Saturday 1/24/26- Yelp week event. It was cold and parking was -- typical of the area but I was determined to have tacos here. I brought Mini-Mi as my p+1 and hubby was our chauffer lol. First, staff is super -super nice!! helpful when trying to decide what to order. Mini Me and I both chose three tacos carne asada with the smokey roja sauce. Hubby had the same but as a burrito. For the sides we had chips and guacamole and the Mexican street corn. Drink were Horchata (Obviously). Tacos and burrito were stuffed, and absolutely delish. They have a self serve salsa bar with the three salsa, the smokey roja, salsa verde and habanero. Let me just say I tried all three- fantastic heat to flavour ration and I poured the habanero on my tacos so good! in fact the smokey roja with the salsa verde is a great combination !! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating area outside is much larger than inside, we sat inside at a table that had just become available- they do a super brisk take out business and we didn't wait very long for our food to be ready.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In fact, my husband and Mini-Me - all three of us, agreed we would for sure make the drive again to have tacos here!! If you are in the area or at school near by- you have to come here at least once, to try the food. Ever since I was introduced to Tacoria's Paramus location via a Yelp Elite event, I've been a big fan of their grilled chicken burrito. After a recent swim meet at Rutgers, I brought my kids. One is a big fan of tacos, while the other is more about quesadillas. The chicken tacos were a touch spicy for my kid, who is very sensitive to heat, and my habanero-flavored chicken burrito was brilliantly seasoned. (I love the heat!) You can never go wrong with comfort food! Burritos are definitely in my top choice of comfort food and I had the privilege of visiting Tacoria and it's grand opening week! Make sure you come at a time that parking is not busy, it was difficult to find parking, but is the food made it worth it in my opinion. My favorite part of any Mexican food restaurant is the sauce bar and Tacoria definitely did it justice. There were so many options to choice from both in your food and on the side. The outside and inside of the location look very trendy! Perfect for the cute Instagram pictures or just fun with friends. I got a cocoa on the side, in a glass bottle which always makes it better. But as I was leaving I saw they had Mexican Coke! I will definitely be back to try that as well. The chips were fresh, hot, and crispy. Amazing pairing to the endless sauces provide! The stuff was helpful and cheerful especially for coming on a Monday afternoon which I appreciate. I was craving tacos after my road trip, so I decided to get takeout. Super easy and convenient online ordering portal and short pickup time. It took me longer than I wanted to find parking (street), but my order was bagged and ready to go when I walked up. It is a small shop with the to go orders ready to go at the front. These tacos were super flavorful, juicy, and overall delicious! The pollo tinga has a little kick to it, and the pineapple on top of the Al pastor adds just the right amount of sweetness. TLDR: A pretty consistent spot similar to Chipotle but at least a few steps better. I'll continue getting the nachos and bowls when Im in the area. My girlfriend and I shared the full order of the carne asada nachos. The dish is loaded with layers of melted cheese, crema, mole, tender chunks of beef, beans, fat slices of jalapeño, and strangely enough carrots. Two points set these nachos apart for me: the toppings are layered, and the chips are fried extra crisp - they hold up against the toppings! This was a great meal to share. Ive tried a number of other items as well. Most of the foods are similar to chipotle, but slightly better quality. It is a little more expensive though. YUM. One of the better burrito's I've had in a while! I had the corn and a steak burrito. The corn was fresh, not too overcooked, and flavored well. The Spicy Aioli that was on it could've been a bit more spicy, but had great flavor. For the burrito, I enjoyed the fact that they used a flavored mexican rice vs. plain white/brown rice. It really gave the burrito more flavor overall. