We stopped by Cryin' Coyote BBQ while in Cave Creek and had a good overall experience. The restaurant has a really cool atmosphere that fits the area well, and it was a fun place to grab a meal with the family. The prices are on the higher side, although that's not entirely unexpected for a tourist destination like Cave Creek. For example, $21 for the pork cheese fries felt a little steep, even though the portion size was solid. One thing I really liked was the barbecue sauces. They're unique and served warm, which is a nice touch you don't see very often. As a Dr Pepper fan, I was especially excited to try the Dr Pepper baked beans. They were good, but I was hoping for a stronger Dr Pepper flavor--it was there, just pretty subtle. The service was fine, but the staff seemed a little preoccupied despite the restaurant not being very busy. It may have just been the time of day, but it stood out. First, let me start off by saying that the meats are absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend! we had ribs, brisket and pulled chicken. Also the spicy green chili bread. Very hard it hurts. I did notice that the meat was sitting on top of a toasted slice of bread after I got halfway through it lol!! go ahead We were expecting a sit down experience with a waitress. That that's not how it is. You can sit down at any table you want, look over the menu, which is up at the register. There's one posted on the wall and there's paper ones you can take back to your table. There is no service. You go in and you order what you want to eat, pay for it and then you go to the bar pick up your food, and then service table to get your drinks, cutlery, sauces, napkins, etc. Make sure you get lots of napkins if you got the barbecue and sauce. You will be using lots of napkins. We got up three times to go get napkins lol! Everybody working there that I spoke to, really outgoing, friendly welcoming people. There's tables of every sizes and shapes as well as booths. The young woman who took our order did come to our table several times to make sure that everything was good. We had a little two year-old with us celebrating her birthday. She ate two of the brisket slices all by herself. All in all, this is a good place to go for lunch on Sunday. Especially if you like barbecued meats. The ribs were outstanding as well. Mostly meat. But you could have them with that on you them. They ask you when you're ordering how you'd like your ribs and brisket. We also had an order of french fries and they were pretty good. It's $18 for one meat and $24 for two meats. You also get two sides. It's a lot of food so we ended up sharing two plates. I forgot to get one of the paper menus. So I can't resubmit picture of them it. The prices have gone up, from the photos posted on this Yelp so be prepared for that. All in all it's pretty reasonable just don't expect any service. I still left them a good tip. I appreciate that someone came to check on us several times and they even comped me a free tea I guess because we spent a lot of money and it already left a nice tip. I really appreciated that. we ended up going back and ordering more food. If you're someone who enjoys good barbecue, this is a good place to go. I really have to complement the pork ribs. They were really well done lots of meat almost no fat and the sauces were pretty good. We travel a lot and this is one of our favorite BBQ places in the country! Ribs are always tasty and fall off the bone moist. Brisket is so flavorful too. Don't miss the cornbread. Best we've ever had. Often cornbread is dry, but theirs is incredibly moist. The jalapeños add just a touch more flavor to the cornbread, but they aren't overpowering. Cody and his staff are amazing! We had an errand to run in Cave Creek so we stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is cute and has a nice shaded patio where pups are welcome. The employees were friendly and knowledgable. While the food was good, it was pricey. The baked potato for $14 plus $9 more to add brisket was a bit of a shock, but it was good and it made 2 meals. The chopped brisket was surprisingly lean and with yummy bits of bark, on my sandwich. And the bun is nicely toasted. For the $2 upcharge, you do get a nice portion of crispy fries. We had the potato, a sandwich with fries and 2 drinks. $55 seems like a lot for that, but we would do it again if we are in the area. read more

We visited this gem in Cave Creek on a Thursday and it concerned us the place was empty. The second we took our first bite our minds were blown. The ribs, the jalapeño sausage, the beef, the potato salad, the muffins, and the street corn are all INCREDIBLE. I could break each one down but I would need to do six reviews to do each one justice! Great spot to check out if you're in Cave Creek, or nearby! Great service from the start and they come up and check in on you during your visit. Food was delicious! I went with the pulled pork sandwich and added their red sauce which is warmed up (red, brown and gold are available. Not spicy in my opinion). For a side I went with two - the Chile Relleno Rice and Esquites Street Corn. The rice was good but if you're in between two, I'd go with the Esquites and then add some of their red sauce to it. The brisket was very flavorful, tender, held together on its own but still fork tender. Really doesn't need sauce, but I used a little just to try it. The Texas style was my favorite. The darker one was a little sweet for me but that's just my preference. Both sauces I had were very good. I enjoyed the baked beans and slaw also. Slaw was very crisp and cold. From the cool, small town setting, to the delicious barbecue, to the hometown hospitality, this place was unmatched in all of those. This barbecue joint was about an hour outside of our destination and it was so good We made the drive twice to eat there. A touch on the dryer side but great texture and flavor. If i could use sauce it would have been a 9. Ribs-10/10. This is probably now the best ribs I've had out here. So flavorful and moist. Great crust. I bit into a rib and it squirted a fatty juicy happiness in my mouth. I've never had a rib squirt juice. I loved it! Andouille sausages-10/10. They were so good i bought some to take home. I did taste a touch of each sauce and the red sauce was my favorite. Really good. When i can cheat i'll have to try some of those sides and desserts. It's nice to have a good bbq place in Cave Creek. I'm glad they took over the old Bryan's bbq. Food is very similar to what I remember from old owners. Workers were very friendly and dining room was very welcoming. The pork ribs were as expected. The potato salad had large chunks of potatoes and came with generous amount of bacon topping. The half chicken was very moist and really tasty. The brisket sandwich was good but had lot of fatty pieces and burned ends. Will have to remember to ask for leaner pieces next time. I'm from Kentucky and we also had a house in Nashville for 20 years. I'm picky on my BBQ. Love this place! The pulled pork is very lean ...which I love. Cody told me he does it that way because that's the way he likes it. I agree . No one likes biting into fat or gristle. After our first visit eating in, I returned the next week for take out. I was hoping the BBQ here would still be as good after Bryan's BBQ closed. Thankfully the pulled pork sandwich is still delicious!!! I did also like that there are different BBQ sauces to choose from and you can try them all. I would not recommend the corn as a side but my fiancé had the beans and thought they were pretty good and unique. They were a little sweet for my taste. There was a large room for seating. It looked inviting cuz it was hot outside and cool and dark inside. Very casual atmosphere and friendly folks. The place is located in the Las Tiendas mall so note that when looking for it. They have plates which include two sides. Your choice of brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs or sausage. There are also sandwiches with one small side. Their sides are typical by the size of small, pint or quart. Drinks include domestic and craft beers, wine, water, milk and soft drinks. Large orders require 48 hours notice. This place took over the Bryan's BBQ location. Bryan has retired. If you love BBQ, come and try it here. Free smells. Small parking lot. read more
