The food is OK. What is not OK is the guidelines they have around pay. The signage says if you pay by credit card you will be charged an additional 2.99%. So that makes me think they would prefer you pay cash. If you pay cash, they don't make change. So ultimately you pay a little bit more for every meal. I suppose a little bit more doesn't matter all that much. I just find the whole situation ridiculous. I know people who own businesses and they absorb the credit card costs. And then incorporate them into their pricing. That seems way more fair. read more

My husband an I love the food and the atmosphere. We prefer to sit at the bar and catch a game. Jessie is an excellent bartender but she is always working the restaurant orders, Matthew is left to the bar customers. He is TERRIBLE. RUDE DISMISSIVE and he gets your order wrong a lot!!! Lascala's doesn't disappoint! We've found our new Happy Hour spot. Their staff is wonderful. Particularly, Jessie & John go above and beyond to be welcoming and get to know you. I really wanted to like this place since it is so close to home, but I can see now why it is never busy. Service was slow even though the place was less than half full. Took 20 minutes to get a beer. The food was not very good. We got the Stuffed Long Hots and they were undercooked ... the cheese inside was like a cold store bought cheese stick and the Proscutto was cold and chewy. What they also neglected to tell us is that they bring everything out when they feel like it .. Pizza took 30 minutes and the Veal Parm took 20 mins ???? Don't know what they did to the linguine but it was like eating rubber bands covered in ketchup. That brings us to the sauce, better off going to the grocery store and getting some RAO's because their's was not good at all. I left most of my food on the plate and went across the street to the Copper Crow to get some decent food. All in all it was not good and I would not recommend this place to anybody. read more

Very pretty place with generous portions, delicious food and reasonable prices. One suggestion is to have the food for everyone at the table come out at the same time. Instead, if one person orders pasta, it comes from the pasta kitchen when it's ready. If the other person orders salmon, it comes when it's ready from a different part of kitchen. Could be a difference of 10 minutes so you don't get to eat together!! read more

My son and I went to LaScala Fire at the Dresher Promenade last night for dinner and to watch the Phillies and Sixers games. The restaurant was fairly empty, and there were 3 hostesses milling around the front desk, one tapping away on her phone. We were promptly seated at a really nice table by the bar, but then sat there for 15 minutes. Not one server came over for fifteen minutes!! Frustrated and hungry, we got up and walked out of the restaurant. On the way out, I stopped by the hostess station (now there were 5 teenage girls milling around) and asked to speak to a manager. I told him about the terrible service.... He offered a weak apology and did nothing to make it right and literally watched two well dressed, well paying customers walk out the front door and head over to Copper Crow. This place looks nice, but really needs to get its stuff together. Terrible service. No leadership. I'd fire that manager if he worked for me. You don't allow revenue to walk out the door!! read more

We've been getting take out pretty regularly for the last several months, and the food has been consistently good. We dined in today and it was all very good, my spicy tuna was excellent in fact. However, the ambience leaves something to be desired. When I'm having an otherwise pleasant night out with friends, I really don't want to be faced with a 60" TV playing Fox News in the dining area, or any news for that matter. Get rid of that and it's probably 4 stars. read more

Food was bland and average tasting. Tomato sauce tasted like it came out of a can, chicken and eggplant parm was served sloppily on top of a bunch of overcooked linguine. Calamari tasted like it was frozen and had too much parsley on it trying to mask the lack of flavor. Very Overpriced. Service felt like it was a fast food restaurant, food just came out at random times and in no order. Our waiter seemed not to care about anything other than doing the bare minimum. We were told there was no bread service because people would eat too much bread which would be too expensive for the restaurant to absorb. Ambiance was ok but way too bright. read more

First I would like to say when we were being seated the host made a rude comment about our accents another person came to our table and said that the host name was Dory I think. Second the service was horrible our server was very rude and loud If I remember her name was Sharon and she made a couple very rude comments about our accent we saw her in the back take some of our calamari and when we asked she said it was her own but it was ours. Then we saw her pass out food 5-6 times and it sat for 20 minutes before we got it. When we confronted her about that she said "Oh that's not my job that's the food runners I don't ever run my food because I'm just supposed to serve and take tips." My wife and I decided to try someplace new for a date night and landed on LaScala. Definitely glad we did! The only possible negative I can give is the noise level. It's definitely not a quiet dinner place. The food and the service were phenomenal. After looking at the menu and seeing too many things we wanted to try, we decided to just order several things and have some leftovers. We started with the ricotta board and the calamari. The calamari was great - super tender, not heavily breaded and not overcooked. The ricotta board was out of this world. It's a mason jar full of whipped ricotta with honey drizzled throughout and bread (a pizza crust cut up). We devoured that. Then we ordered the chicken piccata and a pizza- it was on the specials list - the Mikes Hot Honey pizza. Both were very good. We finished with the warm banana chocolate chip bread pudding - again it was delicious. The cocktails - tried the espresso martini, orange crush and the cucumber martini- all were great. The pace of the food delivery and attentiveness of the staff was perfect too. We definitely can't wait to go back. read more

