My favorite place to eat Mexican in town! My family has been coming to El Camino for several years. Having grown up in Barrow county, El Camino has been apart of Winder and Barrow county for at least 30 years now, and they are still the best place to get Mexican food. We ordered over the phone takeout. Everything was good. The food was correct and delicious. I even added to my order when I arrived and it wasn't a hassle. My family and I love this place and will keep going whenever we want Mexican. Just keep doing what you are doing. read more

I have come here before and remembered the stake fajitas were awesome. This time I had a taste for some original tacos alpastor. I was so disappointed that the meat was tough and not enjoyable. The rice and beans had a mild taste of being from the previous day. The salsa was good and the red spicy sauce that came with the tacos was really good. Came in and was seated. Eventually our drink orders we taken, when they arrived one was wrong. Dinner orders placed. 15 min later the waiter comes back "what did you order?" Ordered again. 45 min after being seated the food arrived and my partner asked for a drink refill that never came until I flagged down the waiter again. We always get Togo food mostly. The steak fajitas are so yummy, we ask for our shell from the taco loco be packaged separately and they always oblige. The red tomatillo sauce is perfect. Ask for extra salsa, you only get a 4oz ramekin if you take it Togo! read more

I have not read the other reviews but our dining experience was great. There was a huge selection of Mexican dishes and the ones we ordered were generous portions of delicious food. Topping it off, our waiter of Hispanic descent was super friendly and attentive. We were so pleased with the experience that we tipped the waiter at 33%. Normally, we tip at 20% unless the experience is especially poor or great. This was a great experience. read more

For a Mexican restaurant that is manned almost entirely by Mexicans, it is lacking in atmosphere as much as quality. The Texas fajitas were mostly vegetables, lacking in chicken, beef, and shrimp. Both the chicken and beef were chunks of meat, not even sliced into strips. There certainly wasn't a flavor of being grilled. The 3 taco supremes were anything but supreme. Large soft tortillas heavy with cheese and very light on meat, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, etc. Tamales very thick and undercooked, they were mushy and lacked flavor. The wait staff not very personable...our waiter left half way through taking our orders to placate a whining customer at another table. read more

How this place got 3 stars I'll never know. Call me hard-headed, slow, not the sharpest tack in the pack - whatever. After giving these folks three tries, it's still not good. Unfortunately one star is as low as can be rated. My wife ordered the taco salad bowl - it came out of the kitchen swimming in some kind of grease. The waiter said it was a cheese sauce???? It smelled awful. The taco bowl looked as if it was several days old and my wife said it tasted as bad as it looked. I ordered the 4 enchiladas beef, chicken, pork and rice - only got three and they had no taste. The chips and salsa they bring to the table - they should have been in the garbage. Why do these restaurants act like they suddenly don't speak Spanish when you point out the dish is not what you ordered and they act like you don't know what the menu describes? Blows their mind I suppose when the white wasp begins talking in their language; suddenly they don't know their native language either!!!! We came here because it is always packed on the weekends. We thought it must be pretty good to be so busy. Quite a lot of food for the money, but all of it lacks flavor. To start, their salsa lacks any flavor and looked like tomato juice with 3 chucks of onion. I ordered a tamal and 2 enchiladas. The tamal was okay but stuffed with VERY little pork, the enchiladas were relatively flavorless and their sauce was bland. Their rice tastes like steamed white rice. My fiance ordered a chimichanga and it was a sad excuse for fried. It was wet and limp. He said the chicken was decent quality, it was just under seasoned. If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant that has little flavor and is bland for your grandmother that can't do salt or spice this is perfect. If you're looking for flavor, pass this one up. read more
