Albeit we're 'in season' here in AZ so prob. more crowded than usual, but service and food did not suffer because of it. Hubby had chile verde with beef rather than pork--loved it. Both our friend and I had the pollo fundito and it was excellent. LOTS of crema and that's a bonus! Had half to take home for tomorrow! Environment can be loud w/the large crowds, screaming kids chasing the ducks and turtles in the pond, but overall a beautiful, seemingly authentic Mexican feel. Can't wait to return!

There are turtles and ducks swimming and resting on the rocks that surround pond. Very entertaining. We had the great pleasure of having Calvin as our server. We started with margaritas on the rocks. My go to is the chicken enchiladas pequeno mole. It comes with a side of rice and black beans. I am dairy sensitive and Calvin made sure my order was without cheese. The mole is so very flavorful and the chicken is so tender. I fully recommend this dish. The one enchilada with rice and beans is just enough. I saw when driving home there is a second location that is closer to the interstate. Will have to try that location sometime. But then I probably wouldn't have Calvin's as my server. Calvin is the best!

The best tacos and Indian fry bread in AZ. Hubby loves sweet he gets his fry bread with powdered sugar. I love the Navajo Taco fry bread. Smothered in chilli, cheese, lettuce & tomatoes sooo good. Sometimes I get the Taco plate made with shredded beef. They do have many other things on their menu all very good. Prices are fantastic. Small place in the back to eat also seating out front or tables under the trees out back. Don't drive to fast you'll miss it! Its clean rustic atmosphere is fun. The store has all kinds of rocks, T shirts, blankets even a scorpion rocks. We live about 45 min from here and it's so worth the drive. Great place to bring out of town guest to see the desert town of Cave Creek and enjoy some great food.

The beef enchilada luckily was still a hit. It comes with green sauce, but make sure to ask for their red hot sauce. It's one of the best red hot sauces I've had, with just the right amount of spice. The service was a bit better this time as the owner himself pleasantly greeted us and took our order. The inside of the restaurant could use a deep cleaning, especially their floors, window sills, and bathroom.

The dirty birdy and whiskey buck were such a hit we had a few. The appetizers we tried were delicious. The seared ahi tasted yummy and the pork belly with its crunchy exterior was gobbled up quick. We then tried the cauliflower and steamed clams. The broth for the clams was so good, we asked for more bread to sop it up. The cauliflower was yummy and everything on the plate was eaten up. The girls were full after that, but I wanted to try the beet salad. Have to say, one of the best I've ever had. Beets, arugula, goat cheese, walnuts (I think) and Orange slices with a tasty vinaigrette. Although the girls were 'full', they saw that and had to try it. Nothing left in that bowl as well. Overall, very pleasantly surprised and will for sure return to try other items on the menu. Service was great btw! My wife and I will certainly be back!

There is something on the menu for everyone, and it's all delish! Whether you're looking for some small plates to share or a full on meal, they have it all. The vibe is fresh and welcoming. Not pretentious. One of the owners has stopped by our table every visit, just to say hi and thank us for coming. It felt genuine and unforced. If we lived closer, this would be our #1 go-to joint. That we have to make an effort to visit and still do says it all. Enjoy!!!

First solo adventure in Arizona -- and wow, what a magical little experience…read more I stopped into Stumblina's Cantina in Cave Creek and instantly loved the vibe. I ordered the prickly pear margarita and it was absolute perfection -- not too sweet, not too sour, just a smooth little sipper with the most gorgeous fuchsia pink color. Honestly, it's as pretty as it is delicious. The queso dip was another standout. It has a nice kick (not overwhelming, but definitely some spice), with just a few whole beans mixed in. If you're sensitive to spice, you might find it a little bold -- but if you enjoy flavor, it hits the spot. They offer both classic tortilla chips and kettle chips for dipping, which was fun because each one gives the queso a totally different taste experience. I tried both -- and loved both. Service was wonderful. My waitress (Serena) was genuinely sweet, friendly, and gave great recommendations -- both of which were spot-on. The setting really makes this place special. Around 4:30 p.m. on a Monday it was peaceful and relaxed. The view outside is beautiful -- mountains in front, charming garden scenery near the Prickly Pear Inn, little shops nearby, and plenty of people-watching and car-watching if you're dining solo. It's the perfect spot to just sit, sip, and soak in the Arizona energy. If you're single, exploring, or just want a relaxing escape with great views, good drinks, and flavorful food, this is a great stop. Definitely a magical Cave Creek moment for me.
