Las Cambritas is a good local spot in Cambria for Mexican food. I have been here on 2 separate occasions trying both the burrito and chicken quesadilla. While they were both good, there is nothing exceptional about them. They give you chips and salsa for the table which is nice but the chips just kind tasted store bought to me. We were sat right away both times and the inside was very nice. Most of the staff were pretty friendly and the food came relatively quickly. There is a bar with TVs above if you want to watch sports. On a road trip and we stop in Cambria to eat lunch. Wanted to support the Mexican community (being first generation ourselves) and saw this place. Ordered the chile rellano with beef and was extremely disappointed. It was a scrambled egg wrapped chili with cheese and meat. The salsa verde was watered down and the heavy cheddar cheese masked the half poblano chili. When I asked the waiter wha style he said it's Jalisco, and we corrected that because my husband is from there. This is not how to make a chili rellano. Needless to say I don't recommend this if you're looking for an authentic Mexican food restaurant. read more

The Los Cambritas or "Little Piece of Cambria" bills itself as "Mexican dining." It is on Main Street in Cambria along with all the other popular restaurants and shops. They have many of the staple dishes that American expect at a Mexican restaurant, i.e., tacos, taquitos, etc., but also some rarer dishes such as paella. On a Tuesday for lunch around 11:30, the service was very good and the restaurant did no start to get busier until about 12:00-12:30. It was mostly quiet to moderate noise level. We sat indoors, but being CA you could sit outdoors even in late Sept/early Oct as on our trip. We got the paella and the el bandito cocktail. While neither is our favorite dish, we would try both again. The paella normally comes with clams, mussels, chorizo, and chicken, but we subbed fish for the clams and mussels without any complaint from the staff. As a nice surprise, the paella was mostly meat with a sufficient amount of rice, making the approximately $26 charge feel more worth your while. The paella was a little spicy due to the chorizo, but not overly so. The el bandito was a decent size for the $14. Not sure if you were supposed to, but we mixed up the separated liquors and juices that came from the bar in the cup. It was pretty potent with rum, tequila, vodka, and brandy together in one drink along with pineapple and orange juice. It tasted just ok. Overall, this was a nice dining experience. While not the most exciting or our favorite foods, we like everything good enough that we would try this place again, would order the things we got again, and would try them again, although we would probably try other menu items for variety on an tier visit. Overall, this place is worth a try if you want a nice sit down restaurant experience and feel like Mexican food while in the area. Free chips and salsa like many comparable places. read more

Cambria is a favorite getaway for me and my pup since it's so dog friendly. Las Cambritas has a nice outdoor patio where dogs are welcome. After ordering a margarita, we were served a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and crisp. The salsa was good but I prefer my salsa hot and spicy. We both ordered the carne asada plate which came with rice and beans and guacamole and a choice of tortillas (corn or flour). I went with corn tortillas. I asked for the carne to be medium, but it came out well done. It was decent, but I had much better carne asada. Service was friendly and attentive. Plenty of street parking in front. read more

Not your top notch Mexican restaurant but my husband and I still enjoyed it. The chips & salsa were ok, chips seemed store bought but the salsa was nice and chunky how I like it. I ordered a combo plate with that included a crispy shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada. The taco was delicious, nice & meaty! The enchilada was cheesy and I also liked the sauce. The beans were ok, but the rice was perfectly cooked and flavored. The Camarones a la Diabla definitely had a kick but it was still doable. Actually, the sauce was quite delightful and my husband nearly licked his plate. He would have appreciated pinto beans over black beans in his plate. The customer service was ok. While the waitress wasn't rude, a smile or a friendly conversation would have made us feel at home! All in all, it's worth a try read more

Food was a disappointing. I have gone to many Mexican restaurants and understand there is a level of appeal to different clients. I didn't feel as the food was authentic. I felt it was subsided for residence or people that travel there. I have had Mole enjoy mole dishes when I go to a Mexican restaurant this was my first time having to say I did not like it. It did not taste like mole. The food came out like warm and bland. My husband did order the Carnitas and he did enjoy the rice was very distasteful. The beans were OK. I would probably not go back. Underrated here, with quality and portions above and beyond anything in the price range nearby. Cambria has better food, but it can come at the expense of price (everywhere else, such as Black Cat), atmosphere/clientele (Linn's), and portions (Robin's). Here, the drinks are on point (such as the fuego verde), the portions are incredibly generous (especially the fajitas), and the chips are plentiful and salsa is fine. They don't offer much in the way of unique offerings, regional flavor, or hot spice, but in its own way, it's a relief from the other fufu choice in town. read more

I went in today around 3pm, and did not leave a happy consumer. The carnitas were quite tasty; the salsa, coffee, and service were appalling. Salsa and chips were brought to me immediately, but I had a long wait for an opportunity to place an order. I actually was about to leave without ordering when a waiter finally showed up. The salsa did not have much flavor, and what it had was bad. When the coffee I'd ordered arrived at my table, it appeared very dark. I added cream, which curdled immediately, telling me that it was well past its sell-bay date. The waiter brought a replacement cup, and -- eventually -- fresh cream. I poured almost the entire container of cream into my mug, and it was still dark. One swallow was I all I could stand. The coffee was basically ink. It was far from fresh. I would not be surprised to learn that it had been brewed yesterday and reheated. Each of the waiter's tasks, whether checking back with me after serving, or bringing my coffee...or the check, took much longer than it should have for the uncrowded condition of the restaurant. I have two serious favorite Mexican places in Cambria, where I live, and I will not be bothering to dine at Las Cambritas again. read more

