Stopped by for breakfast tacos and overall the food was really good. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. One thing I especially liked was the salsa, it actually had some real spice to it instead of tasting watered down like a lot of places do. It added a lot to the meal and was probably one of the highlights for me. The tortillas tasted fresh, as they are handmade. You can tell the kitchen knows what they're doing when it comes to the food itself. The only thing that took away from the experience was the customer service at the counter. The person taking payment wasn't very welcoming and came across a little cold or uninterested. A friendlier attitude would make the overall experience a lot better, especially since the food itself is worth coming back for. If you want real-deal, authentic comfort food, this is the definitive spot. I have been coming here for more than 15 years now and the quality and service have been consistent the entire time. Their taco (especially the spicy one) are super flavorful and absolutely delicious. They generously stuff these tacos, so you really get what you paid for. The place can get very busy during lunch time where the line can wrap around the building, but it moves quick and definitely worth the wait. Once inside, it's cafeteria-style ordering. This is a really authentic place, and I like the aesthetic, especially inside because they have funny signs up like "Yankees suck" or "go to the second floor to report problems" when they don't have a second floor. The service was pretty fast, and the food is served really fresh and hot. I appreciated all this, but the food itself felt like I could've just made it at home myself, especially the chorizo and eggs taco. The barbacoa taco was really tender, which I liked, but after going to really Americanized restaurants where tacos have so many toppings and sauces, this didn't feel as flavorful to me. The portion sizes were fine though for $3 ish per taco - I felt like it was two of the $1.50 tacos you get from a taco truck put together. Food: my go to are bacon and egg, Mexican sausage, fajita with yellow cheese and many more. Everything is made fresh and is top notch! The best tacos in the city. I stopped by Laredo Taqueria and ordered the barbacoa, and wow -- the food itself was absolutely delicious and fresh. The meat was tender, flavorful, and everything tasted like it had just been made. You can definitely tell why this place is always busy. One thing that was disappointing, though, is that they charge extra for cilantro and onions. That felt a little unnecessary since those are usually standard toppings at most taquerias. Also, you have to pay for chips and salsa, and the salsa portion was pretty small -- the container was only about 1/4 full, which was frustrating. On the bright side, we showed up when there wasn't a long line wrapped around the building (huge plus!), so the experience felt smooth and relaxed. The aguas frescas were really good too -- refreshing and not overly sweet. The large size is big enough for two people to share, and I believe refills are about $2 more, which isn't bad. Overall, despite a couple small pricing annoyances, the food quality makes up for it. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I'd definitely go back -- just prepared for the add-ons. read more

Really a 2.5 star situation. The tacos here are good, not amazing. Been coming here for several years, I like the home made tortillas and usually things are fresh. The green salsa is perfect! There's always a line wrapped around the door which honestly reflects the loyalty to this place rather than the quality of the tacos. IMO. The thing I don't like and that other reviews reflect as well is that the people making the tacos are rude. They want you in and out, and you better not ask any questions/ request extra etc. lol. This is reflected in silly/funny signs all over the restaurant. Basically- you get what you get and you'll like it. And if you don't, we don't care. There is a charm and level of self respect to a place that is very streamlined with their food. However, the attitudes can be off putting and are definitely a reason for me not visiting more often. My friend and fellow yelper recommended stopping here for breakfast tacos, and I'm so glad I joined her. Often there can be a line out the door on weekends, but we were early enough (~9am on a Saturday) that we only had a few patrons ahead of us in line and everyone could wait inside the dining area. Service is quick with a walk up order process. I tried the egg/chorizo and nopales tacos. Both tacos had a spread of refried beans inside also. Flour tortillas are the default, but you can request corn tortillas. The filling was generous. People behind us in line raved about the spicy sausage taco. Seems like a place where you can't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. To go orders come packaged with napkins and salsas, or when you dine in someone will bring salsas to your table. Ran into a local the other day and he recommended I try out this place, the food recs were on point. He did warn me about being prepared to wait in line, because no matter what time of day you go there'll likely be a line wrapped around the building. He wasn't playing, I knew I was in the right spot as soon as I pulled up because there was indeed a line wrapped around the building. The wait was worth it though! This is an authentic no frills type of joint. You go there for the food and leave happy because the quality of food you get plus their large portions makes this the real super value choice. I highly recommend their barbacoa tacos, so juicy, so flavorful. Their salsa is actually spicy, so be sure to taste test it before you dunk it all in! The staff is so nice and there's always a line but it moves quickly. On to the tacos, fresh handmade tortillas, a big variety of tacos (try to get there by 10am, this is around the time they start to run out), they're so big, you may not need more than 2 or 3! The tacos here are very good. However, I am giving one star because of my experience with the lady making my taco today. The two Mexican people in front of me received large portions of meat with their tacos. (Barbacoa and Fajita). Mine was literally half the portions they received and I ordered the same tacos. I also speak some Spanish and know they did not order a super size or extra meat with their order. I just got screwed by the lady who wanted to skimp out on my tacos. To be fair, it's not like that all of the time there-I have received the proper portion on other occasions and I know the portion to expect, but you may get a particular server on a particular day who does not like Asians. Some Mexicans look down on Asians. That is just a reality. I left still hungry and felt sad. This review is just an FYI for the Asians who love tacos and will give this place business. This is now my new favorite place for this elixir of immortality, not only because it is delicious, served with all the right garnish, but that it comes in a Chinese bowl. Not sure if the owners know how poignant this is, but that symbolizes the salad bowl that is Houston. Not a melting pot where ingredients lose their identity but a salad bowl where each thing stands on its own but adds to each other. I had time on my hands Saturday after dropping my son off for coding camp. Glad I finally dropped on after years of wanting to. We were there at about 915am and the line was out of the building long. Took less than 30 minutes to reach the front. Worth it. The food is absolutely delicious. Fresh made tortillas? Yes!!! So the woman behind the steam table asked if I wanted beans on my taco. I said no, but she started making one before she realized it, caught herself, set it aside and I said go ahead and give it to me. I should have had them all that way. The frijoles were a nice binder for the taco, delicious in itself (clearly made with lard as the best frijoles typically are) and wonderful with the filling, especially the chicharrones, where it balanced some of the heat. They have one of the biggest selections of aguas fresca that I have encountered lately. Also had the menudo, which was also great, particularly during this cool weather morning. Most folks got their food to go as seating inside is sparse, but we managed to snag a spot anyway and having the food freshly made seemed ideal. Would definitely go back. read more

I had been away too long but I love how this place never changes. My friend at the register, the ladies on the floor and on the line never change, unlike the exterior paint colors (iykyk). But the breakfast tacos here are just beyond. The homemade flour tortillas are always the perfect thickness and density and have a flavor that only mi madre and abuelitas could make . I stick to my faves - barbacoa which is plentiful in the taco with very little fat and none of the "chunks" of fat you can get in barbacoa at other places. Potatoes and egg - so good.
