    short ribs!
    Janice T.

I ordered the short ribs meal and a choco flan to go. The ribs were flavorful and the accompaniments were just as delicious! The owner was friendly and very helpful with explaining the desserts. Staff were friendly as well! Don't miss out on their choco flan! It's the absolute best!! Whether you're a local or visiting from out of town, it's a great way to support a local business and get some good authentic food! This particular location is close to the oceanfront off the strip away from the fray with plenty of seating. They also have a bubble waffle ice cream factory, where you can satiate your sweet tooth with ice cream and water based sweet treats, boba drinks and more! Or if you want to cook a family meal at home or in your extended stay rental, they also have a butcher shop all in the same location!! The picture of the choco flan didn't happen. I was too eager to devour it. JUST buy one! You will forever have a wonderful mental picture etched in your memories.

Burrito Supreme (Al Pastor / pineapple pork) and Sopa de Mariscos (seafood soup)

Food was delicious made to order (hot) and service was friendly and helpful. Came in 1/2 hour before they closed due to travel delays and they didn't rush us. Added cheese dip after our food arrived. We would definitely go back on our next visit. Highly recommended.

This being the first place we tried coming straight out of San Diego.. Food was extremely bland & inauthentic. Tortillas weren't even cooked. Food needs more love. I've given 2 stars only bc of the young girl helping us. Very nice and attentive, though shy :)

I ordered fresh tortillas, and tres leches and a flan. The tortillas were good, I wish they had fresh flour tortillas too. The flan was insanely amazing, hands down the best flan I've had! But the tres leches was sadly not that great. I would highly recommend getting their flan.

Today I ordered the same thing I usually do. A California burrito with lengua and chorizo. As I nearly finished the burrito I bit into something hard. I was confused because neither of those meats are tough at all. I pulled the object out of my mouth and inspected it. It turned out to be a piece of paper rolled up tightly.

Highly recommended by a co-worker who wanted to eat here while he was in town for the weekend for a business dinner. So we met up here at this unassuming spot. They have a few more but this small, nondescript strip mall location is supposed to be one of the best (is it the first?) so here we were. It's small and dive-y inside but wasn't too crowded and we were immediately sat at a table in the back and assisted by a friendly and prompt server who was quick on the draw with all requests. My friend ordered a margarita (I don't drink) and the Huarache Campechano - a huge hand-made corn tortilla, Oaxaca melted cheese, cilantro, sour cream, and carne asada and chorizo on top. It was gigantic, he liked it but didn't love it. I ordered the queso to go with our chips and salsa because, you always have to and went with a veggie sampler and was able to try three different veggie takes on some of the favs like toastadas and such. It was good but not spectacular. They have a large menu and have breakfast burritos, seafood, beef, chicken, veggie options, desserts, tons of drinks, etc. I'd love to come back and give a few more things a try on a future visit!

Stopped in to get ice cream and stayed for a meal! Was greeted by Ricardo who is always kind and patient. He took the time and let my son sample different ice creams as this was his first visit. He also explained menu items and ingredients. I had my fave pica fresa and my son had the strawberry cheesecake. We decided to grab food. My son had the chicken tinga gordita and I had the torta de birria. The meat on both was extreme tender and flavorful. The bread on the torta was extremely soft and fresh. The flavor of the cilantro ands fresh onions didn't get lost in the cheese and meat on the sandwich. The consome had lots of flavor. Service was speedy and there was a constant flow of customers. The woman taking my order helped me decide which meat to select. The restaurant has a large seating area and is nice and bright. This was a nice stop on the way home from the beach. Looking forward to my next visit as there are more menu items I'd like to try.

I can't believe I live so close and have for years and have not been here. I think they have recently expanded but I felt like I was in a restaurant in Mexico. It felt very authentic. There was also really cool art on the wslls. We were a little confused on if we should go up to the counter and order or sit down and they take our order. I grabbed meus at the register and sat down. They brought chips and salsa which was definitely homemade. I got the Burrito Fajita and the Jessys Traditional margarita. My husband got a mango margarita and I believe the Burrito Supreme. The burritos were huge and I only finished half and my husband ate the whole thing but regretted it and had food coma. They came with a side of rice and beans. The burrito was good - I wish it came with more of the "salad" which is lettuce and sour cream and tomatoes. The margarita was DELICIOUS and I would go back for just the margarita. I asked for a Tajin rim and they delivered! Lots of Tajin. My husband didn't love his margarita but he sure liked mine. I would definitely go back - I want to try the tacos.

This place is amazing. We live in Newport News so we don't get over to that side very often. It is hands down the best Mexican we have had since arriving in Virginia 3 years ago. There is not a ton of seating but enough for about 10 parties. I have been here twice now and it's always got people coming and going. The food is outstanding and fresh. Their chips and salsa are really good and different. The chips are very crunchy. I have had their tacos, tamales, and cactus and all are great. The corn tacos come with two tortillas each. They have a meat, cilantro, lime, and onion. Very good! The carditas are to die for. The pork tamale had an amazing flavor and just feels like a comfort food that warms your belly and mind. The cactus was very good too. Overall the ambience is great if want some futbol, great food, and service to please. This place is so good it was a must stop for lunch on my 23d wedding anniversary. Prices are fair and so worth

I seriously wanted to fall in love with this place. I have heard great things and it's close to our new home. We ordered takeout and got an order of chips and choriqueso, arroz con pollo, burrito supreme with soft beef and chorizo, kids beef taco rice and beans, kids chicken taco rice and beans, and a kids nuggets and fries (for my middle child who doesn't like to try new things). The choriqueso lacked flavor in my opinion and it was quite watery in texture instead of thick and creamy which I have gotten elsewhere. My husbands burrito was just ok in his opinion and they forgot to add the chorizo. My arroz con pollo was ok, but not as flavorful as others I have had at other locations. The kids beef taco wasn't a hit for any of the kids. My daughter enjoyed her chicken taco, and all three kids enjoyed the nuggets and fries the most. They did provide very quick and friendly service which I appreciated. The staff wore masks minus one person in the back. There was dine-in customers separated 6+ feet apart. I will try some other menu items again and hopefully find some flavorful dishes I like.

Can never go wrong with authentic Mexican for lunch!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible. Definitely will be coming back, especially for that margarita deal and birthdays!

Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?

Believing things was about to hit smh nope.. my kid said mom I appreciate you bringing me something to eat home but.... The burger tastes like nothing was like chewing sawdust bacon was the only thing to taste alright, fries were ok though. now lol for my nachos looks can be deceiving. My lettuce was brown and wilted, was supposed to be like a refried beans I guess ‍ they were kidney beans looked those. When i say they smelled like I was taken back by the look of things but when my crazy self tasted that mess my lawdt smh had my stomach doing flips. Also the guacamole tasted like that was old and sour. I have had guac with too much lemon or lime juice in it, this was like past its time only looked ok due to the lemon juice or whatever. Will not be doing that again. The ambiance was chill a few of those slot games bar area in the middle of the place a few tables around it nothing to really hype up. I will say even though we didn't care for what we had, maybe it was a bad day. ‍ Who knows other things may be good if we stop past that beauty store again, I'd go and try the lumpia or fried fish taco. Was told that they taste really good. lol honestly y'all go be the judge for yourselves could have been an off day.
