On a road trip and we stop in Cambria to eat lunch. Wanted to support the Mexican community (being first generation ourselves) and saw this place. Ordered the chile rellano with beef and was extremely disappointed. It was a scrambled egg wrapped chili with cheese and meat. The salsa verde was watered down and the heavy cheddar cheese masked the half poblano chili. When I asked the waiter wha style he said it's Jalisco, and we corrected that because my husband is from there. This is not how to make a chili rellano. Needless to say I don't recommend this if you're looking for an authentic Mexican food restaurant.

The Los Cambritas or "Little Piece of Cambria" bills itself as "Mexican dining." It is on Main Street in Cambria along with all the other popular restaurants and shops. They have many of the staple dishes that American expect at a Mexican restaurant, i.e., tacos, taquitos, etc., but also some rarer dishes such as paella. On a Tuesday for lunch around 11:30, the service was very good and the restaurant did no start to get busier until about 12:00-12:30. It was mostly quiet to moderate noise level. We sat indoors, but being CA you could sit outdoors even in late Sept/early Oct as on our trip. We got the paella and the el bandito cocktail. While neither is our favorite dish, we would try both again. The paella normally comes with clams, mussels, chorizo, and chicken, but we subbed fish for the clams and mussels without any complaint from the staff. As a nice surprise, the paella was mostly meat with a sufficient amount of rice, making the approximately $26 charge feel more worth your while. The paella was a little spicy due to the chorizo, but not overly so. The el bandito was a decent size for the $14. Not sure if you were supposed to, but we mixed up the separated liquors and juices that came from the bar in the cup. It was pretty potent with rum, tequila, vodka, and brandy together in one drink along with pineapple and orange juice. It tasted just ok. Overall, this was a nice dining experience. While not the most exciting or our favorite foods, we like everything good enough that we would try this place again, would order the things we got again, and would try them again, although we would probably try other menu items for variety on an tier visit. Overall, this place is worth a try if you want a nice sit down restaurant experience and feel like Mexican food while in the area. Free chips and salsa like many comparable places.

Cambria is a favorite getaway for me and my pup since it's so dog friendly. Las Cambritas has a nice outdoor patio where dogs are welcome. After ordering a margarita, we were served a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and crisp. The salsa was good but I prefer my salsa hot and spicy. We both ordered the carne asada plate which came with rice and beans and guacamole and a choice of tortillas (corn or flour). I went with corn tortillas. I asked for the carne to be medium, but it came out well done. It was decent, but I had much better carne asada. Service was friendly and attentive. Plenty of street parking in front.

Not your top notch Mexican restaurant but my husband and I still enjoyed it. The chips & salsa were ok, chips seemed store bought but the salsa was nice and chunky how I like it. I ordered a combo plate with that included a crispy shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada. The taco was delicious, nice & meaty! The enchilada was cheesy and I also liked the sauce. The beans were ok, but the rice was perfectly cooked and flavored. The Camarones a la Diabla definitely had a kick but it was still doable. Actually, the sauce was quite delightful and my husband nearly licked his plate. He would have appreciated pinto beans over black beans in his plate. The customer service was ok. While the waitress wasn't rude, a smile or a friendly conversation would have made us feel at home! All in all, it's worth a try

Underrated here, with quality and portions above and beyond anything in the price range nearby. Cambria has better food, but it can come at the expense of price (everywhere else, such as Black Cat), atmosphere/clientele (Linn's), and portions (Robin's). Here, the drinks are on point (such as the fuego verde), the portions are incredibly generous (especially the fajitas), and the chips are plentiful and salsa is fine. They don't offer much in the way of unique offerings, regional flavor, or hot spice, but in its own way, it's a relief from the other fufu choice in town.

The service was friendly, fast and the place was very nice. Just look at how much chicken I got in the fajitas, I couldn't have asked for a better dish. The other orders were great as well. Would highly recommend. read more

