I treated myself to fajitas at-home, and ordered in on a rainy day. The beef, veggies, rice, beans, all the fajita fix-ins were cooked nicely, not a huge amount of unique flavor, but honestly, I would order this A LOT, just purely based on the portions and how it was served. Felt like I definitely got my money's worth. I also got the Mayan salad. Didn't necessarily feel like the ingredients mixed well together or complemented one another, but overall, I cracked some tortilla chips over, added a little ranch, and made it work. Was really just looking for some dang minerals and greens anyway :) Oh... I also ordered a margarita. And... it came with two! Ha, so if you see on the to-go menu 'Margarita 2x1' I think you are getting two margs for the price of one! Not going to complain. So after much looking and clicking on "other locations", I was finally able to find this location and place my order online. I ordered three entrees for take-out. Since I was very close to the location when I placed my order, I just drove there and waited for the food. The takeout order took longer than I expected and the food was greasier than I desired. Las margaritas is a Mexican restaurant located just outside the campus of the university of Louisville right across the street from. The schools baseball and football stadiums. My family stopped In here for lunch the other day on a rainy and sleepy Friday evening. Was around 330pm so not very crowded a few people here and there. They had band instruments out for what I assume was going to be live music on a Friday night. They do start you off with the traditional chips and salsa. At first I didn't know what to think of the salsa. It had a nice kick to it (they didn't offer mild or hot just one salsa) and the chips were a tad bit stale. However as I dove in I kept going back for more. So either they grew on me or I was starving. But I'd say at min it's a solid chips and salsa. For our entrees the three youngest split a kids chicken tender and fries. They ate majority of the two servings we ordered and appeared satisfied. My oldest daughter got the shrimp tacos and said it was pretty good. She ate it all and was satisfied. My wife workers a burrito loco and a Caldo de Pollo soup. She was very satisfied with both her options as well. Said soup had great flavor and burrito was on par with other Mexican establishment burritos. So no complaints from her. One personally ordered a quesadilla Maya. Which is chicken and beef. I only tasted chicken which is fine because that would be my preference as menu didn't have a straight chicken. It was solid portion and folded over like a giant taco insured of cut into slices like a lot of places. Chicken had good flavor and the mozz cheese was a nice touch and very good. Or did not come with a salsa so I just used the chips salsa and it added the wanted extra flavor I was needing. It came with refried beans and rice. They're as just ok. Very average on taste for the sides. Service here wasn't bad but it wasn't quick. For being there at a slow and sleepy time it took a long time to get our food out. Well over 30 min. I think the staff was more focused on setting up the band and area for the night so maybe that contributed to the slowness. Overall it a nice place with some fun and lovely decor. I'm sure it has a good vibe on a Friday or Saturday night. With checking out. Near campus there isn't too much Mexicans choices other then senor iguana across the street. I personally like iguanas as it my favorite local Mexican chain. But you can't go wrong with las magritas either. A good authentic Mexican dining experience with solid pricing. read more

We have passed this place a number of times but had yet to dine there. This time we stopped here to eat prior to seeing the Derby Festival Balloon Glow. We were seated immediately and brought chips and salsa. Service was very pleasant and attentive. The food itself was very good and very filling. My wife chose the beef and chicken burritos while I decided on the fish tacos. Two other Mexican restaurants had gone out of business fairly recently. Perhaps Las Margaritas had something to do with it. We used to get carry out at the defunct Senior Iguana's but Las Margaritas is actually better. read more

I went in here for lunch yesterday. The margaritas was amazing if that's all you're drinking. I recommend if you're ordering guacamole don't order it it's really not chunky. They lie to you. The food didn't have much flavor. I would head to another location unless you just want to drink. So I had ordered guacamole and was going to go to another location but was too hungry so decided to stay at this location, and they forgot the guac. Eventually they come over to ask if everything was fine after I had been sitting with an empty glass for 20 minutes. The place wasn't even busy either :( The server had stated that they wasn't going to charge me for the guacamole. I had ordered steak fajitas and I told him not to worry about the guacamole because I will use it out of the container. Once the order came they told me I had to pay for the full guacamole because I had ate it on the fajita. Oh, and they don't have any hot salsa. Only mild. Disappointing. This is the second time I've given this place a chance, but I don't think they'll get a third from me. read more

