Came here for my Birthday celebration. We called ahead of time to see if we needed reservations. We were told first come first serve. Brought our party of 8 including kids. The waitress seated us at the back private room area. We did not ask for a special seating area first of all. Once we were done with our meals. We were told to move to another area of the restaurant because another party had put a deposit down for reservations. They would not serve us anymore until we were to move. Waiter said that we were here for too long, so we have to move! Spoke to manager and he was very rude to us! Did not want to compensate for their incomopentance! He also said we were sitting in the private room for too long. We did not chose to sit there, we were placed there. Then they said we can sit at the bar. We had children with us! They said it was ok, but at the beginning they said children can't sit at bar area. which we understand! They way we were treated was not exceptable! We had family that drove in from out of town! This place is perfect for a Sunday brunch. We sat at the bar to avoid waiting for a table and the whole experience was great. The bar tender was really nice and the food was good. My boyfriend and I ordered the fajitas for two and had SO MUCH FOOD! We ordered margaritas to wash it down and they were superb. Also read up on their happy hour and we will definitely be going back. Las casulas on dale is terrible. The green sauce for the enchiladas is so sour, the mole enchiladas are dry, the Mexican rice has absolutely no flavor, the chicken fajitas are burnt. I called them to let them know there food wasn't good his option was to give me half my money back or remake it. My kids were still hungry so I had him remake our food. I like Las Casuelas. A group of friends and I went there one night and I have been back several times since then. I really like the low carb chicken plate! It comes with a generous portion of chicken, cheese, and mushrooms. It also has a side of beans. The chips and bean dip they serve before the food arrives are good too! Personally, I haven't had to wait too long to be seated, so that is a plus. But they can get pretty busy, and the parking lot is always full (after all, it IS in a shopping center). The service can be hit or miss here. If we had the same guy all the time, I would rate Las Casuelas at a five for sure. But of few of the servers are less than friendly. My friend didn't like her camarones a la diablo. Overall, I enjoy their Mexican food. read more

Called prior to coming to this location, to make reservations for our party of 16. I was informed it is first come first serve. Arrived early was told we had to be seated at two separate tables. It wasn't possible to put us together. The first young man helping us was friendly and helpful. After our full party arrived, it took a while for the remainder of our party to get drinks. After ordering our food it was brought out quickly. Took along time to get refills on drinks and alcohol drinks. Food was okay. Not bad not amazing. I did let the wait staff know it was my friends birthday, no happy birthday song or acknowledgement to him what so ever. Maybe this is a spot to go with a few people. read more

Las casuelas is one of my favorites in Manteca so I thought to try the Modesto location for lunch since I was in the area. It's my third time here. Ordered the lunch chili verde super burrito as a wet burrito with green sauce for an extra dollar. I always order green sauce at all restaurants but I wasn't feeling it here at all. I only took a few bites and had to leave it alone. Burrito just didn't seem authentic either. Won't order this again. Michelada was good Service was excellent 2 star for food, 4.5 star for service. Recently I called in and asked if the garlic bowl can be done with fajita steak even was willing to pay more and stated that and the girl on the phone wasn't even willing to check and flat out said no I can't do that no substitutions I said okay thank you then I won't be ordering from you today and hung up. Today my husband ordered a burrito Togo and when he got there he was told it'll be $16 something, he asked the girl if that was correct as online the price said $10 something. Over the past 5 years their service has gone downhill. Workers lack customer service. The last time I went I ordered a Molcajete & in the last few bites I bit in to a screw... yes a screw!! Carne asada tacos was mainly onions and cilantro and very dry. My wife's dish was the pork and I ordered hers without cilantro and they loaded it up with cilantro. Ugh! Luckily she likes onions but said it was way too much even for her. I will give it another shot but not anytime soon. read more

If you value your time look elsewhere. a few friends and I came here for lunch we had a big party so we had to split tables which was fine but my table waited 40 minutes to place our order. It would be understandable if there were a lot of customers but the restaurant had 4-6 tables filled other than ours. By the time we placed our order our friend had finished eating and left. Portions here are large so bring an appetite. I ordered the ceviche which came with four tostadas covered in fish and deliciousness. The tostadas were tasty and I was so surprised that after a while I noticed the tostadas never got soggy even after all the lime I squeezed on there. Crunchy as can be. The fish tasted fresh and the ceviche was flavored well. Our server was very nice and attentive. I did like the atmosphere here and the decor. This place wasn't incredibly clean, there was some napkins and random stuff blowing around every time the door opened. The prices weren't bad considering the portion sizes. At least he could have come over and just checked on on waters or perhpas gave us a hose to fill up? 20 minutes after my order was placed I received my cold quesadilla. It was ok. By then I had already nibbled on my arm and stolen a few nibbles of my friends food. I was rather disapointed...that even after he delivered our food he didn't even bother to ask us if we needed more drink refills.... Sorry I wasn't drinking anything alcholic like the other ghetto goobers sitting around us. I am a stickler to professionalism and basic service. I don't request much..but at the minimum I would like to be acknowledged of my existence. I will most likely never return. I will take my business elsewhere. Food wasn't that impressive. Service poor. Server mainly came to our table just to drop off food --I had to order my food from a passing buy hostess/server. Eaten here for a number of lunches as it is closest to Kaiser Hospital and to O'Brien's Grocery. Do like their hot bean dip and that their chips are not greasy. Carnitas are excellent and the portions good. Daily specials are a good bargain and cover just about anything someone would want. Service can be erratic and when they have new servers, many new to English, there can be some confusion when ordering and addressing mis-orders. But it does have a good bar and is comfortable to chat over lunch...is not too loud. An OK Mexican food place. read more

My boyfriend had the Baja fish taco. The cod was fried and it was good. He added hot sauce and it made the tacos complete. The bean and salsa chip dip was good too. Overall, good place. Atmosphere is a mixture of people and diversity. The decor is a bit old fashion and doesn't collaborate with the Mexican feel but the bar area is nice. Our waiter/bartender didn't seem as friendly but she wasn't rude so not much to elaborate on her service. This is a very busy place. Price is a higher than other Mexican restaurants but this location probably makes the price reasonable. So far one of the top Mexican restaurants in Modesto in my preference. Just pricier. read more