Love this place. The good is delicious both classic and few modern twists on old favorites. If you are in the mood to eat vegetarian just substitute mushrooms for meat and create a yummy dish. They kept up all Covid regulations and it felt safe to eat outside with staff masked and tables separated. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Try the fajitas, lovely salads if you are eating light, or just have a drink and some appetizers. read more

maybe we got skunked but my wife and i each got wet BRC's and my burrito did not have cheese so i sent it back and they melted some on the top. the beans tasted like canned beans (rosarito's) and the rice was hard and dry. guy who sat us clearly did not like his job. you'll know the one. i can deal with marginal food since it seems to be typical in a tourist town. they know they will never see 95% of their guests. but when the bill came in at $48 for two wet BRC's and two cups of water i kind of had a hard time with that. that is really the only reason i am writing this review. i have bought better burritos at 7-11 for $3. the food was gross and way too expensive. then the stomach aches my wife and i got... i would never recommend a BRC from this place. the lady that served us was great though. read more

Waited several moments at the hostess stand waiting to be acknowledged. Then we were placed in a corner. We waited almost 15 minutes before someone came over. It just got worse from there. 45 minutes to get our order taken, then another 40 minutes waiting for our food to arrive. Nobody refilled our drinks, we had bean dip and quest that got cold waiting for more chips. Then the food was not great. I would not go back and world not recommend read more

I love Mexican food; often times my wife craves it. My wife enjoyed her lobster enchiladas a lot but I didn't really enjoy the Chile verde. It wasn't a great portion of pork and it was very mild with about 1/3 of the portion being onions. I want to give four stars but it's just not what I enjoy when it comes to Chile verde. In full disclosure, the service was great and my wife really did enjoy it. I'm basing my review on how I felt it scored. read more

Stayed a couple of days in Cambria. The wife and I had to try the local Mexican food. We showed up around 7 p.m. to find a line out the door. On vacation we weren't in a hurry so we waited it out. The Busboy was doing double duty as the host also. After about 15 to twenty minutes we were sat. My wife got the chicken burrito and I got the chicken fajitas. Both were huge and delicious. Came in for lunch on a beautiful Sunday. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and packed with people dancing and enjoying the band. Every Sunday live music 1-4pm. We found a seat inside by the window wjere it was a little quieter to enjoy music and conversation, and had very friendly service throughout our meal enjoying complimentary chips and salsa, and then added bean dip. At the table we ordered a bowl of chicken abondigas soup, flautas, and fajitas. Everything was full of flavor with very generous portions and prices ranging $6-16 for majority of lunch options. BLUF - Good food and margaritas. The prices were reasonable. Service was so so. Not sure why the neg reviews. Las Cumbritas was some of the best Mexican food north of the border. We ordered the carne asada plate with beans, rice, guacamole and tortillas. The carne asada was marinated, seasoned well, and char grilled. It came with grilled onions and jalapenos. Soooo delicious. We also ordered the chicken tostada. The shredded chicken was seasoned perfectly and was moist and full of flavor. It was topped with the usual lettuce, guacamole, and crema. Tough choice on my favorite, both plates were wonderful. Only a couple negatives though. The chips and salsa were average at best. They could do a better job on both. The flan for dessert was pretty average too. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and I will return on my next trip to the area. read more

Once a year my lovely wife and I visit Cambria for our anniversary, and a few years ago this pace became a regular stop. Excellent margaritas, and the carne asada is pretty spectacular. I'm including the margarita menu because nobody else has. The Bakerita is a personal fave! read more

Ok this place was very good. I have this thing that I order one specific dish in every Mexican restaurant when I travel. The Chile Verde was almost perfect. Tangy, extremely tender and delicious. I will give it my highest rating next to a good LA restaurant. I would say try it. My wife order the flautas and she also felt they were quite good. read more

This was my first time to Las Cambritas after a day at Hearst Castle. The food was delicious. The salsa that came with the free chips & salsa was really good-the salsa had a smokey flavor to it. We ordered the chicharrones ($12), chilaquiles ($18) & quesabirria tacos ($18) & it was all delicious. The chicharrones & quesabirria was off of their specials menu. We was a little disappointed by the chicharrones because we thought it was going to be the kind that had fried skin & meat on it with salsa, but it was just fried skin (like the fried pork rinds you can buy at the store) with a couple dipping sauces. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious & freshly fried just not what we expected. The server was polite, friendly & attentive. He did forget to bring us utensils & napkins when he brought us the chips & salsa & we had to ask for it when the food arrived. The quesabirria tacos & consomme was tasty. The chilaquilles came with some carnitas & it was all delectable. The place was clean. It wasn't super packed, but there were a decent amount of people in there & I found it to be a little loud. If I'm ever in the area, I would eat here again. But I would also like to try all the other restaurants to choose from in Cambria. read more

