Cave Greek Gyros proved me wrong. I had the beef gyro and it was excellent. Really flavorful, everything you want. The fries stole the show though. Crispy, almost like they were cooked twice, with great seasoning. They're generous with the tzatziki too, no upcharge for extras, which I appreciated. My only small note is that the tzatziki tasted mostly like sour cream. I'd love to see it a little bolder. The space is clean and nicely styled with good signage. It's a bit echoey with all the hard surfaces, but that's minor. What really got me was the couple running it. Hardworking, genuinely cheerful, and they checked on my meal several times. They wore gloves while prepping the food and left the kitchen door open, and the kitchen looked spotless. You can tell they take real ownership and want this place to succeed. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but no more than anything else around Carefree and Cave Creek these days. They've been open a little over a year now and I hope they stick around. Happily surprised, and I'll be back.

Both are consistently good; at other places I sometimes worry if the steak would be dry, but here it's always juicy. The service is always excellent even during busier times, and the restaurant itself is casual and clean.

I stood at the front for about 5 minutes before being acknowledged, and when I was, I was just told to "sit anywhere." After sitting down, I wasn't given menus and ended up having to go get them myself. Another 5 minutes passed before a server came over. When I asked about the specials that were advertised online, I was initially told there were no specials at all. Then she said, "oh, like happy hour?" which just felt dismissive and rude. We came specifically because of the Taco Tuesday and happy hour deals listed online (which even showed a date of April 7), but none of that was honored, she said that those specials were for the RODEO only. By the time my husband and daughter arrived, we realized there weren't even tacos included on the happy hour menu, which made the whole experience feel even more misleading. Between the lack of organization, slow service, and not honoring clearly advertised specials, the experience just didn't match expectations. It's frustrating to choose a place based on what's promoted and then have a completely different experience when you arrive.

While some seats were available, it was a very warm day, and I couldn't manage sitting in the sun, as the one umbrella I saw wasn't opened, so we went back inside to see if any bar seating had opened, and fortunately for us, a couple of chairs at the bar were now available. It's super comfortable sitting at the bar here, with a nice open-air view across the bar to the outside patio area. The service was friendly, and the happy hour menu is plentiful. We were here for the food today, and there is no shortage of options at (by today's standards) pretty reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. And if you come at other than peak hours, you can even get happy hour in the main dining room and patio, so we hope to give that a try! We ordered three items: handcrafted meatballs with San Marzano sauce ($10) and rigatoni with pulled chicken ($12) from the happy hour menu and the half Tomaso's Sicilian salad from the regular menu (essentially a happy hour price at only $8). All of it was delicious, but the standout was the salad, which my wife said was even better than the salad she orders when we visit Little Italy in San Diego. That's a huge compliment! The atmosphere isn't quiet, but they didn't have super loud, blaring music when we were there, which was welcome. It's essentially a square dining room with a bar on the side. While the bar patio on the north side of the building isn't much and isn't shaded unless you score a spot with the umbrella or come at a time of day when the building blocks the sun, the main patio is nicely covered and shaded at all times. We look forward very much to coming here again and trying other items they offer, especially the pizzas. It's nice to have another dining option in this part of town. :)

There is just one line for ordering and then you seat yourself. They have a four or five tables inside and then some outside. It was a nice day so we sat outside. Hopefully they have umbrellas for the summer months. The gentleman that took our order was quite friendly and our sandwiches were out in under 10 minutes. They have a nice selection of meats, breads , and salads. We both chose the cranberry turkey sandwich and it was delicious. Mine was on fresh sourdough with a generous amount of turkey and fresh veggies. Two 6 inch sized sandwiches came to a little over $24. They do a surcharge if you use a credit card which I will avoid next time by using cash. I don't love this and wish businesses would just include it in the price of the food, however it is minimal. The service was very friendly and the quality of the food was worth the price.

We shared the Bang Bang Shrimp, a favorite of ours. The flavor was great as always, although this batch seemed to have a little more batter than usual. Not a big issue, just something we noticed. We ordered the lobster sliders to split and they were great. The order comes with three sliders, and each one was generously filled with chunks of lobster. I also loved the addition of diced tomato and avocado, which added texture. The sliders were a good size. We added a side of truffle fries, which unfortunately fell flat. They looked like regular fries and, while they did have some truffle flavor, they were missing the Parmesan cheese and seasoning that typically make truffle fries stand out. They were okay, but a bit disappointing. We had a nice lunch. The only downside was the price. For one appetizer, one lunch entrée, fries, and one cocktail the total came to over $75, which felt a little steep for lunch. That aside we loved the sliders and would order them again and we always order the Bang Bang Shrimp when we're there.
