The n the way back to San Antonio, stopped by this place based upon the Yelp reviews. We ordered the beef puffy tacos, as that seemed to be the most unique item on the menu. They were good, fresh, crunchy, and good. It was served with rice and beans. They also provide a homemade salsa which is not spicy, but they offer Tabasco and other jarred salsas to perk it up. Very very rude and unprofessional staff. Will not ever be going here again. Was treated very rude for not tipping on pick up order. The manager has no issues with his staff being complete unprofessional jerks and ended up giving us a very passive aggressive grin as we walked out. The main server there Jason, can be disgusting and repulsive. He had his butt crack hanging out while trying to eat in some very under sized clothes and have witnessed a few times where sanitation was not at all taken seriously. Even watched him lick his fingers before grabbing a hot plate. DISGUSTING!! Liked there burritos have been going for a few years but after being treated so rudely and witnessing these things over time I wanted to YELP my bad review. 0 STARS! Gross, unprofessional and dirty place. Save your money and go across the street, much better food for the same prices without some bloated jerk screaming at the customer for not tipping on a pickup. We're from SATX driving by and decided to give this place a try. We're glad we did. The food is delicious! We had the Vaquero plate which is big and hearty. The Eva were fluffy and flavorful, bacon cooked crispy like we like it and lots of it. We also had 2 tacos: the bacon, bean and cheese was so yummy. The beans were fresh and very flavorful. The lengua taco was tender and delicious. Asked for it to be cooked with ranchero sauce and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and friendly and the restaurant was clean and pleasant. Would not go back there. It wasn't very clean. As soon as you walk in there's seating area, but garbage can was full, didn't sit there. The food was not the best. Being a part-time Comfort-Sisterdale resident, I've gone to this eatery many times. Friends and neighbors rave about the food all the time, so, to keep the family Thanksgiving tradition of eating Tex-Mex food before the big meal on Thursday, we decided to eat inside at Los Jarros instead of carry-out. The dining area has expanded since the last time we were here pre-pandemic. The food is fresh and hot - I like that a lot! The food serving size is not as big as city size - but there's enough to make you full and warm in the tummy and that's enough. I got puffy tacos: they were not soppy-greasy, they were light, crispy and the shredded chicken was seasoned like a 5 star restaurant. I could taste bay leaf and sweet tomato on the shredded chicken. Delicious! The refried beans were legit. The rice, I could taste the chicken broth and tomato. Everything was as it should be. The person that suggested we eat there said it's consistently this good. THEY FRY THEIR OWN CHIPS! The salsa and chips were outstanding. So it's no surprise the building and facade need some help but the food is so good I do not care! So we popped in here for lunch and after a few days with the flu, I was hoping some chips and salsa might help me rebound. We walk in and the place has an immediate dirty look to it, it looked like someone invited you over for dinner but forgot cleaning was part of cooking. We sit down and waited a solid ten minutes before a waiter comes by for our drink order. It's busy and they were short staffed so we tried to be understanding. That was until we asked for chips and salsa for the table and were rudely told that they were out. Rather, he said we don't have it, without further explanation. We we asked later about queso, we were finally told they were out of chips. I hope I'm not being too rude here with my misunderstanding, but ai have loved most of my life in south Texas and this is the first time a Mexican restaurant has been out of chips. I spent a year in china, and even Mexican restaurants there managed to have chips. Also, only the first basket is free. So the second one will cost you even if your party is one or 75. After that first basket, you pay for whatever the chips taste like, can't tell you, and warm tomato paste salsa. Name one other "Mexican" place that charges you for chips, I'll wait. If you want salsa, make sure they clean the salsa bottle before they drop it off, or it will show up with the sour cream from two tables ago. The food showed up quickly which was a redeeming quality. It was bland, tasteless mush. A poor excuse for Mexican food. If you want "authentic" Mexican food, I'd go to Taco Bell over this place - at least they'll have chips. read more

