URGENT WARNING. Lapels STOLE my designer dress that I wore the night before my own wedding. Thanh Tran, the franchise owner, is a truly horrible person and giving him/Lapels your business, you personal property, could very well end BADLY. I'm a lawyer and proud member of the Boston community for nearly 6 years, I love this community, and I want to protect others from experiencing what I experienced. FULL DETAILS BELOW. On July 20, 2024, I bought a Rodarte dress, a designer dress, for $2,932.19, inclusive of sales tax and shipping. I wore this special/sentimental dress for one evening only the night before my own wedding. On October 31, 2024, I brought my dress in perfect condition to the Lapels Boston (Fenway), MA location at 152 Brookline Avenue to be dry cleaned (the "Fenway location"). Order # for this is 10-010876. While being dry cleaned, the dress was negligently irreparably damaged, including by shredding the ends of two bows on the dress. The dress was returned to me as if nothing happened. On November 9, 2024, my lawyer and I told David Grippi (COO at Clean Brands) about the irreparably damaged dress and he put us in contact with Thanh Tran, the franchise owner of the Fenway location. On November 22, 2024, Thanh said he would have to take the dress back to their cleaning facility/go over it with the cleaning crew. On Monday, December 2, 2024, I complied and dropped off my dress with Thanh and I've never seen the dress again. On December 7, 2024, in writing, Thanh said he spoke with his crew and explicitly admitted fault (admitted the dress was damaged in the machine during the cleaning cycle) and said he would replace the dress. Thanh has since taken my dress and ceased any and all communications with my lawyer and I, despite us following up at least 5 times. We also tried following up with David Grippi. My dress has been stolen and no amends have been made for ruining the dress. read more

Somewhat expensive but the service and quality are worth it. Pick up and delivery service work really well. The true mark of a business is how they handle a problem. A jacket was pressed badly with placket and fold marks showing through the opposite side. We took it to the shop and the manager acknowledged the problem and said they'd try to fix it. He called back to say they couldn't fix it but would replace the jacket at no cost to us, and tailor the sleeves as they had been on the original jacket. This place SAVED my wedding dress last minute! I realized less than 2 weeks away from my wedding that my dress was too long, and this was the only place near me in Boston that could do it in time and with an affordable price. The owner also kindly put a rush on the hemming service (with no extra charge!) in case I needed to get it further altered before my wedding date. Called on the phone to make sure they're open and also do a price check. I explained the coat very well, told her it was a long winter coat down to my ankles, black, with no stains, and that it was the standard puffy jacket material. She quoted me, and when I brought it into the shop she told me it was long, so will cost more than the $35 she literally just quoted me. And I just had spoken with her 15 minutes prior and told her it was down to my ankles? I also requested that they please be sure to clean the part that zips by my face as though it doesn't look dirty, I wear it after the gym and wanted to get rid of any sweat residue. This particular Lapel's location is the best out of all of them. I believe she's the owner, who is (also) named Annie, runs the shop like no one's business. She's quick, she gets the job done for you, and she also explains things really well such as pricing and timing of getting your items back. All of my dry clean items come back perfect. I have loads of cashmere and items that are "dry clean only" and they get my clean items back to me in record time. If you go and ask to get items tailored, Annie will walk you though the process, take measurements-- it's so nice and easy! She's the BEST! This Lapel's also delivers right to your apartment building if you live nearby. Annie and Lapel's has made my life so much easier by making laundry and dry cleaning no longer a hassle for me. read more

OK, so it seems the glamour of living in Boston sometimes is mixed in with the necessities of life, but the first to review was to hard to pass up. I work in Longwood and could not believe that there is not a closer dry cleaner listed on Yelp yet. I walked by here last week and it was recommended by a co-worker. Location is great, right next to Shaws, Fenway Fruit Stand, Bed Bath and Beyond, all my necessities. The staff is friendly. I will update once I start using them more. Do not bring anything expensive here. It is fine for dry cleaning cheap day to day stuff. I come here a lot bc unfortunately it's the most convenient for me and I'm too busy to go elsewhere at the time (I will be switching once my schedule improves). I have had 3 bad experiences now, not 1. First, I brought in a shirt for dry cleaning and pointed out a stain, which was maybe 5-6 mm large. When I got the shirt back, there was a huge discoloration over my old stain that spanned an area of 8-9 inches. Not sure what kind of solution they use, but it is not subtle and they should of fixed it before giving it back to me. Next, I brought in a pair of pants to be pressed. When i got it back, it was wrinkle free, but had some kind of pattern imprinted onto it!!!! As in there was an indentation in my pants. Lastly, I brought in a dress for tailoring, and they completely messed it up. I don't even know how to explain it. It's not even, and it's obvious it got in the hands of an inexperienced tailor. Btw, all of the above items were brand new pieces of clothing that I've never worn. And now they are ruined, and I can't wear or return any of them. I live right around the corner from this place, so when I was searching for dry cleaners in the area, I thought it was too good to be true. So far, I've brought several items here to be dry cleaned and repaired (i.e. replacing a broken zipper on my favorite pair of jeans), and they've done a great job every time. Best of all, I can TRUST them! I brought in a bridesmaid dress to be altered, and they told me they couldn't alter it properly once I told showed them the fabric blend, sending me to another vendor. They're not willing to sacrifice their reputation or quality of work for a couple of extra dollars, and I really appreciate that. They're also extremely friendly. It's not cheap, but it's not horribly expensive either, and caring for your high-end items is not something to skimp on. read more

