My aging Saturn has had a number of issues over the years, most recently a loss of power and running really rough at 500rpm. Since it's a 2003, it's pretty much time to spend money on parts (things eventually wear out). Managed to limp it here after work (only a few blocks from home, so a local mechanic is a bonus). Since he was backed up and the 4th of July weekend was upon us, he told me it'd be 4-5 days. Also told him that my windows don't work (actually haven't worked in years and the clowns at Martin Chevrolet told me it'd be $900 for a new body control module, then charged me $100 for the diagnostic) and to check the rear breaks. Five days later, got a call, was told it's running fine and he spent a few hours to fix the windows. Electrical repairs can be a nightmare, so that amount of time was expected. The culprit? Five broken wires. Friggin' service asshats at Martin wanted to replace and program an expensive component (and they wonder why people hate dealership service techs, what a surprise). He couldn't figure out about the loss of power as it ran fine for him. So just north of $400 for a rewire and new rear brakes. Ran fine for a couple days, acted up again. Had him run a diagnostic and got the dreaded P0330 (IIRC) code: random misfire. He suggested I replace the spark plugs and see what happens. Did that, still ran bad. A few hours of research and technical expertise from my brother, a trip to O'Reiley's for a coil pack and module and it's fine now (other than a check engine light...might be an O2 sensor). Just a long wait due to his backlog (it's just him and an assistant, real Mom-n-Pop operation here) and the 4th of July holiday. read more

I went to Larry's Auto Shop December 2017 after taking my Acura to the dealership to get my brakes replaced and was given a list of additional repairs I needed done. To save money, I was recommended Larry's shop by a friend. I took my car in and let him know that I was having an issue when braking that my steering wheel shook. I wanted to make sure my car was safe to drive & gave him the list of repairs from the Acura dealership. He recommended I get the serpentine belt replaced as both the dealership and him recommended it and was told by Larry that this may resolve my issue since I just had the brakes replaced and my roaters were good. Great, I get it fixed and for about 2 weeks the issue was gone. Then, I'm driving my car and go to brake and again the steering wheel starts to shake. I wait to see if the problem persists and it does. I call Larry's Auto Shop back and let them know that the problem I was having prior to his work is back again & asked if I could bring my car in. He was booked a week out so 2 weeks later I make it in to see him. I was greeted by the manager Jackie with poor customer service, scalding me how I was late to my appointment (because I was in the ER all night I arrived 30 mins late!) I had no problem waiting for my car but she insisted I should have arrived earlier or come another day. The whole time I was there waiting Jackie complained at her employees regarding their work duties & to her employees about personal life issues and work related issues clearly enough for any customer to hear. Talk about a bad attitude! That is extremely unprofessional for the manager to talk poorly about clients and other customers. One Stop Auto Parts in particular was a topic of conversation, how she was making it a point to let her staff know not to pay any invoices for anything until THEY decide to send her an invoice to match the stack of outstanding invoices she currently has due. I endured over an hour of Jackie complaining about the USPS, Amazon, customers, clients, her daughter, and personal life nagging and complaining to her staff. After listening to all this, Larry approaches me and asks me what brings me in today. For some reason there was a misunderstanding as to why he thought I was there and he told me he could not help me to take my car to the dealership since they did my brakes. Okay, will do. But Larry then argued with me that he never told me replacing the serpentine belt would fix my issue and asked for proof of what he said because he nor anyone in his office could recall what he told me. I am a very honest & good person & I expect the same in return. I do not record my conversations but maybe I should start. I never questioned needing my belt replaced and was fine paying for it since it needed to be done. My main complaint ***why did you not tell me to take my car back to the dealership in December 2017 for them to re-look at my car???*** I've wasted time and money now. I even asked his professional opinion as to what he thought may be causing the issue and was told "I cannot tell you that since it wasn't my work but I can fix it for you". Wow that doesn't really make much sense. It's so hard to come by decent polite businesses now a days. But the icing on the cake is the manager. Not only have I personally witnessed her lack of customer service, I've also heard from other customers about her poor personality. She is always in a crappy mood, looks upset, and makes it apparent that she does not enjoy her job. And on top of that, the great staff members at Larry's Auto Shop have all quit because of this! read more

I emeditly start reading a bunch of great reviews and agree to leave the truck here to be repaired. Hubby speaks to a Larry , on the phone within a few hours and it turned out to be a fuel pump issue. Larry knew the circumstances we were in and could of chosen to "gouge him.... but he DEFINITELY DIDN'T! He gave a VERY fair quote and it was finished by the end of business that day!!!!! Our employee Glen , informs my hubby that the truck is running great. My job is to make sure that our profits are being used wisely... So we came to the conclusion to continue bringing the truck here for simple maintenance and if Larry, makes any recommendations on any major repairs, I would be 100% confident that he's looking after our best interest. I call them after not recieving a call and they reply "huh i guess it has been 2 hours, give me 15 minutes" then they call me in 30 minutes to tell me they were "charting untreaded waters" and could not give me an estimate. I met Larry when I was getting my truck smogged. The smog tech said I had a vacuum leak and I asked Larry about it and he said to bring it by and he would look at it. I said ok and went on my way. This last Saturday I was leaving to work at 3:30 am. My truck stalled out and would not turn over. I called a towing service and asked to be towed to Larry's. I left a note for him to call me. He was a little stressed because he had asphalt guys redoing his parking lot that he didn't know was going to happen that early. He had me move my truck so we rolled it to the curb. He called me later and explained to me that he thought it was my fuel pump and he would not be able to get to it until Monday. I said "that's fine and do what you have to do", he also gave me the estimate and I almost choked on it. He said he would work with me on it. I went back home feeling bummed out. Less than an hour later, he called and gave me good news. It wasn't my fuel pump but the power wire to the pump was damaged from my exhaust manifold and he was able to fix it on Saturday before he closed. I was able to get my truck back on Saturday at a price I could live with. He helped me out so much that I will bring my cars to him now instead of the shop I was going to. He called me today and asked if I could check underneath my truck to see if he left his magnetic flashlight. I went out to look and sure as anything it was there. I will be returning that to him gladly. He had a chance to take advantage of me but he chose not to as well as treated me with respect and a smile.