Really wanted to love it here but they just missed the mark. No method to seating people just taking whoever was closest to the at the time, we waited 15 minutes past our reservation but others were walking right in and getting sat. Food was decent but the restaurant was SOO HOT. I think the air conditioning was broken, because water was dripping from the ceiling near the host stand and ceiling tiles were missing. Had to have been at least 90 degrees in there and if you looked around everyone was sweating. They didn't open the windows or anything, I almost had to step out to grab some air and saw others doing the same. The place was jam packed. We had to wait for a table with a reservation. They charge a 3.5% surcharge if you use a credit card to pay. The food was brought out as it was cooked - so my husband's entree was brought out before the appetizer; we sent it back. Then the food was brought out to the 4 of us at least 10 minutes apart so that each person's entree was brought out separately - very awkward when 4 of us are dining together for a social and pleasant dining experience. The food was just fair. Server was lovely and took my husband's dinner off the bill. A 2nd glass of wine was ordered by my friend and it never arrived - waitress said she could have us take it home with us - then we said that wasn't what we wanted and she took it off the bill. All in all, very disappointing and not what we had expected. Calamari appetizer was good, not great. The marinara sauce was quite weak. I ordered veal parmigiana with linguini with meat sauce. Waitress came with veal parmigiana with linguini and then brought some sort of millenaise sauce - I said I wanted a meat sauce/bolognese sauce and she finally brought the correct type of sauce but it was brought out after I finished eating. It was OK - not much meat and weak sauce. The floor at our booth was dirty - there was a straw and napkin left over from prior guests. The place is noisy and not a place to go for an evening out with friends. It is kid friendly and probably OK for the pizza and other lite fare. read more

I am usually very generous in the reviews that I give but after eating at this establishment I think that 1 star is still generous. Upon entering, the host was very nice; however, the manager ruined the comfortable atmosphere created by the hosts and servers. The food was atrocious for the prices and it was mediocre at best -- in my opinion. While eating, a fight occurred between a very nice food runner and the manager. The manager was incredibly rude to us and was being disrespectful to a worker who was simply trying to do their job. read more

Had 2 wonderful experiences dining at La Scala's Fire at The Promenade in Dresher!! The food is amazing and delicious, made to order and large portions, enough to be shared. We had the most wonderful server, Jess Alv. She was knowledgeable and very personable. I've seen complaints about the surcharge. But they have a non-charge atm right on the premises if you don't want to pay the extra fee. I would not let this deter me from enjoying our experience and our delicious meal. I placed a takeout order. When I arrived, the server went and packaged my order. I asked her if bread was included and I was assured it was although I couldn't see it in the bags. I again asked about the bread and was told that she included bread. Got home, no bread. The salads are way overpriced. I was also a victim of paying a surcharge for paying by credit card. I can't think of another restaurant that charges a fee for credit card payments! Overall a very disappointing experience. The entrees were okay but definitely not anything special. I was extremely disappointed in this location of LaScala Fire. I was seated and it took close to 10 minutes before someone came over to see if a server had come over. Seems the person who asked was indeed my server. She never told me her name. I was a party of one which I know servers don't care for because they feel their tip will be less. Anyway, gave her my order, they brought out a bottle of water for me, however, they took both glasses away so I couldn't drink the water unless it was straight from the bottle. Once my lunch meal came (Caprese and Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad) she never came back to see if everything was okay. (this was at 3:30 in the afternoon, not busy). When she came back with the Check I noticed that if I paid by CASH it was one Price and if I Paid by CC it was a higher price (3.5%) When did this go into effect?? Do other restaurants do this? The cash price was $35.51, I gave her a $50.00 bill and she brought back $ 13.00. This doesn't add up at all. HOW Dare they not give coins back....total way for them to make more money. So I figured she rounded up the price to $37.00 from 36.51 which was the CC Price. So this restaurant is totally ripping people off. Will I go back to this location or any of their locations (which I have been too) .....NEVER AGAIN!!! Patrons beware. I didn't complain because I couldn't find her, but figured the money that she cheated me on was her tip. read more

My husband & daughter went here on Saturday night in Upper Dublin at the Promenade. We did not have a reservation but only waiting about 10 minutes. We sat down & with in 3 min our waitress came to our table. Her name was Madison. She had only trained there for 2 days. She was the sweetest waitress. She brought our drinks over right away. She explained to us about the flowing kitchen & if we wanted our food to come out in courses we could do so. We ordered meatballs and truffle fries for apps. The meatballs were great! The truffle fries could have had more truffle . The pizza was great. They ravioli was great! The spinach & pear & goat cheese was delicious too. Right amount of dressing on it. The orecchiette with broccoli rabe was really good also. The manager, Nick was super nice. He stopped by our table to see how we were doing. We will def. be back soon & we would love to have Madison as our waitress again! Glad to have a great restaurant close by our house! read more

I have dined at 2 other locations, Philly and Marlton. The food and service is as A+. I thought same as this location. Well I was wrong! Walked in there had to be about 5 girls hanging out at hostess desk, not a word from them just looked at us. I had to ask for a table. One girl said to other girl where do I put them?? WTF! That should if been my first flag. Ordered meal, waitress forgot what drink I ordered. Forgot to bring my daughter a soda. Meal was ah at the atleast. It was hot was the biggest pro! We couldn't find our waitress. Another one comes over to say she's taking over. Then we never saw her again!! After seating with all our plates for 20 minutes we were able to flag down another waiter to get our check!! Waited another 10 mins to get it! We ask for to go containers, yes we got them with an ALDI bag to carry them out!!! She brings the check and tells us there is a 3.5% charge for using a credit card, it that ok?? I said NO but there's nothing you can do she just smiled.. Didn't even mention dessert.. No good by from hostess station as u walk out. Food was just ok nothing special to run back for!
