This was our first time at Las Marias and really enjoyed the food. I'm not certain why another recent reviewer was so negative about the restaurant. My wife had the chicken enchiladas and thought it was quite good and the beans served with the dish were delicious. I had a huarache with pork asado and it was also very good. Nice little place to grab a meal. My wife had a burrito without meat, I had a wrap that I would describe as a Mexican fat sandwich sausage, hard boiled egg, rice, onions and fries. It also had a jalapeño and some green salsa. Everything was very good and filling. Friendly service. The one problem is that I gave the server my credit card and did not look at the statement. When it came back, I added a tip. Shame on me for not being careful. They had already added a 15% tip. The recommended tip which I just clicked, included that in my tip. So I tipped on my tip!!! I think I just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I've been here twice in one week and I don't regret it - the food has been consistent and very authentic. We've ordered the sopes, flautas, tostados, enchiladas, tacos, and flan! Everything has been delicious my favorites being enchiladas, tostados, and sopes in that order. The top meats we enjoyed were pork carnitas and grilled beef. The serving sizes are large and flavor is delicious - it was easy to split it amongst friends. You get to choose the meat you want with your order which I appreciate. I'd recommend ordering the salsa on the side. The service is great and super friendly - there are only two English menus (additional point for authenticity) and the place is very clean although not very fancy. read more

Whatever we tried to order, there was a reason why they couldn't have it or they were out of it. They didn't even have avocados or guacamole to make an appetizer. Then we ordered a different dish and they didn't have the cheese for it. I was kind of surprised that we were one of only two tables in there and now it makes sense. I had a great meal at Las Marias. The hostess greeted me (in Spanish only) and gave me the breakfast and lunch menus. I already knew that I wanted horchata and flan, but did not know what I wanted eat. Then, I saw chilaquiles with salsa verde on the breakfast menu. I loved them! They were very flavorful, with a generous amount of salsa verde, chihuahua cheese and crema fresca. The avocado slices were also a nice touch. This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant run by very nice folks. They have an impressive menu and are known to make special orders if they don't have it in the menu. For example, I wanted some chilaquiles for breakfast but I didn't see it on the menu. I asked the owner (who was also my server) and sure enough she brought out a delicious plate. Our waitress provided us with menus (except my son) she forgot and when it was time to order I reminded her about the menu, so while everyone was ordering I looked through the kids menu and chose (nuggets&fries). Took a while for our beverages to arrive and even longer for the food. I had asked for a refill on my horchata and the waitress had forgotten, I had to ask another waitress for my refill, by that time we were just ready to go. Food is good service is horrible. We've been going there for a while and we go quite frequently. Lately they hired a new girl that we always tend to get. She takes 20 minutes just to get drinks. She would forget something we ordered then when we asked about it we would have to wait another 20 minutes. She has no basic waitressing skills and even after a couple months still hasn't picked up any. Before this one the previous waitress we had was completely rude. My husband who is Spanish was eating a taco with his hands and she couldn't believe he was eating it like that. They need better organization and staff training. The food should come out together they served one of us at a time. When my son was done eating they brought out my daughters and then a couple minutes later mine etc. If it wasn't for my husband ordering the food in Spanish who knows what we would get. The only reason we keep going back is because the food is always good. The tamales are great but they only have them on Sundays and sometimes Saturday. The huaraches are huge as big as the plate. They do special orders which I think they should just add to the kids section of rice beans and steak. However it also comes with two tortillas but they brought that after he was done eating. I really hope they can fix these issues because it would be a really great place since the food is so good. read more

Wouldn't go here again. Waitress totally forgot our drinks. Drinks were brought around 15 min when meal came out (only cause we reminded the waitress). The guac was the blandest I've ever had. I specifically asked the waitress for black beans in my burrito - burrito arrived with pinto beans. I told the waitress this is not what I ordered, she then took the plate to the back and mixed in a few black beans in the same burrito I had just said I didn't want. I came to this restaurant for a different reason, little did I know that I was going to fall in love not only with the owners and the people that work here but also the amazing food that they have. I highly recommend their pineapple and cucumber natural juice, it's refreshing and healthy. While here I ordered the chicken tacos, you can get the chicken breaded or grilled regardless of your choice they taste delicious. Outstanding food! The intoxicating aroma of fresh, handmade corn tortillas greets you even before you enter the large and spotless restaurant. My latest favorite is the carnitas tacos because the pork is so tender, so juicy, and so perfectly seasoned. The sweet grilled corn that is rolled in mayonnaise, covered with cheese and spicy chili powder, and then served on a stick is a traditional street treat that is fun, savory, and guaranteed to leave you wanting more. All the tamales I've tried are delicious, too -- they're packed with authentic Mexican fillings and flavors and the masa is never grainy or dry. Their salsa verde is so good I could practically drink it. And speaking of drinks, they make a cucumber drink that is so light and refreshing that I wish they sold it by the gallon. The staff at Las Marias makes you feel at home right away and everything is served with a smile. The ONLY reason why I reluctantly gave Las Marias 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that we don't always get exactly what we ordered. This has happened a few times, and I am sure it is simply due to the English/Spanish language barrier, but again...this is the only reason why I haven't given this restaurant 5 stars.
