After reading the great things about this place I had to chance to try the fideo and it did not disappoint! It was great, and all the crazy ingredients made it loco! Highly recommend this place. This was the best bowl of fideo I've had!

The Fish Tacos for Ash Wednesday were fantastic! Keep up the great work!

Best place in town for barbecue with a smoked twist! Best Mexican food with a touch a Boerne! Hands down the best smoked burgers in Texas! Be sure to check out their Facebook for daily specials. Therepuffy tacos were out of this world:)

This is truly a hidden gem in Boerne, one of those restaurants that don't get talked about as much as the others. The food, and the people, especially the owners are amazing! This place is a stand out, especially with the lack of great food in Boerne.

I reserve my 5 star reviews for places that provide absolutely exceptional service, food that is beyond comparison, etc. Compadres earns my 5th star because of the outstanding work they do in and for the community, especially for veterans. Chef Mark has created an awesome place with excellent food that happily melds traditional tex-mex foods with South Texas BBQ flavors. Be sure to come early as they do tend to run out!

Mesquite Chicken Tacos Al Carbon & Enchilada Mac.

Well damn. First time in today and just wasn't blown away like I thought I was going to be. Ended up getting the Chicken Al Carbon tacos. Don't get me wrong the chicken was seasoned well, cooked to perfection and delicious. But chicken on a tortilla with cilantro...I guess I should have paid attention to what I was ordering. It needs zhuzh, like maybe some of the enchilada Mac with a bit of queso fresco and green sauce and crema. Portion was spot on, I ate everything but the beans...beans need something to liven them up as well. Tasted like they were straight out of a can. The rice was different, I think it's smoked but it was delicious. And the enchilada Mac, purdy darn good. Just can't get over the tacos, sometimes less is more but not in this case.

Been frequenting this establishment for years and have never had a bad experience or lunch! Service is absolutely the best, food is amazing but the emphasis on the Military is unbelievable! If you haven't been here, plan a trip to Boerne, TX. Chef Mark is absolutely awesome and his story (Tx Bucket List) is nothing short of incredible!

Outstanding food! The beef asada taco plate are incredible! Slow smoked beef so it gets incredibly tender and a flavor to die for. Birria taco plate also great! Both sets of tacos are filled to the max with meats that will leave you ready for a football and a nap. Veteran owned with a laid back and comfortable place to have a great meal.

Molleja Tacos with rice and beans

Been wanting to visit this place out in Boerne for a while now and today finally had my chance. Popular on social media, Chef Mark announced days before that today's mid-week lunch service would include mollejas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweetbread?wprov=sfti1) and I wasn't about to miss my chance again. Upon arriving just after noon, the small-ish restaurant tucked away behind the town square resembled the kind of place I like to frequent to get authentic Mexican food. I would not be disappointed. The INTERIOR of the veteran-owned restaurant was clean and very colorful with plenty of tables. The lively dining room was about 3/4 full when I arrived and the sound of Tejano music coming from the speakers was comforting to my soul. Rather than table service, I was directed to the counter to order and pay for my food and then took a seat at a small table. The food arrived literally seconds after I sat down. The SERVICE from the staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. The FOOD. The mollejas were served in a two-taco plate along with two small styrofoam cups of rice and beans. Plasticware was provided after I ordered at the counter. Considering the price point for a two-taco plate and a small drink, I was expecting a little more, but this was about the food. The (smoked) mollejas were ultimately delicious bringing back memories of my dad making them for me and our family when I was a kid. They were flavorful, juicy and a little smoky. The healthy addition of pico de gallo and the delicious guacamole on the tacos provided a perfect balance and a "party-in-my-mouthful". I wish I could say more about the rice and beans that accompanied the tacos. They weren't MY favorite, but I'm not from the RGV (Rio Grande Valley) where I understand the recipes and flavor profile of the food here were born. That said, I thought both lacked some flavor and could have used additional Mexican spices. Given the higher price point for the meal overall, I could presume that it has to do with the location in Boerne... or it could be the be that the restaurant is only open for lunch service six days a week (closed Sundays), but given the very special menu items Chef Mark incorporates into his regular menu, it was a decent VALUE. I can't wait to see what's coming to the menu next!