This restaurant has the worst Mexican food i ever had. Food had really no taste, very bland. I had two enchiladas with no flavor. My wife had tacos, she said only the shells were any good. Both rice and beans were almost cold. Please do not waste your money here!!! read more

This is a great casual place for dining in Cambria. The food is excellent-the carnitas platter was especially tasty-service was prompt and friendly. And the patio is a pleasant place to enjoy a good meal. We have dined here each time we have visited Cambria, and hope to do so again in the near future. read more

For a Mexican restaurant they should know how to make a proper Cadillac Margarita. I use to be a bartender, so I know how to pour drinks. The drink was too sour. I sent it back. My mother wanted one, so badly, she was willing to subject herself to the sour drink; unfortunately, she paid for it later. The sour margarita upset her stomach. The reasons why it was so terrible is: 1) Their sweet and sour mixer was too sour. 2) Every Cadillac margarita should have Grand Marnier added to to the top of the drink, also known as a float. It's done by the bartender or the customer, when a shot glass with the Grand Marnier is served along side the margarita. They didn't float the Grand Marnier. I don't think they put any in it, because I could not taste it or see it in the clear glass. As for the food, it was fine. I had worst and certainly had better. The price point for the food is what to be expected in a tourist town. read more

My family of 5 went in for dinner on (07/02/2023) let me start by saying, it took about 10 minutes for someone to actually acknowledge we were there, we were the only ones waiting at the front booth and there wasn't a lot of people.After we were seated the waitress took our drink and food order. We waiting for about 45 minutes , to the point we're my husband had to ask how much longer until our food was ready, mind me that in that period of time the waitress not ones came to asks if we needed refill in our drinks, also my husband had to ask if we were going to get chips just like everyone else did on arrival. I'm a very courteous person that likes to tip for good service and good food. But me just like everyone else work hard for my money and unless you deserve a tip or a good review you won't get one (sorry not sorry). Food was good but service sucks. read more

This review is not about the food. The food is good and portions are fair for the price. No complaints on the service, except perhaps they should hire more servers. We witnessed a woman fall from a broken chair in the restaurant. Thank goodness she was fine. What happened next was wrong. First, the manager did not show up to make sure the woman was safe. Second, the couple was presented with their bill. Wow, the whole section was stunned by management's handling of the situation and lack of compassion. read more

I do not eat seafood, therefore this review is based off of my group. My husband enjoyed the oysters stating they were fresh and sweet. My daughter loved the calamari. I was quite underwhelmed with the spicy tequila cream chicken pasta. I was told that the dish was very spicy. To me, there was barely a hint of heat to it. The flavors was lacking. I feel as if the sliced onions should be left out. Our friend ordered the cioppino and mentioned the same thing, the sliced onions made the dish taste a little off but otherwise delicious. The kids fusilli with Parmesan was ok. It was basically tossed in butter and she can add her own Parmesan. The rib eye came out medium well. We thought that maybe it was just the ends that were a bit more cooked, however, almost the entire steak was medium well. The only part that we didn't eat was looked to be medium. Although the steak was not cooked to our preferred temperature, it was very flavorful and tender. And we sure were hungry after a day of exploring. We ate nearly the entire plate. I didn't want to mention anything since we ate 90% of the plate, but our friend convinced us to bring it up to the server. And so I did, not wanting to anything to be done about it. We did nearly finish it. We also did not want to wait longer for the steak to be re-made. I paid for my tab and it was well under what I had expected the total to be. I scanned through the itemized receipt and realized that they took off the steak. I felt ashamed for even bringing it up since we basically ate it all. The cocktails were great. Not too watered down or too heavy with alcohol. The restaurant has an amazing view overlooking the Pacific Ocean and offers outdoor seating. The service is quick and everyone was very friendly. Will I came again? For sure. Just not for pasta.

The steamers of clams was divine . The wine broth was soothing. The salmon shrimp crab cake was good. The fish and carne asada tacos . were delicious Dessert we opted to molten lava cake. Erupted with sweetness. Overall, fantastic night.

That's the first thing you do when you pull something out of a fryer, you season it. The server was nice enough, but they have a thing now where if you ask for water, they want to sell you a bottle of water. I get that things are tough for restaurants, but I almost rather pay a little more for the sandwich and get water, if you know what I mean. I'm no food expert, or running a restaurant expert, these are just my reactions as a local who stops in here fairly regularly. I think if the folks who run this place feel like there's any value to my little thoughts, they would be easy to fix and wouldn't cost anything at all really. I've been coming here for years, and I want these folks to do well.

