Las Palapas is an average tex-mex chain. It is casual, with your typical chips and salsa brought to the table, booths and tables, outdoor seating if preferred. Service is hit or miss, most of the time we get a good server, but this location tends to get busy. It is cold inside the restaurant, every time we have visited. The chips were good in the past, but lately they have been changed! The "new" chips arrive to the table with tiny, broken pieces, barely large enough to dip into salsa or queso! Sadly, too, as the salsa and queso are amazing! Hopefully they realize this and go back to what was desirable in chip world. Margaritas - the house margarita on the rocks hits the spot! Enchiladas are always good, verde, mole, con crema, gravy sauce - and the chicken is very good, tender and seasoned well. The hostess wasn't super friendly when she sat us down. She made an inappropriate comment. Our waiter Job was great! He was very attentive and has some good recommendations. We ordered the quesadillas, tacos, and enchiladas. I appreciated all the meat inside the quesadillas. It was loaded! This was our first time visiting and enjoyed the food. read more

My wife and I had a nice 11am Mexican brunch at the Boerne, TX Herff Road location on Monday, July 13, 2026. Our server was Michaela and she did a great job! Our dine-in order was filled accurately and served quickly. Michaela was very pleasant and attentive and the food was delicious! This review is gonna be short & sweet. I started with the Margarita of the month which happens to be my favorite Margarita, strawberry (frozen as is my want). GIt was excellent. Then I had Angus beef fajita tacos with grilled onions. It was excellent. He'll, even the WiFi was excellent. See the (excellent) trend. We sat outside on an excellent 80 degree Saturday evening. They always seem very disorganized and rushed. Food is usually over done. Tonight I shrimp nachos, shrimp was rubbery and tough. Waited a good while to be seated when there were plenty of open seats and booths available. We had to wait for the hostess to to finish her conversation because the four other waiters/waitresses didn't bother to let her know we there. We had Las Palapas cater our wedding rehearsal dinner. They were out of this world outstanding from start to finish. They showed up and had everything set up beautifully and were on top of every single thing. The team were all very professional/classy and made the evening ambiance flow and easy. on top of that, we had legit the best fajitas any of us have ever had and we've lived in San Antonio most of our lives! The chocolate covered churros were a hit at the end of the night as well! I highly highly highly recommend using them as caterers and would even say that you should consider them for your wedding itself! I don't leave a lot of reviews, but this was note worthy! read more

I just gotten back from a two week trip overseas. Was totally looking forward to some Mexican food. Ordered some takeout from Las Palapas in Boerne. I got the Carne Asada burrito. It was so salty I couldn't even eat it. I don't know if it was the gravy on top of it or what but something was so salty. It was disgusting. I threw it out. Las Palapas is a great place to go for great Tex-Mex! They consistently have delicious food. I have been many times, in fact its our "go to" restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner on any given day. One time I was there for lunch with my dad and his carne guisada had large pieces that were very tough, so unlike them. When he told the waiter, a new serving came out and it was all tender beef pieces. So I think it was just a fluke thing! We like their alcoholic beverage choices as well. All in all, the servings are generous, always delicious and the location is clean and the waitstaff is always amazing! read more

Service was good/friendly up until I was given a torn and very damaged coffee cup. As I went to pick it up, it spilled all over my hand and truck. I like this place for cheap tacos and decent food quality. But today kinda dissatisfied with the coffee incident at the Boerne location. The food here is very good. The crunchy tacos I ordered were fresh, hot, and delicious. Las Palapas has counter service, and the people taking my order were very friendly. The restaurant is kind of a typical Mexican food decor, but plenty of seating and it's comfortable. This is a great place for quick tex-mex. read more

The need to rethink their "Drive-thru Take out" window service. It takes 30-45 minutes from getting in line to order to driving off with food order. You can probably go inside , sit, order and finish your meal in less time. I called to give my concern and comments but manager was not taking calls!! Quite simple Solution: people with large orders that slow down the Drive-thru line should pay for their order at window and then be directed to wait at "curve side" parking slots till their order read. This will move drive thru service and customers with small orders are not frustrated with long wait. Food is good but SERVICE is terribly unacceptable that can lead to losing loyal customer. It was my first time trying out this location and I was so excited. During fiesta I stopped to get a chicken on a stick. I work so much I didn't have time to actually go to fiesta and I live in Boerne. I started eating it on the way home and noticed the texture was so off. I looked and was appalled that the inside of the chicken wasn't cooked throughly. I felt queasy and sure enough got a bad stomach ache. I called and spoke to the manager who said he would reimburse my whole receipt. Okay awesome. But the charge posted to my account. I called my bank and asked them to verify with the manager that I indeed should of gotten my money back. Just recently I was notified by my bank that they never confirmed that. This will not be the best Tex-Mex you'll ever have. BUT it is a solid choice to weary travelers staying at the hotel directly across the street. ;) Drinks are good and the menu is extensive. Unfortunately, not a lot of positive things to say about this location. We've been regulars at the Leon Springs location for many years. But, it's far from our house. So, we were excited when the new location was announced and opened in Boerne. It's been one bad experience after another. The first few times we went, they were actually closing or closed even though their hours on the door indicated something different. Then tonight for the first time, we actually were able to go. The service was really good. We had Julian as our waiter, he was the only really point of light. Other than that the food was bland, the avocados were literally black, the food was lukewarm, the atmosphere was loud, the restaurant was dirty, the bathroom had paper towels overflowing the trash.