Made with bacon and cheese!! Fantastic!!

This place is Awesome!!! I was 1 of the lucky ones to snag Chef Marks incredible burger!! This monstrosity of a masterpiece was so good!! Juicy and flavorful!! I was 1st in line because "If you're not 1st, You're last" (Ricky Bobby). They sold out in 20 minutes or less!! Everything they make is 100% the best in the city!!

Food was good but felt it was too expensive. We did have leftovers but didn't take with us. We mainly felt good to support a veteran.

We walked around on the grounds and noticed that there is a separate patio and a bathroom with seating outside. The women's bathroom was clean. Now to the restaurant. We walked in the restaurant and it wasn't very big. You could see the menu on the wall, the ordering counter was close, the food pickup counter was next to the ordering counter, the seating was in the middle, and the bar at the other end. After walking in and checking out the menu we walked up to the ordering counter. The person that took our order was friendly and patient with me. I wanted the El Burger that was listed on the menu but I didn't notice that it's only available on Wednesdays. The person told me that so I checked the menu out again to see what burger I wanted. I decided on LeRoy's Smash Burger which comes with smashed brisket patties, pickles, bacon & onion jam. I ordered mine without cheese. It came with a choice of a side so my husband and I picked the potato salad to share. I also wanted to try the Smoked Pork Belly Menudo which substitutes the traditional tripe meat with smoked pork belly. This came with onions, cilantro, and chopped jalapenos that you could add if you wanted. My husband and I decided to share LeRoy's Nachos which has tortilla chips covered in beans, queso, avacado, pico, crema, salsa, BBQ sauce and jalapenos. These come with your choice of meat and we decided on brisket. My husband ordered one taco to try called Chancho La Panza which comes with pork belly, beans, cilantro, and queso fresco. The Food. LeRoy's Smash Burger was delicious. I liked the flavor of the meat and the jam. The potato salad had a mustard flavor to it which I didn't mind. The Nachos were tasty. The BBQ sauce in them gave them a hint of sweetness in the midst of all of the saltier ingredients. The Menudo was spicy. I wasn't expecting it to be so hot but it was tolerable. The smoked pork belly mixed in the soup was good. There was also a crunchy texture mixed in that added to the experience. I tried my husband's pork taco and it was delightful. There was so much flavor packed into a single taco. Overall the experience was positive. The restaurant was small but comfortable, the service was good and the food was fresh and delicious.

I decided to stay in the city longer to check out this place. This restaurant is huge and the wait was 45 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. We used our waiting time to stroll through the Mercado across the way. Once the table was ready, my friend got a text. I always wanted to try menudo every Mexican restaurant I go to. But not until I saw the sign on the back cover. This restaurant is under the same owner as Pico de Gallo. Omg. I just had their menudo the day before. No thanks. I decided to order fajita chicken salad. The portion was really small. The food only filled a half of the fried salad bowl. I asked to put cheese on the side. It may had it look more but I don't eat cheese as much. I was glad that dressing was on the side. Which was too salty for me. So, if the food was the same as other chain, we could have eaten there which was closer to the hotel. But I noticed the difference was the servers. Our waitress was cuter and very polite. My friends kept teasing her. She kept good manner and responded back with a smile "uhhh no". Hahaha.

The colorful decor hits you and you're transported. I ordered the "Mexican Dinner" with chicken enchilada, pork tamal, beef taco with beans and rice. Also had a side order of fresh handmade tortillas. Paloma to wash it all down. Everything tasted great. My server was excellent. Patient and helpful with recommendations. The mariachi band was fun and they roamed the restaurant and bar to play, so chances are that if they aren't singing at your table then they're nearby.

There's such a wonderful selection, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. As parents with notoriously picky eaters, we especially appreciate how accommodating the staff is - it's such a relief to know that our kids can also find something yummy with just a quick chat with the staff member. That really makes a difference for a family outing! And oh my goodness, the appetizers are simply fantastic. We couldn't get enough! I also have to give a special shout-out to the Carrajillo I ordered.