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender, and their guac was also well flavored. Great contemporary Mexican w/ authentic roots in an attractive space combining a beautiful outdoor seating area in the back in my old neck of woods, New Brunswick! I was lucky to have stumbled upon a Tacoria on my recent visit to NB - I loved the al pastor burrito - full of juicy meat and their side guac is a must in my opinion to accompany it because it adds that fresco factor to this otherwise bit dry fare. The notes of pineapple in the al pastor was well noted, and the guac was super fresh & tasty. Only thing I did wish for was for them to put a bit less rice because towards the edge, that's all there was. (thus deducting a star) They have array of salsas up front with to-go sauce cups for your dining convenience so I tried their most popular - habanero, and it was a BURST of spicy kick and flavor which I loved. One point I must mention that begs you to come in is their outdoor seating. It's generously-sized with several wooden picnic tables & benches for spacious dining experience and the open root with birds chirping and even a fountain in the front really added to my enjoyment. They even have a washing basin with dryer on the way out which just shows you their thoughtfulness in putting this location together, as eating Mexican can often get messy! I enjoyed their food up in Paramus location two years ago, and this location further cements their reputation as an above-chipotle fare that is reasonably priced and the locations always tastefully decorated. Tacoria has been one of my favorite spots in the Rutgers area since I was a freshman. The golden avocado burrito is my all-time FAVORITE. I have also tried the al pastor burrito, as well as the pollo asado burrito, and they also hit. Not to mention, the outdoor seating is SO. COOL. There is outdoor seating in the back that include tables and benches great for both small and medium-sized groups. (I've never had to wait for a table.) The space includes plants and swings (!!) and a whole sink. OH and the coolest part? The roof opens up during the summer. I highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting the Rutgers area. read more

Tacoria has been one of my highlighted places for great Tex-Mex food. Located on the popular busy main strip on Easton Avenue in New Brunswick, I fretted about finding parking. I couldn't have been more wrong as I found metered street parking.  No worries about not having a pocketful of change.  The meters are linked to the Parkmobile app.  A quick download from the App store and some fumbling with creating an account, I was on my way to Tacoria. This awesome app even alerted me when I had 10 minutes remaining on the meter and gave you the option of extending your metered time. Inside, Tacoria is cozy but utterly charming. Practicing social distancing can be a challenge but staff will direct a potential crowd situation to wait outside. They have a menu hanging down from the ceiling and if you still can't decide on what to order, the cashiers are exceptionally friendly in making some suggestions. After ordering, they will hand you a hand-held device which vibrates when your order is ready.  You can choose to either wait outside or view your order being created in the open kitchen, provided crowds are at a minimum.  I elected to watch my order being created since nobody was nearby. During COVID times, the line-chefs were gloved and properly masked and all staff were properly masked. My order was for both a burrito and burrito box, and were made fairly quickly. As I watched them making the food, I noticed the team had a great rhythm, both efficient and effective, at getting the orders built and packaged.  As I watched my order being built, I noticed the freshness of the rice, beans, Spanish rice and chicken. Juices were dripping from the chicken as it was loaded atop of the base layers. Made in-house, I asked for extra habanero sauce which is made fresh daily. The portions are huge and are easily shareable. Seating is not available at this time, nor is the usage of the restrooms. Due to the pandemic, takeout is the only option. They honor both charge and cash. The items are packed neatly and securely. Surviving a 40 minute ride, everything was intact just as it was at the eatery. I wish I can say that for all the take out foods we have gotten from other eateries. The food was AMAZING, even after enduring the commute home.  If the food tastes this good after traveling for 40 minutes, can you imagine how delicious it will be if it's eaten at the place? I'm drooling just thinking about it. I'm counting the days until dine-in is allowed again. Until then, take-out it is!! I can't wait to be back as I fell in love with this place! read more

