Went to parkville market and got tacos. Decided to get the loaded shrimp tacos that come with crème, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado . Squeezed the lime into the tacos and used their sauce. The flavor was there and it did what it needed to do. Would order again and it didn't take long to wait for the food either. I wouldn't say this is the best taco place, it was mid, and hit the spot when you are hungry. It was about 17 bucks and didn't come with a drink. Kinda of pricey, I could have made this on my own. Seen a guy walking with some delicious looking food and followed him to Las Tortas MX, turns out he worked there. Then I seen the picture on their menu board! Told him to give me what was in the picture without the crema. Thought they were nachos but it turned out to be Tostadas & Sopes. They tasted just as amazing as they looked! My biggest regret here was thinking that 3 loaded tacos would be enough to satisfy me, when clearly I should have had a variety of 5. There was a bit of a wait for mine, but they were ready sooner than quoted. I was super excited to try my first torta and I had been wanting to try this place for over a year, but sadly I was disappointed. I ordered the carne asada torta with fries. The meat was not a very generous portion, it was tough, and didn't have a ton of flavor. The toppings also were not very liberally given - 1 slice of tomato and avocado, barely any cheese. The 1/3 full miniature cup of sauce definitely wasn't enough for the entire sandwich. I had to choose which bites I wanted it on. The fries were definitely frozen. I'm going to grade this meal on a curve since it was delivered via Door Dash. I ordered the chicken adobada torta and a loaded carne asada taco. I hoped for better flavor and texture in the chicken and carne asada. The chicken could have used some additional marinade time and maybe some finishing touches on the grill. The carne asada could have benefited from more seasoning and attention during the cooking process. It's possible the carne asada lost something in the transport. The other aspects of the taco were good. I think the chicken would have been the same even at the Market. The other elements of the torta were fair to very good. The bread was fresh and a good size, but it was not grilled or pressed, which I would have liked. The torta also had beans, tasty avocado, mayo and queso fresco, which all worked nicely. The sandwich also listed tomato and onion as ingredients, but they didn't have a noticeable presence. That's too bad because an occasional burst of tomato juice would have helped. Especially with the mild flavor of the chicken, the torta needed some kind of signature sauce or salsa to tie everything together. I was surprised the meal didn't come with side containers of salsa. Even grading this meal on a curve, it was no better than 3.5 Stars. Especially with the great pastor taco I had while at the Market on a recent visit, I'll round up to 4 Stars, but I'm unlikely to order via DoorDash again because the experience doesn't seem to work as well outside the Market. read more

Since I drove all the way up to the Yelp event at Meltdown, I thought I'd give another vendor a try as well. I've been meaning to try Las Tortas for quite some time so I opted for some carne asada tacos to go. I have to be honest, when I opened the container when I arrived home, I was underwhelmed. The tacos did not appear to be anything special. But, as they say, looks can be deceiving. The tacos were absolutely on point delicious. The seasoning on the beef was mouth watering aided by the fact the steak was perfectly cooked. There were two sauces: a green one and a red one. The green one added a nice little zing. I tried the red one but found it to be too aggressively spicy for me. But if you like heat, it might be for you. All in all, I'm so glad I decided to give Las Tortas a try. While at Parkville Market I wanted something small for a light meal. I decided on tacos from Las Tortas MX. I got the Carne Asada loaded. Honestly, pretty much anything on the menu looked like a good choice. This is grilled beef, it's very tender and fine. It is loaded with tomatoes, cilantro, avocado, for some reason I got the tiniest bit of cheese, I'm not sure if they ran out or what happened. I skipped on their sauce, but I wish it didn't. The tacos are soft, and just the right size. I squeezed lime juice onto my tacos and this was just the thing it needed. I wish I didn't skip out on their signature sauce, I was afraid of it being spicy. And I got almost no cheese. This was still very flavorful and delicious. I recommend stopping at Las Tortas in Parkville Market for some tasty Mexican tacos. read more

