Waiting on my Husband's business meeting and decided I had a craving for Mexican food. What kind of food will this next-to-truck stop backend road give me? I have to admit it pulling into the parking lot was daunting and I almost drove away. However, the servers were very kind to me, the micheladas are incredible and the chilaquiles were still crispy (Tell tale sign you know what you're doing). Cute diner/locals vibe inside. Almost no wait for my food, and it was fire. Do not hesitate to try this place if you're in the area!

Great afther work bar with lots of specials even free shrimp tostadas on Friday best bartenders in Fresno it's my slice of heaven !

Great Salsa. Chile Relleno was also excellent. Quick and friendly service. Bonus...reasonably priced.

Delicious authentic mexican food at a decent price. This would be my everyday lunch spot if I could have it that way. :)

Hands down, out of all of the samosas I have enjoyed, both from restaurants and homemade, the veggie samosas I devoured from MK's International Kitchen's are in my top five fav samosas and the dipping sauce is perfection. Now on to the bolitas de Yucca. I had to stop myself from eating all of the scrumptious bolitas de Yuca in one sitting because these were THAT flavorful and crispy. For the Coconut Quinoa Rice with Chipotle Coconut Steak, my friend's reaction after her first helping sums it all up--"Wow!" Marie Kay went above and beyond to demonstrate quality customer service, especially when it came to my food allergies. She even went as far as double checking the specific ingredients I'm allergic to before preparing and cooking my orders. It's still dark, with dark wood tables -- a very old-school bar in the best possible way. It had been so many years that I didn't recognize any servers, but the woman who served us was very friendly, prompt and attentive. We sat at a small table for two in the bar, and we each ordered a drink (beer for him, cider for me) and we split a full order of nachos. They also brought us water without asking which was a very nice touch. Our drinks were good (mine was in a can, so it was exactly as expected). Husband ordered a dark draft beer that he enjoyed. The nachos were good. It was a generous serving and we liked how the meat was thoroughly cooked and we also liked how the chips didn't get soggy. One thing we both noticed is that there was a real shortage of cheese on the nachos, and we both feel like that's a crucial nacho ingredient: we would have liked a significant amount more cheese. Prices were quite fair for what we got. Anyway... it was a real nostalgic trip into 'Stones and we enjoyed it: we'll be back.

Random Valentine's day dinner…read more I never expect to go out on Vday, simply because I hate the crowds and how busy it generally is everywhere-- Nonetheless, it's always nice when my bf surprises me with plans! He made reservations so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. I have been here once before, a verrrrry long time ago but only for the bar, I'm sure. Back when I was bar hopping in my twenties. Never dined here. It was definitely set to be... moody? Very dimly lit, which I don't mind. I love being in darkness lol however, there were a bunch of much older customers dining there and I saw a couple of them shine their flashlight from their phones to see the menu better. They had a decent amount of seats inside and I believe there were some outside too. Our waitress was very spunky and friendly... we liked her. He ordered the Pork Chops (extra crispy), side salad. I ordered the Pesto Ravioli, with I think... Chicken Gazpacho(?) Soup? Something like that. If you can get passed the very thick, chummy texture... it was actually pretty good-- kind of like Clam Chowder? Anyway, he really liked his salad. He thinks all salads should come with raisins lol. He enjoyed his pork Chops-- however, they were not extra crispy like he asked. The rice pilaf that came with the plate wasn't the best, neither of us cared for it (and I normally loveee rice pilaf). The winner on his dish? I think it was the veggies (to me) it was cooked and flavored perfectly. My Raviolis were good, the tomato cream sauce over them was the right touch. Oh, I almost forgot... they gave us a basket of bread and butter (forgot to snap a pic)... I've gotta say, this was probably one of the worst bread I've ever received from a restaurant. We both agreed it seemed like very old bread, it broke apart very easily and felt stale upon biting. The butter didn't help it much either. We normally finish bread baskets-- we only touched the two pieces we tried and that was it... shame. For drinks, he got a beer and I got a pomegranate margarita. Beer is beer to him, as long as it's good. My margarita was good but it definitely was like a more watered-down version I remember getting back when I didn't know (or could afford) quality drinks. I used to pay for margs like that for $3 at Applebee's. Anywho, overall experience wasn't bad. It wouldn't be my first dining/bar choice but I wouldn't be opposed to returning.

However, it is definitely worth it! For a while now I have been wanting to try this place and finally for around to it. The staff was great very kind and friendly as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was amazing, she was always checking up on us, making sure we had everything we needed it and that we were comfortable. I ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit with Tater tots and for my drink I ordered the OG Lemonade. Starting with the sandwich, the chicken was nice and juicy, very crunchy as well. The flavor of the chicken was very good as well. The buscuit added that nice hint of sweetness that just tied the whole thing together. The tater tots were definitely crunchy, which I loved. They give you a very well serving of tater tots. I did not end up finishing mine, but they had great taste and texture. The lemonade was very refreshing, and it just hit that spot so well. It was appealing to the eye and tasted like freshly squeezed lemonade. Overall experience was 10/10, I would come back. The place gives off vintage coffee shop vibes even though it is not a coffee shop. Seating is definitely very limited inside. However, they do have outdoor tables with umbrellas which is a nice touch. Price-wise I would say it is a bit pricier compared to other similar restaurants I have visited. The total came out to $45 for two plates of the chicken biscuit and two lemonades.

But while the food was delicious as usual, everything else was surprisingly mediocre. Despite not being busy when we arrived, we had to wait over an hour for our food and watched while other couples received theirs and ate before us, despite coming in 15-20 minutes later than us. And even though it all tasted great, my food was cold, as if it had been sitting for a while. We were told a couple of large to-go orders came in that disrupted the timing of our food, but in reality, it seems like our order got lost in the mix. It finally came 70 minutes after we arrived, and I was surprised that when my partner asked for a refill of their tea (which they naturally finished well before our food came), they charged them for a second drink and didn't even offer to comp the refill for the long delay. I don't expect freebies when I go out, but it just seemed like we were more of an inconvenience to them than anything. It's unfortunate because their food is always great and I want to see them continue to succeed, especially during this difficult time with road construction outside. But this was a pretty frustrating experience, and will unfortunately make me hesitant to dine-in again in the near future.

I don't go to Fresno ever and I was blessed to be invited to dine with a group of ladies at this OUTSTANDING gem of a restaurant. From the street view the building is very non-descript except for the name across the awning. But once you park in the lot and walk through the doors you discover a beautiful dimly lit restaurant with a fully stocked bar. We sat in the private room since we were a rather large party, so a lot of us really took our time to browse the menu. Our server Felix was extremely courteous and patient not to mention professional. He took our drink orders first, let us gab and then came back for our food orders. He gave us the specials before we decided. When the food came out, our orders were perfect. I was beyond satisfied with my choice. The texture on the salmon was crispy but not dry and the pasta flavor was subtly spicy. Truly sublime! I was sad I was too full to finish my meal. Judy came by our table to refill our water carafe and none of us knew who she was. Quietly returning and very unassuming, we asked her name and began to learn she as the matriarch of the family behind the establishment. What a joy to have met her and she raved about her son Joe, the chef and shared the history about the restaurant. At the end of the meal we all indulged in some tiramisu. When Judy learned that we were there for a PTA convention, she shared she used to teach as well. What a treasure! I was beyond impressed with this restaurant. Everyone was courteous and attentive, cocktails and food were superb! If I ever return to Fresno, this is a MUST! Cannot recommend enough. For now I get to live vicariously through the reviews of all the other recommendations of meals to try. thank you cosmopolitan!