I came here with my girlfriend, and her best friend + son. At first the waiter was super funny and laughing at our jokes. When it came time to get our food, my girlfriend found a hair in her food. All she wanted was it remade, she wasn't requesting a comp on the food or anything. After the waiter took the plate, a few minutes later he came over with the manager...that we never asked for. She said something along the lines of, "You found a hair in your food, but we don't have any women in the kitchen and it was curly." Meanwhile, both my girlfriend and I have curly hair. It felt like it was a backhanded way of accusing us of putting the hair in the food. My girlfriend proceeded to say "We thought it could have been from one of us, but it was under the burrito so it couldn't have been us" and told tell her that we didn't want anything other than the food remade. After the food was remade, my girlfriend stated that it was undercooked and just didn't taste good and just requested that the plate be taken as she wasn't going to eat it. They did remove the item from the bill, but overall it felt like a mix between a profiling and just plain rudeness. Truthfully, we all at some point had been to this location before and have had a positive experiences but with this experience alone, I will never come back to this location. read more

The people working there could not have been nicer, or more accommodating, which is why it pains me to leave a 3 star rating. But honestly, the food just misses the mark for anyone who loves Mexican food (and I do, so much). I figured the best way to figure out what kind of authenticity we were dealing with was to try the Mole. Mole is like a gold standard in Mexican cuisine and to have a good one means you are getting some deep levels of flavor, a comforting mix of spices, and an amazing richness. So I ordered the Mole Poblano (Boneless chicken thighs with homemade mole salsa. Served with rice and refried beans). First up the rice and beans were just like every basic Mexican restaurant you have ever been to, they were bland and uninteresting and I ignored them after one bite. Now for the chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked, but the mole was thin and watery. It just had notes of "sweet" and not really anything else. It didnt taste like spice, or chocolate, just mostly like nothing. Hershey's syrup has more complexity than this mole did. My margarita was excellent though, the prickly pear was an interesting flavor and I did enjoy that. Basically this is a place for white people to go and have a more upscale experience than Taco Bell. Pro tip though, add some of the bottled hot sauce to the salsa that is given to you with your chips, it enhances it greatly and cuts down on the powerful tomato flavor. read more

I got carry-out. First time customer, but I work across the street, and fellow employees had recommended it. Cute Mexican atmosphere that I liked. But the shrimp tacos were FANTASTIC. They use a delicious sauce on them. Perfect, fresh. I got the churros, not realizing they had ice cream on them. So by the time I got home, it was pretty much melted. We were visiting Louisville on a business trip and stayed near the airport. There are not many choices nearby and saw the reviews and thought this might be fine. We eat at expensive restaurants to chains and once our expectations are set appropriately, we are good to go. Parking was difficult considering the number of tables they have. We were seated immediately due to the availability of tables. Service was not good, but not the worst. It was slow, detatched and rude. We tried to order a couple of the Mexican beers and they did not have them. Food and beverages were dropped off, sometimes slammed to the table, and the server (Ariel) would quickly turn and leave without a word. She would infrequently come by, even when it was clear we had finished our meal. At the critical moment of asking for a check, she was nowhere to be found. When we asked for the check, she again disappeared for more than five minutes. The food was just OK. The salsa with the chips was watery and lacked flavor. We ordered the queso and had to send that back due to it also being watery (like a broth). We noticed when ours was sent back, so was another. The special fajitas was good but only had the variety of meats with pepper and onions. Of course there were the usual accompaniments but could have had some grilled tomatoes or something more. Would I return, no. Service is king at a restaurant. The food and drink could be wonderful, but if the service is bad, that is what you remember. read more

I was finally glad I had a nice Sit down Mexican restaurant near me. The first time I went the drinks was almost virgin like, the waitress said she made them. The next drink we had were ok, we got tipsy, I honestly don't remember what I or my brother had to eat honestly. The second time I went, I had a 32oz margarita, it did the job! Honestly I don't remember the food I had. So the third time I went back for the barria tacos= epic fail, I don't bother with an alcoholic beverage at all.