Given the name surprisingly enough I have yet to try las Tortas however, I have had their tacos twice and they are delicious! I enjoy their tacos so much that now it's hard for me to switch it up. Since I can't decide on 1 meat, I have tried the carne asada, carnitas, and Al pastor, and you have to get them loaded of course. All of them are yummy I highly recommend them. The meat is so flavorful, it's a taco full of goodness. Squeeze a little fresh lime they give with the salsa verde and your taco is complete! The ingredients taste fresh, and I just can't get enough of their tacos. Don't forget your Jarritos to drink on the side. Probably one of my top choices in Parkville market. This place is inside Parkville Market food hall. Carne asada torta was the best thing I had here. Its kind of a flavorful beef sandwich on a soft bread. Taquito was the special of the day. I went for a chicken taquito, which was also really nice. Especially the green sauce which came with it was very flavorful. For drink, generally I go for horchata in mexican places. Because it was over I had to go for Jamaica, which was ok. Mangonada was a very different kind of dessert. Sourness is what dominates this dessert. There is mango which is slightly sweet and slightly sour. There is a scoop of mango ice (not ice cream), which is also sweet and sour. There is tamarind on a straw which is almost fully sour. I ordered a "mangonada" and waited almost 15 minutes for pieces of lukewarm mango covered in tajin and chamoy. On the televisions with the menu it showed ice cream but when I got my sad mangonada it looked nothing like what it was supposed to. I go ask why mine looked so different and they said they ran out. Mind you, no one told me at the register and yet they still had no problem charging me $8 for a barely filled cup with sad pieces of mango. Sure fried chicken, seafood and pizza all looked good but I wanted to try something different. I ordered the carne asada torta for $10. It was my first torta and I can see why they are a popular sandwich. The bread roll was slightly soft but chewy and the toppings were great tomatoes, onions, avocado, string cheese, etc. it all worked with the slightly spicy beef. My disappointment was the small amount of beef and that it was cut in chunks not slices. It was strange to eat tiny squares of beef. Husband agreed this was not a $10 sandwich there was maybe a 1/2 cup of beef. Wife and I stopped my parkville market for the first time and decided to try las tortas mx. My wife ordered a chicken torta while I went with the namesake torta mx which is a mix of egg, chorizo, ham, queso and hotdog. The flavor was outstanding with a flavor combination I did not expect and we both ended up devouring our meals. The portion size was perfect and we left feeling satisfied in a healthy way. We are planning to come back to parkville market and despite all of the other choices there I might go back for the torta mx. For those who haven't been to parkville market it's a food hall with indoor and outdoor spaces as well as a large number of vendors. So I first came across Las Tortas MX on the Parkville Market website and the original plan was to order a torta to see how it was. However, once I came across the stall at the Market, I saw they have street tacos! And honestly... how do you say no to street tacos! So we moved here from CA about 2 years ago, it's been nearly impossible to find Mexican food that's even close to what we could get in CA. We were so spoiled with a Tacqueria on every street corner, it was impossible to get bad Mexican food. I can't say the same for CT... but regardless, I ordered 3 carne asada street tacos, a little pricey but expected at $3 a pop. Most street tacos I've had in the past come with 2 small tortillas stacked (I personally like to split the toppings and eat 2 then) but in this case they do only have 1 small tortilla, no big deal, the onion, cilantro and carne asada were BURSTING WITH FLAVOR and the portion was a really good size. I asked for salsa on the side, and it's their spicy green avocado salsa, not sure what's in it but it is AUTHENTIC. It tastes EXACTLY LIKE creamy spicy avo salsa in California. It reminds me of home and it's amazing!! I literally licked the salsa from it's container!!! These tacos tho, I've been dreaming about them and every time I go, it's a must eat. Hubby can try the other things in Parkville, but I'm all about these tacos and this SALSA! I was hoping they had a stand alone location elsewhere but alas, they don't That's okay I know where they are and I can visit always. I did ask last time I visited if I could just buy their salsa, however they make In the morning and package it into their small containers so unfortunately no ability to sell it by the pint lol, though trust me I offered.