We have been coming here for a handful of years and it is always delicious. The place is clean, the food is yummy, and service is good. We're grateful that the servers will check on you to see if you need anything once they have served you, and they are kind. I especially love going for breakfast because they have the best huevos rancheros with a side of bacon I've ever had. If you like corn tortillas, they are homemade and fresh. lunch and dinner are delicious as well! It is family-owned and I love when I see their kids join in during the summertime or when they are off from school to help with the family business. This place is a great hill country treasure of family, culture, and feeding their community well. Well done! read more

This is a local small business, ran by owners, affordable prices, and delicious. The atmosphere and the staff they've had for a long time is through the roof.. they've added a recent patio with music. And they bring a lot to the community to keep small businesses alive. I eat here often. read more

We dined in once and then did a Togo order. When you dine in, one basket of chips and salsa are free, you have to pay for additional ones. We did a Togo order the next day, we were charged .30 cents extra for our Togo order. Had we "dined in" and then doggy bagged our tacos home, we wouldn't have been charged additional and gotten chips & salsa. While .30 cents is nothing, I find it odd that a business would charge their customers extra who do not create extra labor (ex: cleaning the table or dishes after we're done eating, and having a waitress bring us more water, etc.) and save them on chips & salsa. However, the tacos we got were delicious, that's why we came back for more to take home as we are visiting Comfort. read more

We had a disappointing visit to Los Jarros for dinner. We were greeted when we arrived and told to sit anywhere. As we picked a table we noticed that there were several tables that were not bussed, which is usually not a good sign and certainly not a good first impression. And the interior, especially the floor, just wasn't as clean as it should have been. Chips and salsa arrived, and the flavor was OK, nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered a cup of Posole as an appetizer, and they were out of Posole, a major disappointment. Instead, I asked for a cup of chili as an appetizer and had the Picadillo for the main meal. The chili arrived with the main meal and our server shrugged and said "they sent it out that way." Well, OK...I will say the chili was full of grease, floating on top of the bowl. And, the Picadillo was also extremely greasy. My wife had carne asado and her dish was pretty good, my food was just too greasy. When we went to pay the cashier was pretty grumpy and seemed put out to be working. Not a place we will visit again. read more

We stayed in Confort on a Tuesday night. Most restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday. Los Jarros is one of the few places that are open. There was another restaurant across the street that was open. We chose this places based of reviews and the owner of our B&B recommendation. They recommended 4 restaurants and had menus in our casita. Interestingly when we pulled into the parking lot, it was full. The outside was an older building with a drive thru. The restaurant across the street was in a large newer and nicer building but there were only four cars. We ordered the Chile rellano with beef, grilled shrimp fajita, and green chicken enchilada. The batter around the Chile was eggy but delicious. I typically remove the batter but not this time. This was the best beef Chile rellano I have ever had. I wondered if they were consistent with the way they cook and the flavor. I'm thinking of getting it for lunch tomorrow. The shrimp fajita did not disappoint too. My favorite shrimp fajita is from Los Ranchos, NM. Still is. This is a close 2nd. I didn't try the enchilada but my husband liked it. I don't like rice or retried beans, but they have good refried beans because it had a smoky flavor. We were pleasantly surprised with the flavor of their food. I would recommend this place even on days other restaurants are open. There's a reason why locals eat here. read more

Came to Comfort to meet my friend who's a trucker. The 1st restaurant I looked at was closed. The 2nd one was open but no customers. Stopped in for breakfast tacos to go. Locals told me this is one of three places to get breakfast in Comfort. The breakfast tacos were good and fresh. Service was fast and friendly. The picadillo was not greasy, which was a nice surprise. It's a local hang out for the older cowboys/cowgirls in the mornings, yawning, opening their eyes over coffee and reading the newspaper. We grabbed some breakfast tacos from their drive thru. Sadly the window man wasn't wearing a mask though the other employees seemed to be. What's the point if you don't also wear a mask? The tacos were great, all good and we put them in the oven to rewarm and washed the salsas containers with soap and water when we got home to kill any extra germs. Hey, I hate we are in a pandemic too! I hate masks and not being able to socialize with anyone but my hubby! I can't even see my senior mom. However, we are doing our part, wearing masks and trying to keep you and yours safe! It's an easy thing to do!!
