We stopped by mainly because I was craving their salsa blanca dip, which they seem to only have in Virginia. This location was convenient since we just left the Oceanfront and it was only a short drive getting there. I know they've expanded to several locations over the past few years, but the original spot off Princess Anne Rd, is still my favorite. There's just something about the vibe there - it feels more authentic and relaxed compared to the newer ones. For my meal, I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos. They were pretty standard and overloaded with cilantro. Asides from that, the flavor was good enough for a casual lunch. The star of the show were the margaritas which set our meal over the top and had a really nice kick to it! Overall, it's a laid-back, place. Even with all their new locations, the original still hits differently, and I'll definitely be back again soon. read more

The $20 squid appetizer was commercial right out of the bag and the squid was tough , tiny dried out over breaded and overcooked and bland. It was also a much smaller serving than the picture shows. My taco was a burnt overcooked non homemade shell with loose dry hamburger meat and nothing else. They give you a whole bunch of mediocre tasting weird tasting tortilla chips and a tiny skimpy amount of dipping sauce. The drinks are overpriced and expensive. The beans and rice are ",meh". The service is friendly and attentive but the food is really stinkeroo. read more

Our favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach, and one of the best, if not THE best, Mexican restaurants we've ever been to! My wife and I discovered Las Palmas a couple of years ago during our yearly vacation at VA Beach. We always get the fajitas for two - the portions are HUGE. More than enough for the two of us and our toddler. But it's not just the quantity of food that blows us away, it's that their fajitas are so damn flavorful. Service is top notch too - we are always greeted promptly with chips and salsa, and the waiters are attentive during the meal without being overly so. We also went to the Las Palmas on the 16th and Atlantic, and there the portions weren't quite as epic, plus the prices were a little higher (no doubt, paying for the view). I see they have a location in Richmond that we've never been to. Here's hoping that they come to NOVA one day! read more

Me and my coworkers often come to this establishment to hang out in the outside patio area to eat, drink, and play our board games. And I tell you the people here at Las Palmas put up with us! Nicest people ever. There are some good food and drinks here as well. To start they make their own fresh guacamole dip in front of you table side. How great is that? My entree of choice is the Sizzling Steak and Shrimp Fajita. That hits all the right spots after a long day at work. From what my coworkers tell me the Strawberry Margarita is amazing. I really am simple and just drink Coronas so I'll definitely take their word for it. There are so many options on their menu you really can't go wrong. Most items are around $16-$20 which is fair considering how well everything is cooked and the portion you are getting in your meal. Margaritas range anywhere from small to Mega size. Went with a group of friends and had an amazing time! We started by sharing the queso fundido and really enjoyed it. The cheese was bubbling and it had lots of chorizo. I had the Molcajete as my main and it is probably my new favorite Mexican dish! It had so many meats: shrimp, steak, chicken and smoked sausage. It also had fried stuffed jalapeños. I really enjoyed the nopales, grilled cactus, which were similar to green peppers, but had more of a tangy taste. The best part was that all of the above was sitting a bed of warm melted cheese. So I've had take out from this location and I've dined in, I will say I probably preferred the take out. Take out was ready promptly and pick up was super easy. The food is very good, pretty typical stuff for a Mexican restaurant in Hampton Roads. You get bottomless chips, salsa, and white sauce. They put us in a very small booth that didn't give us a ton of room, but it was fine. The wait staff were very friendly but we had to wait quite a while for our drinks and then for our food to come out. The quesabirria was very good, but the tortilla was just a bit soggy :/ Everyone else really loved their food - they got the fajitas and a chicken torta. A spur of the moment decision to get Mexican food had us here at Las Palmas 3 one night around 9pm. The restaurant was quite busy and noisy upon our arrival, but the staff were in great spirits and quickly took our orders. My boyfriend ordered a jumbo lime margarita which was strong ! He enjoyed it. He drank it while we waited for our meals to come out - and we munched on the chips, dips, and queso. The chips always came out piping hot and the cheese dip was tasty with a bit of spice. I also enjoyed their white sauce! Our meals - his Burrito Grande, a cheese-smothered burrito stuffed with shrimp and peppers, and my 3 shrimp tacos topped with cabbage and pico with 3 tasty dips (I wasn't really sure what they were, but they were spicy!) - came out after about 20 minutes, which was decent timing given the volume of patrons at the restaurant. He loved the burrito - the shrimp was cooked perfectly and it was all around very flavorful and filling. My shrimp tacos were pretty good - I got guacamole salad to top my tacos with lettuce and other non-traditional toppings and a side of sour cream which was a generous size. The tacos themselves were pretty small. They were pretty good but pricey as well. Honestly, everything was pretty expensive. Overall, this was a pretty good experience as they were open, close-by, and the service was great. I may only find myself here again if it's the only option, though. read more

