Fajita plate for 2 with beef and chicken
    Brittany R.

Great lunch spot! Yelp didn't let me down. We sat ourselves. In a couple minutes we had menus. Our drinks and chips were brought shortly after. They have a self serve salsa bar. The salsa was the right level of medium caliente. My husband got the homemade lemonade. It was just a little sweet and quite refreshing. We shared the beef and chicken fajita plate for 2. Definitely enough food for 2. The meats were sizzling, thinly sliced, and lightly seasoned. We each got our own plate of salad, rice, and refried beans. The rice had a yummy garlic flavor. The service was good and quick. We were in and out in maybe 30 minutes. We would definitely come back.

TACOS!! Stopped by on a whim after picking up my son from a friend's house. Ashton said I would not be disappointed in their breakfast tacos. I was a little skeptical because I'm quite the self proclaimed taco critic queen. Nonetheless, it was not the best day to leave a bad impression on me. I was so hungry I could taste my taco from the kitchen. My first bite was heavenly. OH-M-GEE, the tortillas were homemade. They stuffed my tacos silly and most importantly, they were not stingy with their cheese. I was thanking my taco Gods for answering my prayers. Not to mention, I probably loved my son a little more that morning. I had one potato/egg/bacon/cheese & one carne guisada and cheese. I ended up ordering a third for later. Some of the best tacos I've ever had. If It wasn't 45 minutes from my home in Austin I'd be a regular. I can't wait to return and indulge in taco bliss.

This is great little roadside restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. The food is exactly as it should be; not fancy, just authentic and good. The guacamole was made fresh. Tacos include: al pastore, barbacoa, picadillo, carnitas, chicharon, tripas, and others. Two of us had two tacos each, split guacamole, and two Topo Chico's (mineral water): $17. Highly recommended.

Fresh from the Salsa Bar!!...Like it Spicy?..Try the light Green Sauce!

We do like taking the back Roads between Manor and Bastrop, and we have passed this place by a few times...Elliott B. called it ..Hole in the wall for sure, but the reviews didnt let us down. Self service Salsa bar is cool...4 to choice from...Your basic Pico, something I would save for breakfast...Very Mild Red and 2 different style green Sauces...but I was drawn like a fly to the velvey light green...Spicy goodness at its best!!..Service was good. Warning!!!...The food comes out Uber HOT!! and stays hot thru out the whole meal...Something I will never complain about. As for the meal...Everything Hit the Spot...Wife had the Beef Chiladas with double rice. Beef had a great flavor, Sauce was great along with some great rice....I went with the Working Man Plates..2 Tamales, 2 cheese Chiladas and 2 Crunch Taco..PLUS Beans and Rice...Hours later, I still cant figure out where I put it all...Everything tasted fresh and we left happy and full. Being only 30 minutes from the house and the drive is very relaxing.

Been driving by this place for three years while my daughter is in College Station and it's always packed. We finally stopped and gave it a try. I had the beef enchiladas and husband had the beef fajita tacos. Both were delicious. I wish my daughter wasn't graduating in two months. I will have to make the road trip just to come eat here.

    Doesn't do the burrito justice!

It's a large space, great for groups, and it's nice there is a kids menu option. We started with water all around, plus Mexican cokes and a paloma. We shared seafood tostada, chips n guacamole, wings, and chicken flautas. Everything came out hot, fresh, and nicely seasoned. We have two gluten free folks in the group and there were plenty of corn based options. The tostadas come with three and were nice and fresh, I was a little hesitant when it said mayo, but there was just a bit to get the shrimp and imitation crab to stick together. Turned out the kids loved the wings - we tried the citrus pepper and Austin amber bbq flavors. The chicken inside the flautas was tender and we enjoyed the cabbage, onion, carrot slaw to bring a fresh crunch. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING -- BEST MEXICAN FOOD ANYWHERE…read more If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I've traveled all over Texas and across the U.S., and I can say without hesitation that Las Cocinas Mexican Grill is hands-down the BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever been to -- and that includes all of Austin. My family and I come here several times a week, even though we don't live close by. That alone should tell you how incredible this place is. Must-try favorites (do NOT skip these): The Margaritas - Very strong and absolutely perfect. Order them half & half (half on the rocks, half frozen). Trust me -- you'll thank me later. Nachos Al Carbon (Appetizer) - The beef fajita meat is out of this world. Tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. Beef Fajitas Cremosas (Entrée) - Get them with EXTRA sun-dried tomatoes. Oh. My. God. I have never had anything like this in my life, and it's something I crave several times a week. Stuffed Jalapeños - So good I sometimes order them as my entire meal. And the onion rings they're served on? Easily the best onion rings I've ever had anywhere. Beyond the food, the staff is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, they make you feel like family -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy you're there. That kind of service is rare, and it's one of the many reasons this place is so special to us. And yes -- I always forget to take pictures of my food because I eat it before I remember to take photos for a review . That should tell you everything you need to know about how good it is. We are incredibly thankful for Las Cocinas. It's not just our favorite Mexican restaurant -- it's our favorite restaurant, period, and the best in the entire area by a mile. Perfect in every way.

Honestly, I have nothing negative to say, it's a must try when in Bastrop!!

I got the pastor quesadilla and it was packed full or meat and cheese! I mean this thing was over an inch thick! The pastor was nice and juicy and packed full of flavor. The only thing that could have made it better is a little bit of sour cream to go with it. I grabbed some red and green salsas and I'll admit, the green was too spicy for me but that was pretty good and still pretty spicy. You can also purchase a variety of meats by the pound. I would recommend giving this place a try, you won't regret it!

On the maps it says the hours close at 8:00 PM everyday except Friday at a later time! How inconvenient and unprofessional and a waste of time!