A MUST TRY spot if you're ever in the Rutgers/New Brunswick area. From the delicious food to the gorgeous patio views, Tacoria is a local favorite!! I've been coming here at least every few months to satisfy my cravings for Mexican food and the quality has only gone up! My absolute favorite protein choice is the Pollo Tinga -- perfect if you love spicy food! But any of their proteins (including the Chorizo, Pollo Asado, and Carne Asada) are great options. Their food is so filling and worth the price! I usually get the Mission-Style Burrito, which is the biggest burrito you will ever see! They stuff the burrito full of fresh, delicious ingredients and I'm able to use it for two meals. If you're looking for something easier to eat, they also have a Burrito Box option! Their Hand Crafted Tacos and Quesadilla Suiza are also so tasty. But one of my favorite dishes is the Viva La Nachos! The nachos are so crispy and perfect for scooping the chicken, cheese, and peppers. If you want to split the nachos with some friends, get the full size for $13 and it will be more than enough! Tacoria also has VEGAN options, a kids menu, and Nutella Nachos! I haven't tried these yet but will definitely do so when I'm looking to try something new. And if you're thirsty, try the any of their Jarritos flavors!! Tacoria also had several salsas to choose from, made delicious & fresh. Not available right now, but I hope they bring these back soon! The line can get pretty long sometimes because the tacos are so good but it move pretty quickly. Before COVID, they had indoor dining at the back of the restaurant which is a heated garden and it's super cute for pictures. They also have cute swings to take pictures by. The also have indoor dining inside the restaurant but it's right by the bathrooms. I do recommend trying all of their sauces on the tacos because they are homemade and tastes so good when dipped with tacos. I also recommend trying their drinks but they can be a bit expensive. Overall, the price of the tacos are decent but they are packed with protein. I also recommend trying the fried avocados because it's is so good. read more

Some of the best tacos I've ever had! Tacoria is a quick walk from the hospital and a popular lunch spot so you'll likely have to wait in line around then. The line moves quickly though and your food comes out quickly as well! I tried the pulled chicken tacos which, were incredibly flavorful with lots of garlic and lime. Guac is a must add. Went to Tacoria with a friend for dinner around 7:45 and we waited 20 minutes just to get our order, which for me was just one taco! They seemed to prioritize delivery orders and despite it being rush hour, I was frustrated how long I had to wait for my order. Each taco is $4, which for the quality and taste wasn't worth it. If you're in the central Jersey area and craving some amazinnnng mexican food, make sure you stop by tacoria! From the outside you might think its a little hole in the wall kind of location - and the inside seating is pretty small- but they have a BEAUTIFUL patio in the back that they've revamped over the years. They've got table/benches type seating, and they're all in different pastel colors. They've got some bench swings in the back that offer a trendy vibe. There's a mirror with some wording on it and a clean sink for you to wash your hands. I absolutely love that the patio is covered, has fans, gives a great amount of light still and has beautiful greenery. I got a smaller plate or a "pie" as they call it of the nachos- so DELICIOUS. The chips are a little thicker than normal. You can tell they are freshly made. They literally taste like little fried tortillas -- these are literally my favorite kind of chips EVER. The pie size is enough to completely fill one person, maybe have some left over too depending on how hungry you are. The nachos are Hand Cut Tortillas topped with Black Beans, Protein (I chose the fried avocado), Salsa, Cheese, Crema and Escabeche Pepper (which add a good kick without being too spicy). The crema is tangy and ever so slightly spicy and it was the perfect addition to the nachos. This came out to $8 for me, which is pretty affordable and reasonable for the portion size. The Quesadilla is also amazing! Its basically like a burrito, but they make it crispy and hot on the sides. The quesadilla has Protein (which I usually get the fried avocado for), Cheese, Salsa, Crema in a Flour Tortilla. The price for this is $8.25. The best part is the house made sauces that are available. There are 4 different flavors - habanero (which was the hottest), a mild, medium and a roasted sauce too. I recommend grabbing them all! They have tiny plastic containers that you can add these sauces too and take back to your table. Also, once you order at the register, they give you a little light up device that tells you when your food is ready! I love being able to sit and chat as I wait for my food. Usually, it never takes too long. I love how fast the service is and everyone who works there is super nice. They've got a bunch of different drinks that are made in house as well, make sure you give them a try if you're in the mood! The only challenge is parking - its pretty limited so I'd leave a few extra minutes to find it.
