The tostadas were tasty and I was so surprised that after a while I noticed the tostadas never got soggy even after all the lime I squeezed on there. Crunchy as can be. The fish tasted fresh and the ceviche was flavored well. Our server was very nice and attentive. I did like the atmosphere here and the decor. At least he could have come over and just checked on on waters or perhpas gave us a hose to fill up? 20 minutes after my order was placed I received my cold quesadilla. It was ok. By then I had already nibbled on my arm and stolen a few nibbles of my friends food. I was rather disapointed...that even after he delivered our food he didn't even bother to ask us if we needed more drink refills.... Sorry I wasn't drinking anything alcholic like the other ghetto goobers sitting around us. I am a stickler to professionalism and basic service. I don't request much..but at the minimum I would like to be acknowledged of my existence. I will most likely never return. I will take my business elsewhere. Food wasn't that impressive. Eaten here for a number of lunches as it is closest to Kaiser Hospital and to O'Brien's Grocery. Do like their hot bean dip and that their chips are not greasy. Carnitas are excellent and the portions good. Daily specials are a good bargain and cover just about anything someone would want. Service can be erratic and when they have new servers, many new to English, there can be some confusion when ordering and addressing mis-orders. But it does have a good bar and is comfortable to chat over lunch...is not too loud. An OK Mexican food place. read more

The food is good. I had the garlic bowl and I thought it was very good. The veggies were soft but tasty. The Spanish rice was cooked just right. The chicken was hot and freshly cooked. My boyfriend had the Baja fish taco. The cod was fried and it was good. He added hot sauce and it made the tacos complete. The bean and salsa chip dip was good too. Overall, good place. Atmosphere is a mixture of people and diversity. The decor is a bit old fashion and doesn't collaborate with the Mexican feel but the bar area is nice. Our waiter/bartender didn't seem as friendly but she wasn't rude so not much to elaborate on her service. This is a very busy place. Tried this place for the first time. It was good. I'm here on a Monday at 5pm and it was fast seating. We ordered the molcajete mixto ($25) and it came with rice and beans and a Loco burrito ($13) mojado($1) de Chile verde. We honestly waited maybe 5-10 min for the food to come out. To us that was really fast (no it didn't come out cold). The molcajete was good. The burrito I ordered has fries in it. They skimp you on those fries. The Chile verde they put over it is made from tomatillo and not a can. Right away I was able to tell. Only downfalls I would say is that i would of liked the molcajete sauce and the Chile verde to be spicy. Overall I would still give this place 5 stars and come back. read more

Received the most terrible service here while dining last night. We ordered two wet burritos with shredded chicken. The burritos came out as beef, and the two that ordered the burrito do not eat beef because of religious beliefs. My wife and sister ordered cocktails and about 5 mins after we ordered our food Lo and behold; the food arrives in like 5 minutes and the cocktails no where in sight. When I told the waiter he said "you want me to send the food back" in a super sarcastic manner. We said no obviously as our food would have been sent back and our food turns cold if he sent it back. The food here is so good! This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. We love that they give you refried beans along with your chips and salsa before you order your food. I got some Menudo here for the first time. I have a strange allergy and requested no limes and that I'm allergic to citrus fruit. When I got home in my box of add one's (onions, oregano, chilies) there were lemons in the box. All the add on's were on the box mixed in with the lemons. Imagine had I not seen it and eaten it and had an allergic reaction? The food tasted better than ok but not the best I've had. I got sick that night (gassy and diarrhea) this scared me that perhaps the cook did not wash their hands after cutting lemons. After a long day at work my sister and I decided to take the kids to dinner at Las Casuelas. The seating was quick and the young lady who was our server was polite. The reason for the two stars is based on the food and the service once we alerted the staff of the problem with the food. My food was way too greasy and in my opinion not worth the value of what was being charged. My sister was finishing her taquito and pulled a dark coarse hair out of it. So gross! When we alerted the server she quickly apologized and took the plate from the table. She asked my sister if she was ok as my sister was visibly disgusted and my sister said no. The young lady came back with the bill and my sister asked if there was anything that could be done regarding her meal, not the other 3 meals on the tab just the one with the hair in it. The young lady went to ask the management and returned with a small amount being taken off the bill. My sister shouldn't have been charged for her meal. Pretty sure we'll never return again. I'm not much of a bean fan, but I kept going back for that dip! The waiters were friendly and they continuously came back to refill our drinks. We were there with a large party and mostly everyone liked their food. There were a few things I found wrong with some of the food however. My chicken garlic bowl had a tad too much of something sour in the sauce. It wasn't terrible, but also not great. A friend of mine had a wet burrito with far too much sour cream inside of it. There was seriously tons of it. Another friend had a chicken torta, she enjoyed it, but the piece I had was on the dry side, and I felt it needed salt. When everyone was finished eating, it felt like we were waiting on the tab forever. It seriously took so long for them to come out with it. All in all, the place was a little better than okay. It was really busy and I wonder how my experience would have been on a slower day. I would try this restaurant again, but I can't say I would recommend it to a friend... just yet. He said no you said enchilada. I said no we didn't even order enchiladas for lunch. This is for daughter. What she always eats. The food used to be pretty good here. Last time I was here was three years ago. I ordered the Chile Verde tonight. It appears they just boiled the pork then poured the same green sauce that they use for Chile rellenos on top of it. That's not how Chile verde is made. The enchilada was made up of shredded, unseasoned chicken that was just thrown into a warmed tortilla, then green sauce was put on top and cheese. You can tell it wasn't baked as an enchilada should be. The black beans had zero flavoring. I had to heavily salt them. The rice was flavorless also, and I found some hard grains in it. The salsa is pretty good, as are the chips, both of which they serve you as you wait to order. The drinks were strong and pretty good. I guess they liquor you up so you won't notice how horrible the food is. I nearly always finish my food. Not tonight. When the waitress asked if we wanted a box, I said, "No thanks. It was horrible." When I spoke with the manager he said "that's how they do it." I told him, "You and I both know that's not how Chile verde is made. Your mom and my mom wouldn't make it that way." Bar in the front, restaurant in the back! Busy night at Las Casuelas but we were seated pretty quickly. The service was fast and friendly. Chips and salsa are given and the added bonus is beans! Both the salsa and beans were really good. Lots of items on the menu, I chose the carnitas super burrito and it was delicious! I was so impressed with this place! I ordered the tacos don Jorge. They were out of sight! I went to Memos a couple weeks ago and ordered the same thing and was super disappointed because the menu description said it was carne asada, chorizo, and bacon. Sounded delish! Unfortunately, it did not have any chorizo or bacon. Somehow I ended up at las las cazuelas in Ripon and decided to give don Jorge tacos one more chance. Boy am I glad I did! Las cazuelas came correct! They had the perfect amount of bacon and chorizo to complement the carne asada, and there was a lot of meat on those tacos. Also, my skinny margarita was AMAZING!
