The project covered most aspects of the home, including changing the wiring, plumbing, HVAC, flooring, roofing, windows, doors, and refinishing all walls inside and out as well as expanding some rooms and raising ceilings. Mike had a capable team, suppliers, and subs. Jason, the project foreman, especially stood out with strong communication and clever problem solving when surprises came up. One thing we appreciated was how Mike and Jason proactively offered ideas to make the remodel better. He gave me a no-nonsense quote (fixed bid for labor and I pay for materials based on his bills) and a date when he can get started. And started exactly on that date. And never skipped a week here or few days there to take on additional work in parallel. Sergio always prioritizes my need over his or his team's convenience or the option that makes him the most margin. He is always asking - how I want things to be instead of trying to limit the work (after all it is a fixed bid project). He is down to earth and competent. His crew (Luiz 1 and Luiz 2) is industrious, talented and collegial. They are outside the house by 7:45 am and in the house by 8:00 am sharp. Even as they enter the work site, first thing in the morning they are carrying stuff in, you never see them ambling in lazily. It is almost as though they had planned the evening before what they will start with the next morning, and walk in with a purpose. I am getting a deck built and some renovation done. I have made so many changes to the project, that I have lost count. Many of the changes (scope increase) are due to what we found out after starting the work. And some of them are due to changes in my whims. I don't think Sergio ever flinched or frowned. I have worked with other contractors before. With all the consultation and advice and visits, Jim only charged us $500. Due to our budget constraint, we chose another contractor. It then made sense that they refused to pull permits and left that up to me only if I insisted. Jim immediately responded to the challenge, came up with a creative solution that would meet code and pulled the appropriate permits. His top notch team fully remodeled the bath, replacing the tub with full stone shower and bench, beautiful cabinets and warmed stone floor. It has the spa-like feeling I wanted and was so happy with that project that we gradually remodeled the whole condo. A few years later, Jim gutted a single story residence and his team did a full remodel inside and out. The result is beautiful space with hand-hewn reclamation hardwood floors or warmed travertine throughout. Throughout the project, as things evolved, I got different ideas and Jim always responded with creative solutions and no back-lash for changing my mind. The change orders increased the cost and schedule but it was worth it. I am totally pleased with the end result and practically have a new house with fully redesigned kitchen, baths, utility and bar area including wiring, plumbing to the street, gutters, doors, windows & courtyard. We even covered the tacky red brick on the front with stucco for a far more stately exterior. Even three years after the remodel, JWC and subs have responded to several minor problems with no additional charge. They are all professional nice people that I enjoy seeing and welcome into my house. Jim is very creative in responding to what seemed like my crazy requests. For example, I wanted to move the washer and dryer from the garage inside the house. Jim created a design to repurpose wasted space in the guest bath to a fully enclosed utility room with cabinets, while retaining a beautiful full bath with large Jacuzzi tub. I was not at all sure how to go about it but asked Jim to come up with a solution to extend a table from the kitchen island without blocking the interior access door to the garage. He and his team designed a beautiful table that easily pulls out of the island to create space about the size of a card table then easily retracts to avoid blocking pathway to the garage. I use that space more than the bistro table in the kitchen or the formal dining table. It is perfect for prepping vegetables, doing projects and serving meals while remaining a beautiful piece of furniture and not compromising the storage space in the island. Another example of creativity was turning an unneeded pantry into a beautiful bar area with copper sink, beer/wine fridge and under-counter ice maker. I just love the luxury of that ice maker with the tiny cubes of ice, it makes me smile whenever I scoop ice into a glass or pitcher and I didn't have to sacrifice kitchen cabinet storage to get it! We had a little problem with the paint on the garage floor but JWC re-did it until we got the right material to adhere to the concrete without coming up driving the car in and out. JWC is not the cheapest contractor but I firmly believe you get what you pay for. When the remodel was completed the re-fi appraisal was a little over what I paid for the property plus the extensive remodel, even though re-fi appraisals are notoriously low. I have recommended JWC to many friends who are equally pleased with the result and will continue to highly recommend JWC going forward,

Their subcontractors (specifically concrete and stucco repair) were top-notch. You can't even tell the stucco had to be repaired. The architect, constructions, design and management was all done by Greenberg. This meant that the project from top to bottom was aligned with the team actually doing the construction work. My top priorities were 1) a modern home design 2) a job done with high quality 3) low stress. Ohad / Greenberg helped deliver on all of these aspects in spades. The last thing I wanted to do was have to coordinate with flaky contractors, have to re-do low quality work after a long day at work. Ohad kept the project on track and handled all the hassle of dealing with subcontractors & inspectors.