Tone of rudeness throughout. did not like feeling rushed, with a few other tables to attend to. It wasn't like it was on the oceanfront. Avocados were cool - I would rather have my avocados/guacamole at roomed temperature rather than chilled. They're a fruit and I think refrigeration drains sweetness/flavor, but the restaurant probably just wants to extend their shelf-life. Additionally, it was under mashed. Someone walked by and asked if it was good; we said we've had better. Tipped the tableside guacamole guy $3 and he did not say thank you. We ordered waters to start, not a favorite move for the server. But the small skinny marg started at $14, and regardless of if you think your table will tip well or not, it's not classy to be rude. There was an undercurrent of pressure and attitude from the three waiters we interacted with. The salsa was a 5. Tortilla chips a 2. Didn't try the white ranchy-looking sweet sauce, but dad didnt like it. My father ordered a Modelo Negra. Walking out I smiled at our server and he did not smile back. $29 for the beer and guac in total. Guess the days of a $5 plate of Mexican food and no sense of entitlement are over. read more

We came here on a whim because they other restaurant we chose was a dive, dirty and limited menu. We were so glad because as soon as you step into Las Palmas, the music, chatter and laughter was abundant. We were seated immediately and served a delicious white sauce, excellent salsa and table side guacamole made fresh. We ordered the lunch specials, fajita burrito with chicken, fajita burrito with steak and the lunch fajitas. Our waiter, Mauricio was excellent and very attentive. On a Friday night, it gets busy! With a party of 3, we honestly expected a wait but this is a location that truly knows it's crowd and how to handle it. From walking in to food on the table, it took no more than about 25 minutes tops and we weren't even rushed. As soon as we sat down our waitress had chips and salsa ready. We ordered margaritas and mannnnnnn, ain't no way these are mediums! For once in my life I couldn't not finish my drink. It was really good but it was larger than expected. Big bowl of queso aka must haves. I ordered the dinner combo with burrito and quesadilla and it was more than enough food for me, taking half of it home. Las palmas is always a great choice. You can always find one nearby and they're consistently good. We now frequent the hilltop location since it's close to us. We came around 5pm tonight and it wasn't too busy. It was packed when we left though. There were even a bunch of people eating on the patio with the fire pit and heat lamps. We saw several large parties while we were there too. Tonight, I started with the horchata and my husband got the jumbo margarita on the rocks with salt. We also started with queso fundido. The queso was delicious and we ate almost all of it before our meals came. I worn torn between the flautas mexicanas with beef or the shrimp fajita chimichangas. Both are my favorite, but I settled on the flautas. They were great and I ate all of them. That never happens. I always have extras to take home, but they hit the spot tonight and I gobbled them all up. My husband got the molcajete and ate a good portion of it. He always gets their homemade hot sauce too. I tried some and liked it and then kept dipping my flautas in them. Service was excellent. Our server was great and then others chipped in as they walked by. I don't recall what time we left, but we weren't there that long. Definitely recommend this location if you're nearby. read more

