I went here the other night for a Fresno Beer Runners meet up. I was hungry after my run so I got an appetizer. I landed on their Eggplant, tomato dish drizzled with vinaigrette and topped with arugula. There were mozzarella balls that came on the side. It was really good. It looked beautiful too. Great food...fantastic service..great ambiance. I knew the original chefs, and the excellence of the restaurant still continues after 30 years or more. I attended the original opening and lots of various events hosted by Tim and Adams. Had been awhile since I had eaten there and I was not disappointed. Might be hard to find the first time if you don't know the Tower District, but when u do finally get there, you will be rewarded. Also, so great to see a bartender/waitress that was also there from the beginning, albeit, she had left and returned a couple of times, but still was nice to see her there. This is a true hidden gem in the Tower District. Our New Year's Eve dinner was PHENOMENAL. Excellent food and warm/attentive hospitality (Lydia was our server) in a cozy setting. Normally, for New Year's Eve in any restaurant, one would expect less than optimal conditions, but our meal was wonderful by any standard. Our experience was conparable with a higher-end San Francisco restaurant. Fair prices too, especially drinks. Our meal-- Salads: the pear-arugula; and the white shrimp. Big surprise at the end of the night, so I understand the service fee they charge for a sitting of 6 or more, there were 3 bills for the table. There's a lot to like about Veni Vidi Vici, but there's also some things that need improvement. The food was pretty great; while the menu is fairly small, everything we tried was really yummy, with the spaghetti being particularly good. The drinks are also good, especially the Singapore sling (something that's actually hard to find, but this place does it right). Everyone else in our party also liked their food too. Finally, it was great that the patio was open. The real downside to Veni Vidi Vici is the service. First of all, it was super slow; it took forever for someone to come over to help us, a long time to get our drinks, and then even longer to put our food order in...we wanted to order earlier, but it was more than an hour after sitting down that we were able to order dinner. Our mains actually came out fairly fast after we finally ordered, but it was still almost 1:30 after sitting down. Finally, the server completely forgot what our order was when we tried to pay, and it took forever and multiple "confirmations" for them to get a correct check to us. After all of that, they had the nerve to put a 20% service charge on the bill (we did have a large group, but with that service, 20% was not appropriate). While I really like the food here, I'm not so sure I would come back because of how lousy the service was. read more

It's a low lit industrialish vibe inside and the bartender/server was attentive. Their menu offerings are clearly thought out and higher end. I got a sausage ravioli that was outstanding. After having some issues with a reservation elsewhere, I was so thrilled they were able to quickly accommodate our group of three on a busy Saturday night. Loves the pre dinner bread, pretty sure it was sour dough. Menu was good, I went with a burger and fries ($22) and my two friends did shrimp pasta ($36) and the salmon rigatoni ($39). Definitely on the more pricey side but I must say, huge portion sizes! If I went back I would definitely consider sharing a plate. We each had a drink as well, I did the spicy cucumber margarita which honestly wasn't my favorite but not bad either. The food here was just ok. I think it is because we might have ordered the wrong items. The service at the bar was great and so were the drinks. I think we ordered too much food and our table after we moved from the bar was too tiny. I think the eggplant appetizer would have been better with fresh mozzarella. The meatballs in the pasta also could have been better. I really enjoyed my spicy cucumber margarita. We did get full off of one appetizer, one salad, and one main course. The ambience in the bar area was very dark which was nice until the front door was opened and the wind gushed in. People were a tad loud since it was Cinco de Mayo. My friend had the shrimp with penne pasta and pesto sauce and the only thing he wished was different is if they would take off the tails. Otherwise it was very delicious. I had the ribeye steak and it was mouthwatering delicious. I did not want potatoes and they will charge five dollars for substitution. I just let them give me the potatoes and I gave it to someone else. My mom got the salmon rigatoni and it looked and tasted so good. This is our favorite place to get the best food and service for our date night. We absolutely love the food, service and overall experience we have at Vini's ever time we have gone. It's our absolute favorite. Chef Tony makes the best pork chop I've ever had. Customer Service: 0/5. We got there at opening. There was 2 other couple and an older gentleman all seated at different table so 3 table. And 2 at the bar. We got seated and ordered. The male that works there did not acknowledge us or stop by to ask us how the food is etc. He walked right passed our table twice asked everyone else and then went back to talking near the bar/kitchen. We thought it was odd. We were the only Asian couple there, and fairly younger than the others around us. We're probably the bar tenders age lmao! But anyways, he made us feel off and it def showed since he did it twice. Could possibly say he's a racist *shrugs*. I came to Veni Vidi Vici on a date night. I did not make a reservation and we were seated promptly. Unlike my experience before...I had a much better experience. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us drink ideas. I ended up going with Malibu and Pineapple as it is a very light fruity drink, can't go wrong at all with that drink! I must say our waitress was very patient as my date and lagged at ordering for a good 30 to 40 min...about the 10th time of her coming by we decided we should probably look at the menu. I ended up getting a vegetable pasta dish which was so yummy! My date got the Salmon pasta. I loved how my pasta had different vegetables which took the guilt out of the carbs I overloaded on that night. The bread was kinda hard and dry...and they just provided us with butter. The restaurant was not that packed but definitely had an older crowd. It was definitely a romantic feel and great for a cozy night on the town. I rarely ordered dessert but ordered the brownie with ice cream which was so delicious!!! I'm really not a Tower District person but 2 years later I had a much better experience. The 2 stars are for the food and ambiance! I loved sitting outside and listening to the band. On the other hand, what almost ruined the evening was our server, Jimmy. From the moment we opened the door, we were greeted with "we don't have seating outside." I said, "Oh, I have a reseveration for 3 for outside." He said, "let me repeat myself. We don't have seating outside." From that moment on, it was a series of similar and unfortunate events. The rude and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior we received from the waiter Jimmy was unacceptable. Every interaction with him included him making rude or negative comments to us about the lenghty wait times we should expect and negative comments about his co-workers not wanting to work. We received bread and butter with no utensils or napkins. Later, he brought a single menu, and WHILE handing it to me, he said, "Well, do you know what you want to eat?". How in the world could I know, when I or the two other guests hadn't even gotten to look at the one menu! When our food arrived, we still had not received utensils or napkins. When I mentioned this, he storms off to get some (every request being an inconvenience to him) and then apon return, he abruptly hands all three sets to me, leaving me to pass the utensils out. His personality and behavior just about ruined my birthday dinner. I hope that the owners and management realize that this type of employee is what will ruin an experience and drive customers away. read more
