Solid bacon cheeseburger. Onion rings were tasty also. Husband got the fries. Have not yet had the chicken. Was our first time there. A little bit of wait however food was warm and freshly made. The absolute worst restaurant we have been to in the valley. The burger was so dry we ended up throwing it away after 2 bites. And the chicken was literally dripping grease. Their fries are bomb though, so maybe that's the only thing worth going here for. Also, we got a bacon cheese burger and it literally had 1 piece of bacon about 3 inches long. I'm being generous giving this place 3 stars, the waitress was very sweet and kind. The burger was good typical small diner burger, really juicy and tasty. Fries were decent. But the issue for not five stars is the sad excuse for chicken strips. Absolutely no flavor. I've had better chicken at three in the morning at a gas station that's been there since 5. One piece of fish was unrecognizable just a big gob of thick breading that looked like fish was stuck together with it on inside... Instead of nice tray on window and food in baskets handed a paper bag. So went to Costco parking lot to eat. The $20 meal was so bad almost took back - noticed not given a ticket. The staff was super friendly but the food was awful. We had heard great things from people who use to come here back in the day so we were looking forward to this. My husband opted for the chicken strips and they were rubbery and bland. The bbq sauce was watered down. The fries look nothing like what we have seen in other reviews and they weren't that great. I opted for the cheese burger and it was not anything to write home about. It wasn't cooked all the way through and it seemed to be low quality meat. LOBSTER ROLL?? When I called in my chicken and burger order, the pleasant voice on the other end said, "Thanks for calling Larry's - would you like to try our new Lobster Roll?" Lobster Roll in Wenatchee?? I had to give it a try. It exceeded my expectations - and just $12. Our youngest daughter lives in Boston so we know what a great Lobster Roll is like. This one came pretty close. The lobster mixture was well flavored and had pretty good texture (langostino?). The roll was fresh but unlike the East Coast version, it was sliced all the way through so it was nearly impossible to keep the lobster mixture from escaping roll. Was in the area for a rave about a month ago and wanted something quick but unique to the area to eat. This popped up so my buddy and I decided lets try it! Was not disappointed in the slightest despite what a lot of these reviews say. It was a very fresh, good size, cooked to perfection burger! And the price? Very reasonable considering this is a hole in the wall. Not fancy or gourmet in the slightest but thats not what this place is about. I grew up in Wenatchee and my family would pick up Larry's boneless chicken every Friday night. It was my absolute favorite food. Their chicken is moist, perfectly fried and absolutely delicious. My favorite thing to order is a five piece mixed (dark meat) chicken dinner with fries and tartar sauce. Also a go-to is the swamp water. Anyway, I now live in South Texas so am far, far away from Larry's chicken, but still dream about it. My son even wrote to the owner asking if he would share his recipe with us - his plan was to give it to me as a Christmas present! Our very first time trying Larry's Drive in! We will return! The original chicken and fries (5pc) was enough for 2 of us to share and still have leftovers. We also ordered a chicken burger, chicken nuggets and fries and onion rings. Perfectly breaded and cooked. My kids said the fry sauce was a new one and really enjoyed the flavors. Make sure you get extra tartar. Fries appear to be whole cut fresh cut taters. crispy outside, firm tater flesh inside. Definitely one of my favs. No added salt, you need to do that yourself. Chicken is simply fresh chicken goodness, gently wrapped in a simple crispy (never soggy) breading of corn meal and flour. No seasoning to speak of, but it's chicken...if you want seasoning, then go eat seasoning... dont order glorious chicken. It's all about the oil... I think. The fries and Yard Bird seem to be devoid of all oil and greasyness. WTF? Is this some sort of dark magic??? We have asked before, but they seem reluctant to divulge such secrets. Friday night, 9.24.2021. We really love Larry's onion rings. Tonight we ordered those, fish, and also a burger with no Mayo. We got home and the fried food was really soggy. The breading was still uncooked inside. We waited quite a while for the order, but would have been happy to wait longer for properly cooked food. Right now we're trying to salvage them by cooking them in our oven . Hopefully they will make sure this gets corrected because we really like Larry's and hope the quality will be consistent. New owners so thought I would give another try. Got the chicken strips. Added salt and tarter and was delish. Last owners it was thick and undercooked. Now it's back to the original recipe. You know I don't like to give out 5 stars unless it's really exceptional but Larry's makes the grade when it comes to old school family drive-in. As Drive In's go, this one is as traditional as it gets. I pull up and by the time I opened my door thinking I'd have to order at a window, a very nice gal comes up and has my order taken like that. (Kudos too, their menu is easy to see and read from your car.) You can tell this is one of those family run kind of places because everyone seems to really care about the business and the customer. Very clean, well maintained, the place just pops with that kind of pride you'd want to see in a small business. Food. Excellent. Fries, perfect. Burger, flavorful and gooey with cheese just like I like it. Boneless fried chicken was a suprise. For the price, it's a good size hunk of chicken and full of flavor, juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside. And who doesn't love Wenatchee. Placed an order over the phone tonight 2 orders of all white meat 5 PCchicken only and 2 corn dogs. When they brought my orders to me, it was $32 how can this be, corn dogs are $5.29 each as I saw they were $2.49. The girl says were charge a lot for our hot dogs. Boneless chicken has been under cooked more than once and recently the breading falls off the boneless chicken while it's in the take home box. This little drive-in only restaurant is the jewel of East Wenatchee. From the coleslaw (which I swear is the only coleslaw I'll eat) to the tarter sauce, Larry's continues to bring in the customers night after night. Know before you go: 1. You can designate light or dark meat chicken. I prefer the light, my sister prefers dark - just that they customize this is a winner for me. 2. Plan to roll down your windows and eat in your car. It's part of the experience and always reminds me of my mom being a carhop when she was in high school. It's part of the experience, go with it. 3. Call your order in ahead of time. Always nice to have your food waiting for you. Although I remember fondly family time sitting in the car at Larry's making up games to pass the time. 4. This chicken is HOT out of the fryer. I always like to tear mine in two right off the bat to minimize wait to getting that fresh yummy chicken into my mouth. 5. If you can, take cash and tip well. Larry's is a great employer that has been teaching hard work to the next generation for years. Been going since I was a kid i enjoy the food most of the time but im turned off about no one handling the food wearing gloves, watching a guy wipe his sweaty head then scooping fries into the box with his hand.