Every time we visit Cambria, we like to have a meal at Las Cambritas; sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner. In 2020, we ate here twice. Once by ourselves and then again with another couple. So, after having driven 7.5 hours from NV, we decided to have a late lunch here. It was a Thursday and we arrived around 2:30 PM. Both meals were the worst food we've ever had at Las Cambritas. We didn't eat a lot of the food and left disappointed. Later, settled into our hotel room, I pulled up Las Cambritas on Yelp and found that, when we were here two years ago, our experience was so bad that we said it was our last visit. LOL! We're old and have killed off so many grey cells that we have horrible memories. But, once I read the review, I remembered. Two two-star visits in a row, I'm fairly certain that we will remember not to return again. I don't know if ownership, management or the chef changed but it hasn't been good for two years now. We love Las Cambritas! It's our new family spot every time we're in town. With 7 kids it's hard to find a suit down restaurant to handle our crew. The staff here is so kind, bringing coloring books and ample chips and drinks to keep everyone happy. The food is delicious and and the proportions are generous!! No complaints. This was a step up from most Mexican restaurants. The inside is well lit and decorated in old Mexico style. There is outdoor seating. There is a bar also. The service was timely and we were served chips and salsa right away. My husband and I decided to order one appetizer, the tostadas, and one entree, chicken fajitas. The tostadas were handmade and stuffed with filling. The order included two beef and two chicken tostadas. They were large and very tasty. The chicken fajitas included beans, rice, sour cream, and guacamole. We both ate as much as we could and took back to our motel enough for us both to have dinner. The waitress was pleasant and saw to all our needs. She gave us plenty of boxes for our leftovers and even went and got us plastic utensils for our dinner. Ok, I don't usually go back to a former negative spot. Again it was recommended as the best in town in a clothing shop. We ate inside, and service and food were fine. But the copper top tables were full of permanent rings from guests Maybe it's a style , not ours. So 3 years helped a little , but I think it's our last visit. This initially looked like a nice airy restaurant with patio seating. As soon as we were seated on the patio, it felt like we were forgotten. We were so thirsty and no one came to bring us water or take our drink order. Finally we received chips and salsa. The chips weren't worth eating and the salsa tasted like it had canned tomatoes, which was disappointing in mid-summer. That should have been our clue to leave. We were just so parched and hungry. A kind waitress took our order and we were pretty clear to request water and stated how thirsty we were. Still, water didn't appear. Finally someone went in to request water at the bar and finally someone brought us glasses of water which we promptly sucked down and didn't get refills until much later. When our food finally came out, it was not as good as a mediocre Mexican restaurant. My mussels in tequila were not balanced in flavor. My daughter complained that the cheese tasted off and then woke up with diarrhea. Three of our party got diarrhea. As the night wore on too long due to slow service, it got chilly and we asked them to turn on one of the three gas heaters by our table, but unfortunately all were out of gas. The best part of this night was that the staff were kind, but service was slow. One server kept running to the patio to vape. read more

As a San Diego native/resident and connoisseur of Mexican food, I went out on a limb and tried this place out. The restaurant itself is nice looking and spacious. Service was quite unremarkable and lackluster. Chips were very institutional tasting but that salsa was outstanding. Tasted fresh and house made with quite the kick. Definitely a stand out, that I can tell you. I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos and they were excellent! Just as good as SoCal. They were properly grilled in fresh corn tortillas and stacked with a generous amount of flavorful, tender beef birria and melty asadero cheese; plus onions and cilantro. We recently had a table for 10 and were barely greeted, and the staff literally threw the utensils and napkins down in the middle of the table. When getting a drink refill no one ever came around again so I had to go to the bar myself to have it taken care of. And also had to go to the bar again to get more lines for my drink after repeating my request. Never saw server except for first ask for drinks, order and then bill. Two different people and neither were friendly. Truly Awful customer service. While the entree food itself was good for my wife, my burrito had wrong meat put into it, the salsa seemed purchased like PACE salsa from a jar or something like that... definitely not homemade. My girlfriend and I have been going to Cambria for years and never tried this place. So yesterday we decided to give it a shot. I got the carnitas plate and she got the birria plate. Both were absolutely delicious!! The portions are pretty big too. Chips and salsa were fresh. The tortillas that came with both platters were fresh and home made. Our waiter Oscar was very friendly, recommended some of his favorites. We also had a Cadillac Margarita, which of course, was amazing. I'm so happy we tried this place out, and is now one of our MUST go to places when we come here! For context, I live in Los Angeles county and have tried MANY Mexican food restaurants. While staying in Cambria, we ordered food and margaritas from this place several times. They offer a really good tacos. It was so nice to also get a margarita to go with our dinners. The service at this restaurant was great! I loved the decor it was very homey. The food was alright. I got the bean and cheese nachos and the nachos had way too much cheese on them. I took literal handfuls of cheese off of them. The cheese wasn't very good quality either. My partner loved his meal i'm not sure what exactly he ordered as i'm writing this review a week later.
