The decor inside is very well done....never dined here at night, but the colored lights inside must give an added charm to the place.. I got the plate of chicken fajitas ... large serving it was on a steaming hot platter...very well prepared and one of the best fajita plates I have had.... the waitress's difficulty with the English language added a bit of authenticity to the restaurant...we went there during the recent Texas mandate on face masks and social distancing....we were expecting paper throwaway menus but we were offered the original large menu brochure (I assume they sanitize each menu after use)....on the downside, we were surprised when they seated a table of 4 next to our table ...they were less than 4 feet away...not exactly social distancing considering the dining room was relatively empty and considering the state wide mandate..... other than that , it was good experience overalll.. read more

My wife and I ate here on Saturday, the 20th,September 2014. I had the El Grande dinner and I noticed the food smelled off. The poblano pepper, when opened had a weird smell, and the meat in that and the rest of my dinner looked strange. Pretty average is about all I can really say. The margarita seemed to be a mix. The suiza burrito seemed to be made with taco meat and tasted like Taco Bell meat, as did the taco. The suiza sauce was good but not unique. The chicken in the enchiladas was quite tasty but I swear it was a Velveeta-like cheese on top of it. The beans arrived lukewarm and with a skin on top. The chips and salsa (warm red and cool, delicious green) were really good, but that's were the goodness ended. I ordered a combo plate with one cheese enchilada, relleno, and taco al carbon. I tasted everything, but only ate the taco. The enchilada sauce was a little bland for my liking and the cheese wasn't good. One cut into the relleno and water gushed all over the plate. We were driving from Georgetown to Houston and needed dinner. Looked over several reviews in La Grange and chose Las Fuentes. We had a very nice meal and the place was obviously a local favorite. When this place first opened I gave it plenty of chances. The three male waiters...the last few times we have went for a girl's night, either completely ignore us or hover over us and linger for way too long. I will say that they're very expensive eight and nine dollar drinks are not even subpar. Are pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris had no alcohol in them at all!!! Just becoming more disappointing... I believe they still do karaoke on Thursday nights in the main dining room which is always fun to watch. But I haven't seen them do that the last few times I have gone in on Thursdays.. I guess because it's the second Mexican restaurant in town there really isn't much choice but they probably won't be getting much more of my business . just overrated and bad service read more

Well, I am a local resident and have had off and on experiences with this place over the years but the other day was the last straw and I have to 'dis' this place. The wait time was a little long but not horrendous. There were five adults and two children and when the food arrived ALL the food was cold. Although they offered to bring 'new' food, I refused.......my reasoning is that you should bring warm food the first time around. We visited this place en route to Austin from Houston on a Sunday night and were happy to find something open. The only two positive things about it were that it was open and salsa was very good. We ordered fajitas with fresh California vegetables. Which were in actual fact fajitas with a bag of frozen vegetables, that were so over-cooked their molecular structure had been altered, dumped on top. The only thing that tipped us off that this had at some point been solid food was the orange crinkle cut carrots hanging on for their lives amongst the green and white mush. La Grange doesn't have too many restaurants, actually as a big city kid it's amazing how few places to have dinner there are, and most are pretty substandard. However, Las Fuentes is the best in my experience, and it's pretty good. We didn't get to try Bistro 108, which seems to be another local favorite, closed both Sundays and Mondays, the two days we were in town. Anyways, Las Fuentes does good mexican food, their enchiladas, fajitas, and quesadillas (especially with added fajita meat) are excellent. The queso is a bit insipid, so stay away from the "cheese puffs" listed in so many combinations (wth is this?? never seen such a menu item before). After sampling the other below average restaurants in the area, we drove out to Shulenberg and had a decent meal at Frank's, a fascinating local restaurant that's been serving meals since the 1920's. They make a mean chicken fried steak as well as a cheeseburger. read more

We were driving through this little town on the way to Port Aransas and got really hungry. I found this place on yelp/google and wasn't too optimistic because they didn't have many stars. Let me tell you though, this place was amazing! We both got fajitas, he got chicken and I got the beef. We ordered off the lunch menu but it was still so much food! The service was great and we got our food super quick. They give you chips and two types salsa to start and a sample queso. Everything was awesome.
