Wow. I expected their Cuban sandwich to be good based on all the reviews and photos, but I was…read morehonestly blown away by how great it was. It had perfect ingredients and the perfect proportion of everything. My partner and I shared one. We also got an order of the pernil (roast pork) with rice and beans, and shared that. The pernil was amazing! Tender and flavorful - it's probably one of the best ever! In fact the only Cuban sandwich I ever had that was as good as this one was when I worked in NYC in the 1980's, and I went to a small Cuban restaurant near my office on West 46th street. The rice and beans were great, along with the sauce they give you, which is just spicy enough and flavorful enough to bring every flavor sense front and center. Portions were also big enough that we have leftovers for tomorrow!!! Service was friendly, caring, and with a smile. Loved everything about this place and the warmth of the people who clearly love what they do. Sadly we had no room for dessert, but next time we'll make up for it!

All their cakes and pastries are amazing. Fruit tarts which I'm not a fan of was amazing. I wish they opened a bigger restaurant where you can sit and eat. Their seating is always full and hit or miss during peak hours. Plan accordingly. If I'm in the area I make it my priority to stop by for a lil something something.

First time coming here and won't be the last…read more They have a variety of empanadas to choose from (beef, beef and cheese, chicken, chicken and cheese, bbq chicken, buffalo chicken, pork, pepperoni pizza, pizza, Shepards pie, Cuban!). They all come 2/$6 and AREN'T sold individually! Potato balls (pork, beef, chicken, buffalo chicken) They have side of rice and beans, rice and gandules, yellow rice, and Mac and cheese. They also have dessert empanadas with apple and guava and cheese. We got the beef empanadas and the apple pie with powdered sugar for desert! The apple pie empanadas were soo good! It was like a crispy and flaky pie in your hands!

The staff is pleasant and helpful in recommending only the best for us to choose from. My husband and I wish we got more chicken and cheese ones because we ended up going rock paper scissors on who gets the last one from our order. I'm always a fan of a ground beef and cheese empanada and they delivered there as well. Perfect combo for the guava and cheese dessert empanadas. We even tried the potato fillers, which the one for the day was shepherds pie. We devoured everything and still think about those bites. My husband keeps asking "when are we going back to the empanadas place in Meriden" (he's not good with names). This means we will be back soon because we both can't wait!

A plant based empanada foodie spot! Exactly what my life needed with convenient delivery option…read moreavailable. As a vegetarian I'm always on the hunt for the best of the best in vegetarian cuisine. I'm officially in love with the Plant Palate and their F I R E empanadas. Handmade, baked to order, these empanadas are a feel good meal. Make sure to try their rice and beans side. They have a little kick too! So I ordered the ground beef copycat signature empanadas which can easily fool ya. I honestly had to do a double take because just from the look it felt like this was real ground beef. The sriracha mayo gave it the perfect kick too! To put this empanada to the test, we told our meat eating sister that this was a ground beef empanada and ours was the vegetarian one. She ate it convinced that it was meat. A few hours later we finally told her she had the same one we did. She couldn't believe it and it really had her fooled. So 100% compliments to the chef! They also sell sweet (nutella) empanadas (I'll def be trying this one next time). Bottom line: vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, you NEED to try the plant palate. It will leave your palate having a party with the extra spicy kick and the bomb flavors. Thanks to the Plant Palate for making amazing food like this. Can't wait to try some more!

I'll be honest, I was disappointed by my experience here. I absolutely love Mexican food and, being…read morenew to the area, was excited to see this business with an immaculate reputation on Yelp. I did come at an in-between time (around 3pm), so it's possible that this was a one-off, but it was so meh that I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another shot (if I do, I'll come right at lunch or dinner time). The good: the mole was fantastic! Even with a mediocre meal, this stood out as amazing. The portions were generous. I thought at one point the woman asked if I wanted chicken or beef enchiladas, and having never had beef enchiladas I said "beef please." It turns out, I received chicken enchiladas with a portion of skirt steak on top (see photo). Again, very generous. The decor was lively. The misses: The beans were quite bland, to the point where I was surprised...it's such a foundational element of Mexican cuisine, but they needed more spices / a touch more salt. Also, my wife ordered the veggie wrap and it was bland. It contained lots of different vegetables, but somehow they weren't seasoned. I know vegetarian burritos aren't all the craze, but when I took a bite of it, I agreed...it was just vegetables, no seasoning at all. Nice to have it on the menu for folks like my wife, but why not season them first? Maybe it was an oversight. The horchata was different from what I've had in the past...not bad, but not something I would recommend either. It was watery, lacked any cinnamon flavor, and had ground almond on top, which was interesting (maybe this is regional?). Without the dynamite mole and the generous portions, this would be a 2 star review, but I can't, in good conscience, give less than 3 stars with mole like that. But the beans...womp womp.

The menu is extensive with some Mexican plates you rarely see at most Mexican restaurants. The totopos are really crisp. Compostable and microwavable takeout containers There is some street parking.