The burger patty had a mild gamey flavor which I think is due to the cow being grass-fed (correct me if I'm wrong). Staff were also very friendly. The owner himself came out to talk to us. The restaurant is located in a quaint, picturesque town. We enjoyed walking around to see the other shops afterward. The parking lot was small but we were able to find parking. We got there on a Monday around 2PM and waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated.

The best part was their ollieberry pie warmed with vanilla ice cream so yummy. First floor has bakery and gift shop For sure we will back once in Cambria.

It is located in a small older home converted into a restaurant with several dining areas. The interior decor is warm & cozy without being overly pretentious. The tables were dressed in white table cloths (covered with white paper) with candle light casting an inviting atmosphere to relax and enjoy one's meal. The staff was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The service was relaxed and unhurried. Our sea scallops entrée was a bit disappointing as the scallop size was quite small. Besides the corn pudding, the dish was in need of some spice but the creamy tomatillo sauce made it acceptable. The lamb chops entrée filled the plate and was plated quite nicely. The chops were well prepared with a nice char and quite flavorful. The Black Cat Bistro offers a nice selection of wines, many of which are from local vintners.

They were stuffed with a feta type cheese and were absolutely delish! My main dish wass the Filet Mignon. I ordered it medium. It came with veggies and mashed potatoes. When the steak showed up it looked good and I cut into the steak. It was done to perfection. It had some kind of JD whiskey sauce on it. I took a bite and it was awesome. SO much flavor. I was in heaven. It was like eating candy. I have always considered The Range in Santa Margarita the best but THIS, yeah this was going to be hard to beat! The Sows Ear was now top dog! The mashed potatoes were epic as well. Perfectly cooked and very creamy. The veggies, (broccoli, squash, and carrots), were great as well. Not a huge squash fan but they did not over do the squash and it was just full of flavor. This REALLY went well when it came to the food. The portions were spot on. Lastly we come to the dessert. We had the Mud Pie. Yep, it was a HUGE piece for less than $10.00. Great value and man.........., was it good. Enough for 2 people. It really creates that intimate setting when you can share with your significant other and it be more then enough. This place would have gotten 5 stars had the interior temp been comfortable. 4.5 stars! The bill for the two of us, no alcohol, was right at $140.00. with tip were out the door at approx. $170.00. Thanks to the staff for making this experience great! Ramona, Katie, and the guy walking around that made sure we were good! They made a great team! The crowning jewel was that we had used Uber to get there, but could not get one to return to our hotel! In a bit of a panic, we asked the Manager ( Owner?) if she knew how we could get back. She immediately offered her daughter, who happened to be there visiting! The daughter laughed and said " sure!". We had a fun ride back...she was charming. She refused payment ( but we left money on the seat)....said " this is what we do here!". We will definately always eat here when in town, just because of the people ( and the yummy food).

I had been shopping at the Antique shops down the street and had to go to the bathroom. This was the first restaurant I found and used the facilities before eating a late lunch. After I used the facilities the waitress just stared at me while I was waiting (as instructed by a sign) at the greeters' podium. I was seated and my order was taken. It was obvious that she just wanted to get back to the bar, where her "regulars" were waiting. I should have put my earphones in and listened to some music, because the bar-folk were quite loud in their inappropriate conversation. The food was nothing to write home about, either. I had the trio of tostadas, a salad, and a soda. The salad was great, large and good dressing. But I have to say the tostadas were only mediocre. The beef one also had a strange aroma, spicing? It tasted absolutely horrible, I am surprised that I didn't get food poisoning later in the day. The chips and salsa were only so-so. I would only recommend this restaurant if you are going there for the bar atmosphere, or the toilet!! read more

I don't normally leave reviews, but this place was so bad I had to say something. First off, the wait time was ridiculous -- it took 30 to 40 minutes just to get our food, and the place wasn't even that busy. That kind of delay is not normal and shows a serious lack of organization in the kitchen. Then when the food finally came, the carne asada was undercooked and super chewy -- like it wasn't even fully done cooking. For a dish that's supposed to be a staple, it was straight-up disappointing and barely edible. The waitress was rude and clearly uninterested in helping us. He acted like he didn't care what we ordered and didn't make any effort to be friendly or welcoming. It honestly felt like we were bothering him just by being there. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. Poor service, bad food, and even worse attitude. Don't waste your time or money here -- there are plenty of other places that actually know how to treat customers with respect and cook a meal properly. read more

