3-4 minutes before they get done if you plan on re-heating th to avoid mushy Mac n cheese and for the love of souls food, use some damn seasoning!!!!!!! Update: to fellow Yelper who is discrediting my review, this isn't the platform to be used to bash someone else's review. I said what I said. Everything I posted on my review was based on mY experience NOT yours.

If you are looking for soul food in Northern Macomb county, this is the place to be! They are only open Friday-Sunday. The customer service is very kind. Expect a 20-25 minute wait for your food so call ahead. I will be back for the same meal but I would love to try their yams. This portion size was perfect for 1 person. There is minimal parking so I parked at the gas station. The food was perfect for a meal before work.

The…read moreinterior has been remodeled and looks great, love the dark layout and the huge dining room, however the food remains touch and go. Certain dishes are great, others not. Got a huge bread basket that looked empty, when peering in, two small pieces of stale french bread smothered in Saran wrap were visible. Shame all that wasted space. C'mon Gumbo. Don't skimp on the bread. Serve it fresh too! During past dining experiences, the fried shrimp and hushpuppies were much larger. During this visit they were midget sized, like they were "cooking to a price point". That said, Gumbo's always excelled at frying and they tasted great. The fried catfish was dredged in cornmeal and flour. It tasted as good as catfish can taste, considering slimy-stank taste is natural to a bottom feeder and next to impossible to cook out. If you like catfish, gather up a chair, you're in the right place. The gumbo was watery with small dices of sausage and more midget shrimp. The broth had little taste. Mediocre gumbo is a misdemeanor violation. I wrote Gumbo's a ticket on that one. The cajun pasta was very good. In the old days they used bowtie pasta in a thick creamy sauce smacked with Cajun decadence and big ole' shrimps. Today they used penne (not a big deal, but it cheapens the dish) in a disappointly watery sauce with a few midget shrimp. It still tasted good but it quite clear at this point Gumbo's was cooking to a price point. The STAR OF THE SHOW was the shrimp crawfish etouffee. Wow! Thick, creamy, rich gravy with a heavenly base of toasted roux having notes of roasted peanut. They got that one right, midget shrimps and all. I want another bowl NOW! DIATRIBE ALERT: Service wasn't terrible but far from exceptional. The new generation of wait staff expects big tips for mediocre service, like we should should be honored by their presence. I always tip large despite my general grumpiness. Problem is, tipping culture has gotten out of hand. It's become a bottomless pit of greed. Front and back staff with their hands out perpetually. Cash registers programmed to induce tip guilt. Dirty looks for not tipping a carry-out order. CARRY-OUT RULES: If I don't sit down to eat, I ain't tipping your ass. Go back to Nursing School or something like that. Why should the customer pick up the slack for an industry refusing to pay employees a decent wage? SUMMARY: Love the vibe. Like the food. Gumbo's was clearly cooking to a price point. Midget shrimp? Sacriledge. New Orleans ain't like that.

They both tasted like they were made in house and not from frozen. I would order these again any day. I also tried the shrimp po boy. The flavors were good, but the sandwich only had 6 shrimp. As I walked along Main Street, I happened to come across one of my favorite restaurants, Mount Clemens Grill. I walked in and notified my waitress that I did not have a reservation. With a pleasant smile, she acted as if it wasn't any kind of problem and offered to let me sit wherever I wanted. This was the beginning of a great dining experience! Once I was seated, a menu was offered and my drink selected. When she brought my drink ($2.50 hot tea, with sliced lemon and a bit of honey), I requested a $12 Farmer's Omelette, with rye toast. With Motown favorites playing in the back ground and a nice view of the activities outside, it was a peaceful wait until my order arrived. Now, I enjoy eating out, and when I do, I like to order satisfying meals. Well, this certainly 'fit the bill' and I devoured my omelette with vigor. The only alteration I made was adding some salt and pepper, and a little hot sauce to satisfy my tongue. I was able to maintain my status as a member of the Clean Plate Club®. My waitress was very nice and treated me like I was the only customer in the restaurant! She checked up on me once and found everything to be in order. She dropped off the bill and after the Governor got her cut, the total was $15.36. As I like to do with all small dining establishments, I paid with cash and left a decent tip. I always have a pleasant dining experience here. You will too!