This pertains to the Kingston, MA store, but I know owner owns several, so buyer beware. My wool comforter was ruined by Lapels Dry Cleaner. They even asked what material it was and I said wool. Dry cleaning 101 on how to handle. They shrunk the king comforter to about a full size with cover all bunched around it. Useless. I contacted owner, she said maybe it could be fixed and to bring it back. Well, no, actually, a shrunk wool comforter becomes FELT. As a felter, I take loose wool and agitate it with hot water and soap and voila--it becomes felt--a sold sheet, made because the rough fibers of the wool become fused together. I even contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) who contacted her, but she didn't reply. So I'm out for the cleaning and the new comforter I had to buy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

VERY EXPENSIVE. I was going to take 2 pairs of shoes here to repair and they said it would be $50 to repair the sole and would take 2-3 weeks...although I just needed the heel. Glad I asked before I left. Dry cleaning is expensive as well...there is a cheap and great place around the corner on beacon called laundry basket or something, I'd rec. making the trek. read more

I've had my share of bad experiences with dry cleaners, so I'd delayed getting some of my favorite items washed because I hadn't found a place in Boston that I trusted (I'm a college student, so I typically just go home). With several important interviews coming up, I had to pull it together and go to the dry cleaners. I've tried several other dry cleaners in the area and had items lost or ripped, so I was apprehensive about this place. I brought six of my very favorite dry-clean-only pieces (three blazers, a silk blouse, a pair of suit pants, and a wool dress) to Lapel's. Not only were they very friendly, but I picked up all of the items and found them to be in great condition! They seemed to have spent time carefully looking at each of my garments. I was extremely pleased and no longer have to fear the dry cleaners! I've already started recommending them to my friends, and I thought I should share this positive experience on Yelp. Bottom line: if you're like me and have had some pretty negative dry-cleaning experiences in the past, give this place a shot. I was really glad I did. read more

This wonderful person name Cyn had overheard me in star market talking about I need to get my suit cleaned and introduced this place to me. Thanks to her I had a wonderful experience. The customer service was out of this world. They are really nice. I felt at home. They handled my clothes with care. I was in Boston on business and my hotel sent my clothes to Lapels for cleaning. I was so shocked when I got them back. My pants that have always been stiff and a little heavy were soft and light. I have been getting tired of the traditional dry cleaning that forces me to let my clothes air out for a couple days before wearing them, and bringing home that nasty smell. I wish I had a Lapels near me in California! This experience has made me realize there are better cleaning solutions out there. read more

I am very torn on what to write here. I will say I have been here a couple of times because it is very close to where I work. First off they do a great job. I have had pants tailored and dry cleaned and they really did a super job. Recently I got a skirt hemmed. Nothing fancy, a part of the hem fell so I needed it resewed. They charged me $16 and $6 to dry clean it. I just find that $22 for something that was not complex is way to high. They did a great job on the hem but I just cannot wrap my head around the expense...I guess when you go there confirm the price before because they do a nice job. I will try again and see price wise what happens. read more

I've had a couple items dry cleaned here, including a designer dress and a men's sport coat. They did a good job, the location is very convenient to where I work, and their hours are fantastic. I know a few people who wrote previous reviews have complained about price, but they've seemed very comparable to a couple other dry cleaners I've been to in the Boston area. To get the sport coat cleaned was $8 and turnaround time was two days (they also have a rush option if needed). That seemed on par with other places I've gone. read more

i'm not sure how to review dry cleaning places, as this is the first i've ever gone to. but the people are friendly, helpful, and nice -- they even called me to ask if i wanted the hole in my blazer pocket stitched up after i dropped it off. unfortunately, the hemming would have cost me about $6, and this poor graduate student would rather spend that on the chipotle next door. unfortunately, they don't have student discount :( in the end though, my jacket cost me about $8 to wash, which is better than what i expected for their fancy place. read more

I brought 3 sweaters and 8 pair of pants, when i brought them i told the lady (Manager) please be careful with specific sweater ( it is very very expensive over $450) i went to pick it up the sweater was in hangers and it was all shaped on the shoulder from the hanger, others sweaters were not even touched not cleaned. The customer service didn't care about my complaining. I asked her to gave me my money back and she didn't want to do that. I called the bank to dispute the charges. My point is $37 that i paid for the service they never did is not bothering me, what is bothering me is the manager she didn't responsible not cleaning my clothes and she didn't even care to listen at me. The people who work there are very friendly, and they do a great job hemming pants. However, I brought 5 pairs of pants to be dry cleaned, and they came back really stretched out and don't fit well anymore. I also have to resew 2 buttons which are now loose. Had high hopes for a decent cleaners to use over the summer while here out of state for a job, but got screwed over instead. Brought men's oxford and slacks in Tues eve for pickup on Thurs morn as soon as they open at 7am (they promised me it would be ready - I'm a server and this is my uniform and needed it immediately so I can be at work by 8am). Long story short, they did "not know" where my stuff was, I lost a day at work cause my boss isn't into excuses, and have an embarrassing situation my second day on the job. On top of that the counter guy called me a liar by saying "IF" I'd requested it for pickup (which I was explicit about my needs to the girl I dropped it off to) it would have been ready... My clothes were brand new in the package and only needed pressed, not washed but for some reason two days wasn't enough to get it done. Because I thought I was going to get the same service I get everywhere else in the country, I brought two more brand new oxfords in yesterday to be picked up on this coming Friday morning immediately after 7am to use for that day. I was told this morning that those too, would not be ready. I may have lost my job today because I look like a flake who can't handle his own laundry let alone the store's business. An hour and half too late, Lapels calls me to state my shirts were "in a basket with 600 other shirts"... Wait a minute - my shirts were brand new and only needed pressed - what are they doing in a basket with 600 other shirts? I'm 43 years old and have been using dry cleaning since I was a teen. I've never not been able to pick up my stuff when it was promised. I'm not doing business with Lapels ever again. read more