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely superb, and the service was just as impressive. Because the overall rating online was only mediocre, we honestly didn't expect much - but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was delicious, very flavorful, and clearly made with care. Our whole family finished every dish, which rarely happens! The service was also outstanding. Even though it was a busy Friday night, the lady who helped us was incredibly attentive, kind, and sweet. She made sure we have everything we needed and checked on us throughout the meal without ever making us feel rushed. Her warm and thoughtful service really made our evening special. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. This turned out to be one of the best Mexican meals our family has had. Don't let the average rating fool you- this place truly deserves a visit. read more

During our night at Cambria Pines Lodge after New Year Day, we decided we didn't want to spend $30/person on food at the lodge so we ventured into downtown and eventually settled on Las Cambritas. To our surprise, the service was fast, the food was plentiful and the experience was great. We were so impressed that we ended up going back again the next day! I'm a Native Texan so I'm used to great Tex Mex. Las Cambritas, while not Tex Mex, really had a great selection of food and it was exactly what we wanted both times. We both had basic foods, like he tacos, enchiladas and burritos but everything we ate was delicious. The servers were as nice as could be, lots of smiles and good attitudes. The food hit the spot! I think this place is slightly underrated and I hope it gets more great reviews as time goes on b/c it's worth a visit. read more

THIS RESTAURANT DESERVES GOOD KARMA! We stopped by here for takeout one night during our trip to Cambria. The food was excellent: an absolutely delicious portobella enchilada and a huge and scrumptious burrito. Super yummy. But here's the amazing thing: when we got home to San Diego, there was an envelope from Las Cambritas in our mailbox. Inside was my car registration, which had somehow fallen out of my purse! I was so amazed that someone from the restaurant took the time and trouble to mail it back to me. They didn't include a note, so I don't know who to thank. But THANK YOU for your thoughtfulness and generosity, anonymous Las Cambritas person! read more

Some of these "reviewers" need to get a life. Look, I'm a local. I've eaten here a LOT, and I have always enjoyed the food immensly EVERY TIME. I like spicey food, and the faire here is tasty, gererous and reasonably priced. Everybody is entitled to their "opinion" but when they diss this place that I KNOW is great, makes me think they have an agenda of meanness and pettyness. Try this place-you won't be disappointed...!!! I have been here many times, and thoroughly enjoy the food, drinks and the friends you meet here, but this one occasion made me think twice to coming back ever again. Having dinner inside the restaurant and in the bar area where food is being served a group came in with a dog. I have no problem with dogs being outside on the patio but not inside when the dog is roaming around. I would think this is against the law in California where customers and employees are touching the dog and who knows if they are washing their hands before they touch food. read more

We went to Las Cambritas yesterday and had such a great experience! Tanner was hands down one of the best servers we've ever had--super attentive, kind, and hustling the whole time. She made sure we had everything we needed, even bringing out extra plates and spoons without us having to ask since she knew we were sharing. The food was awesome, and the vibes were just as good. Simply put, possibly the best carne asada on the face of the earth! Sundays are special with live music. I STRONGLY recommend to make reservations especially with the holidays right around the corner. It just makes sense and makes it easier for you and the staff. Came here with a big group, the service and the food were amazing! Great chips and salsa! Had the grande burrito it was huge and so good. A few of the people in our group are vegan and this place was not only accommodating but they had options for them. This place has great food wonderful service and has a super fun atmosphere! I came to this restaurant from Paso Robles to try it was a huge disappointment I told the waiter the soda was out syrup he went check but he never came back to my table waited like 20 minutes and i left and i am a waiter in a restaurant this waiter sucks at waiting tables honestly he needs to learn how be a waiter. read more

Unless you're going here for the beer, don't bother. The food was awful (we had Huevos Rancheros) and the chips are okay (probably because it's the only thing that needs to taste good for those drinking the beer). Service was less than stellar, and if you're a non-smoker, don't bother to be seated on the patio. read more

I love this place. I live in Florida and always make this one of my stops. Food is great and drinks are devine! I had the Bakerita. OMG! It was fantastic! Beware, you don't want to have to many! They also have a great outside patio which is dog friendly. Bands on Sunday. A must for visitors! read more