I usually don't enjoy Mexican food, but went for the deep fried ice cream (which was amazing). Got the beef quesadilla which were quite delicious. My wife loved her taco salad. The ambiance was so much fun. I felt like I was at a party. Couldn't stop dancing in my seat. And the service was second to none. Just one example, when I was almost done my drink, someone offered to replace it. In the short time he took to bring it back, 2 more other employees also offered to replace my drink. For some reason we end up not having Mexican food at the beach although we love it. So this trip was going to be different and of course we find Las Palmas via Yelp. This location is the closest to the beach so number 3 it is. We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 6:30 and they were busy. Traditional music greets you as you're walking in which adds to the vibe and atmosphere. Freshly made chips and salsa are delivered to your table right away. Loved the salsa! We opted for the table side Guacamole (with everything) and all enjoyed this app. There are so many entree options- it's a bit overwhelming. We asked our server for some help and settled on the Javier Special, Arroz Con Pollo & a California Burrito (Steak). So if the entree grilled meats were seasoned just right & all the dishes were enjoyed and excellent. Portions are huge! We also ordered the House Margarita-delicious! They have an abundant variety of options and sizes for Margaritas and cocktails including a small bar with a few stools. Lunch specials are also available. Marlon took great care of us! We love coming here often. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We know our Mexican food expectations are high and have never been disappointed with their authentic dishes. So incredibly delicious and the portions are large. We always have at least two days left to take home (who doesn't need a break from cooking?!) This Las Palmas 3 recently opened where the Virginian Steak House used to be. It is located just south of the Laskin Rd. and Virginia Beach Blvd. intersection. There is plenty of parking available. They also have some outdoor seating as well. My visit here was on September 10, 2020. When first coming in, it reminds me of how the other two Las Palmas locations are set up for the most part. We came in at an off peak time, so we were immediately seated when we came in. Social distancing measures are in place here. Almost as we were being seated, someone came to the table with the chips, salsa and white sauce. The server came by shortly after asking for what drinks we would like. Now, to the menu. The menu is the same as it is for their other two locations in the area. When the server came back with the drinks, he asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite ready yet. A few minutes later we were ready to order, but it took a while for the server to finally come back to the table. We did get the cheese dip as an appetizer. I got the Burrito California entrée and my mom got the Beef Tips Chimichangas entrée. A few moments after ordering, the cheese dip was brought to the table. We had some time to indulge in that until the entrees came out to the table. The food came out maybe ten minutes later, which was a good timing since we had the cheese dip. The food was good and is the same as if you went to one of their other locations. The portion sizes are pretty big too. The only thing that was a bit off was trying to get the attention of the server. At one point we were trying to get his attention to get some additional napkins. He was in a service area that we could see from our table and was talking with other servers in that area. We were finally able to get his attention to get those additional napkins. By the time we were done, the place was getting busier. Overall, this Las Palmas 3 is just as good as their other locations. The food was great as always with this local chain. Service was the piece that needed some work on this visit, but it wouldn't stop me from coming back again. If you are in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach and looking for a Mexican place to eat, this is definitely a viable option. read more

Popped in for lunch with my husband on a Tuesday. Plenty of parking and you can't miss the yellow building. :) Inside we were greeted and sat right away. Loved the music. Loved the inside. Bright, fun and lots of workers hustling and bustling. We ordered the #8 which was a burrito and a chalupa with rice and a #1 which was a Chile rellano, taco, beans and a guacamole salad. Service was awesome! Fast, efficient and friendly. The food....I found it bland. But I love lots of flavor. It is just as good as most Mexican restaurants in the area....maybe better but it's not authentic or full of flavor. Now....the margaritas are as big as your head with lots of flavor. Yum!!! We really enjoyed our dining experience here! Was told 30 min wait, it was 30 mins on a Saturday night but worth it! The paging service was using your cell number... super easy. While we were waiting started with the house Margareta and chips. After we were seated tried the table side guacamole made to order... very good. We ordered two kids meals, the enchiladas supreme and the enchiladas with queso. The enchiladas smothered with queso were more tasty than the supreme.
